Mirzan Mahathir's home burgled, RM1.8 mil valuables stolen
According to a detailed police report cited by theSun, the incident, which occurred around 5pm, was discovered by a Filipino helper who notified Mirzan's daughter, Khadijah, 29, about a cut padlock on the back door and a ransacked room.
Upon checking her bedroom, Khadijah confirmed the break-in and noted the absence of several valuable items.
Among the reported missing articles were a Cartier bangle, various gold rings and earrings, a pair of golden chopsticks, jade bangles, old passports, and foreign currencies.
The total loss from the burglary is estimated at RM1.8 million, according to a police report.
The property, an end-lot two-story bungalow situated on a 1.5-acre plot, reportedly has 24-hour security.
Following the report, a five-member forensic team from IPK Kuala Lumpur conducted an examination, recovering three fingerprints from the bedroom.
The cut Solex padlock has also been seized as evidence, and the fingerprints will be sent to Bukit Aman for further analysis.
It is learnt, despite the presence of 16 CCTV cameras at the residence, the cameras only offer live viewing without recording capabilities.
A K9 unit from Pulapol was also deployed to the scene.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which pertains to house-breaking.

Fake Datuk titles: Undang Luak Johol sounds legal warning
KUALA LUMPUR: The office of the Johol ruling chief (Balai Undang Luak Johol) said today that three individuals were found misusing false Datukship titles, supported by forged documents and fake palace membership cards. The administration confirmed that all credentials associated with them were fabricated and hold no legal standing. "The conferment of state honours, orders, and medals can only be granted by the Yang dipertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, during His Majesty's official birthday celebration at Istana Besar Seri Menanti," it said in a letter seen by NST. The office also said that state honours can only be conferred by Tuanku Muhriz during official ceremonies held at Istana Besar Seri Menanti. It said it would pursue legal action against those found misusing its name, emblems, or titles without consent. "Any event held outside the palace — be it in hotels or halls — is invalid," Datuk Lembaga Tiang Balai YM Datuk Raja Balang Hamzah Limin told reporters. He added that since the appointment of the 15th Undang Luak (chieftan), Datuk Muhammad Abdullah, in 2016, no titles have been issued by the office. "We do not issue terms like 'Putri' or 'royal adopted child' — even the Undang's own children do not use such titles," he said. The Council of Federal Datuks (MDPM) and the Council of Datuk Dato' Malaysia (MDDM) said the misuse of royal titles is on the rise and poses a serious threat to the credibility of Malaysia's honours system. MDDM legal advisor Datuk Rajpal Singh said the individuals violated multiple laws, including the Emblems and Names Act 1963, the Emblems and Uniforms Act 2017, and provisions of the Penal Code related to forgery. MDPM president Datuk Alvin Tee said more such cases are likely, while MDDM president Datuk Samson Maman urged the National Registration Department to investigate possible misuse of government-issued IDs.

No bull: Trader loses RM100,000 to fake ‘Datuk' promising lucrative cattle rearing investment
JOHOR BARU: A honey product trader lost more than RM100,000 after being lured into investing in a cattle-rearing project in Thailand by a businessman with a 'Datuk' title. Mazli Hamzah, 37, said he first met the businessman in 2024 and exchanged contact numbers with him for business networking purposes. 'In March this year, he called me saying he wanted to meet as he was interested in helping grow my business, including marketing my product overseas. 'We met frequently after that, but in July, he told me about a business opportunity involving investment in a cattle-rearing farm in Thailand, where the cows were meant for Hari Raya Aidiladha,' he said during a press conference at a shopping mall here on Monday (July 28). Mazli added that he was initially sceptical about the offer, but the man, who is in his 40s, later brought him to meet a Tabung Haji officer at Menara Tabung Haji in the city centre. He claimed that both men mostly discussed the cattle-rearing project, which convinced him that it was a legitimate business opportunity. 'Earlier this month, I handed the businessman more than RM100,000. Soon after that, he kept asking me for more money, which made me suspect that he just wanted my money. 'Everything was done verbally, with no black-and-white agreement between us. However, he did provide me with a receipt after I gave him the money to invest,' he said. Mazli added that he continued calling the businessman for updates on the investment, but his calls and WhatsApp messages went unanswered. 'I then went to his restaurant in Bandar Dato Onn and saw him sitting a few tables away. I called his mobile phone, which he glanced at but ignored. 'When I approached him, he saw me and immediately left the restaurant,' he said, adding that he has since lodged a police report. It is learnt that the businessman was fined RM200,000 by the Sessions Court here last year for using a fake 'Datuk' title from Pahang. He had admitted to fraudulently using a letter of endorsement for recipients of a degree, medal or award from Pahang Darul Makmur, believed to be a fake document. The businessman also pleaded guilty to an alternative charge of displaying the Darjah Indera Mahkota Negeri Pahang emblem on his vehicle at the same time and place, which was also believed to be fake. When contacted, Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat confirmed that a police report had been lodged and said investigations were ongoing. He added that the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.

Two brothers plead not guilty to kidnapping and assault in Puchong
SHAH ALAM: Two brothers pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court today to charges of kidnapping and voluntarily causing hurt to a man in Puchong last week. V. Kirtik Ram, 19, a lorry attendant, and his brother V. Theshvinram, 18, a despatch rider, were jointly accused of abducting a 21-year-old local man with intent to wrongfully confine him. The charge under Section 365 of the Penal Code carries a maximum penalty of seven years' imprisonment and a fine. A second charge under Section 323 for voluntarily causing hurt could result in a one-year jail term, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both. The alleged offences occurred at Jalan Persiaran Permai, Bukit Puchong, at 6.38 pm on July 22. The court granted bail at RM5,000 each for the kidnapping charge and RM2,000 each for causing hurt.
