he said, reaffirming the Chamber's support for Uzbek businesses looking to scale globally through Dubai.
The seminar featured presentations on market opportunities in both Dubai and Uzbekistan, with a shared focus on increasing trade flows. In 2024, non-oil trade between Dubai and Uzbekistan surged by 66% to exceed AED 11.1 billion.
Key Uzbek exports to Dubai include precious stones, zinc, fruits, and copper, while Dubai exports electronics, vehicles, and cosmetics to Uzbekistan. Both sides explored ways to expand this exchange, aligning with their respective economic strengths.
Uzbek business presence in Dubai is also rising. Over 700 Uzbek firms were active members of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce by the end of 2024 — a 34.5% increase year-on-year — with over 60 new companies joining in Q1 2025 alone.

Egypt - Talks between the foreign ministers of Egypt and Oman in Cairo on Tuesday concluded with the signing of seven agreements to enhance cooperation in areas ranging from investment and labour to regional security. Egyptian Foreign and Emigration Minister Badr Abdelatty hosted his Omani counterpart, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, for the 16th session of the Egyptian-Omani Joint Committee. The talks resulted in new memorandums of understanding covering labour, mineral wealth, investment promotion, media cooperation, food safety, and religious affairs. According to a statement from Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf, the discussions were aimed at strengthening all aspects of their bilateral relationship, in line with directives from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. Minister Abdelatty expressed Egypt's desire for a 'qualitative leap' in economic integration, particularly in trade, industry, renewable energy—including green hydrogen and ammonia—logistics, and technology. He stressed the need to activate a joint business council and affirmed that Egyptian companies are prepared to contribute to development projects outlined in Oman's Vision 2040. A key proposal involved enhancing cooperation between the Suez Canal Economic Zone and the Duqm Special Economic Zone Authority in maritime transport and logistics. On regional issues, the two ministers discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip. Abdelatty emphasised the necessity of resuming a ceasefire, releasing hostages and prisoners, and ensuring the flow of humanitarian aid. He outlined Egypt's preparations to host an international conference for Gaza's early recovery and reconstruction once a ceasefire is reached. The ministers affirmed their complete rejection of the displacement of Palestinians and agreed to intensify efforts to rally international support for an Arab plan to rebuild the territory and support a two-state solution. The talks also addressed tensions between Iran and Israel, with both ministers stressing the importance of stabilising the ceasefire and favouring diplomatic solutions for the Iranian nuclear file to reduce regional tensions. They found a convergence of views on developments in Yemen, Syria, Sudan, and the Horn of Africa. From his side, Omani Minister Al Busaidi conveyed greetings from Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to President Sisi and praised the deep ties between the two nations across trade, culture, and education. He also affirmed Oman's support for Egypt's water security. The meeting, which was also attended by Egyptian Minister of Labour Mohamed Gibran, touched upon the status of the Egyptian community in Oman. Gibran praised the support they receive and expressed Egypt's interest in expanding cooperation in labour training. Additionally, Abdelatty thanked Oman for its support of Egyptian candidates in regional and international organisations, including the nomination of Khaled El-Enany for the position of Director-General of UNESCO.

Dubai aims to beat the traffic with 2026 Joby air taxi liftoff
DUBAI: Dubai commuters may soon have a new way to skip traffic: air taxis. Joby Aviation conducted the first test flight of its fully-electric air taxi in the emirate this week, a major milestone in the city's efforts to integrate airborne transport into existing mobility networks as early as next year. Joby hopes its air-taxis will ease pressure on existing ground transportation and offer travelers a faster alternative as Dubai faces increasing congestion. "We want to change the way people commute," Anthony Khoury, Joby's UAE General Manager, said. A journey from Dubai's main airport DXB to Palm Jumeirah aboard the Joby Aerial Taxi will take roughly twelve minutes, the company predicts, as opposed to 45 minutes by car. While Joby's long-term ambition is to make its aerial taxis "affordable for everybody to use," Khoury says, they acknowledge early pricing will likely target higher-income travelers. "As with any novel technology, early days might be a bit more premium." The demonstration flight was held on Monday at an isolated desert site southeast of Dubai's downtown and was designed to emulate a typical aerial taxi journey, according to Joby Aviation officials. In a ceremony attended by senior government officials, transport executives and company representatives, the experimental aircraft executed a vertical takeoff, flew for several miles, and then returned for a vertical landing. The Joby Aerial Taxi, the flagship electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft developed by the California-based company, can fly distances of up to 160 kilometers (100 miles) at speeds reaching 320km/hr (200mph). Fully electric, with zero operating emissions, Joby's air-taxi is designed to be both eco-friendly and quiet enough for commercial use in dense urban areas. 'It will be flying in the city, next to residential areas, and hopefully people will barely notice it,' Khoury said. While eVTOLs such as Joby's have been hailed as the future of urban air the industry still faces major hurdles -- including securing regulatory approval and developing sufficient vertiport infrastructure. Morgan Stanley downgraded Joby's stock price target from $10 to $7 in April, flagging near-term execution risks and broader aerospace industry concerns, including tariffs and supply-chain issues. Joby is currently trading at $10.55. In early 2024, Joby signed a contract with Dubai's Roads and Transit Authority that awarded the company exclusive rights to operate aerial taxis in the city for the next six years. The company plans to inaugurate the emirate's commercial air-taxi service in 2026, with four initial vertiports located at Dubai International Airport (DXB), Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Downtown and Dubai Marina. 'In aviation, you don't see transformations like this,' said Didier Papadopoulos, Joby's President of Original Equipment Manufacturing. 'Every once in a while, you have this propulsive move into the future. What you're witnessing here is really exciting, and I'm excited for you to be riding this one point in the future.'
