
‘Grow green plantation' drive unites Prayagraj for environ sustainability

Prayagraj: The Times of India, in partnership with United Group of Institutions and Solitaire Valley, organised the impactful Grow Green plantation drive across Prayagraj. The event saw participation from educational institutions, township developers and citizens united for a greener future.
Director of IIIT, Jhalwa, Prof Mukul S. Sutavane was the chief guest, joined by secretary, Prayagraj Development Authority, Ajeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, United University, Prof Anand Mohan Agrawal and director of Solitaire Valley, Mayank Jaiswal. Their involvement inspired volunteers and reinforced the commitment to environmental sustainability.
Around 500 saplings, including fruit, flower, and shade trees, were planted strategically at Solitaire Valley, IIIT Jhalwa and United University campuses. Prof Sutavane stressed that plantation is an 'endless process', while Jaiswal highlighted Solitaire Valley's ongoing dedication to planting over a thousand trees. The event was a testament to collaborative green responsibility for future generations.

Representative image NEW DELHI: Jim Corbett, whose 150th birth anniversary is being celebrated, was a hero and a redeemer for the hill-folk of Kumaon and Garhwal in the 1920s and 1930s colonial India. But the hunter-turned-conservationist got written about nationally and became a global literary star only after his debut book, 'Man-Eaters of Kumaon' came out in 1944. He was 69 then. 'It is safe to say that no journalist could have written 'a jungle thriller' of more absorbing interest than this classic by Jim Corbett, which is undoubtedly the best thing of its kind since 'Man-Eaters of Tsavo,' The Times of India review in Sept 1944 said. 'Man-Eaters of Tsavo' (1907), a tale of two terrorising lions in east Africa, was written by hunter John Patterson and was filmed decades later as 'The Ghost and The Darkness' (1996). The review further said that 'what Jim Corbett doesn't know about tigerland and tiger habits isn't worth knowing…' and pointed out that 'the author is giving the whole of his royalties to St Dunstan's hostel for blinded Indian soldiers (in World War II).' We should name Bombay's national park after Jim Corbett and publish cheap books on the wildlife of India to commemorate him.'

The registrations for the Common Admission Test (CAT 2025) will commence on August 1, 2025, reports The Times of India. Eligible candidates can apply for the exam till September 13, 2025. The exam will be conducted on November 30, and admit cards will be released on November 5, 2025. CAT 2025 results are expected to be declared in the first week of January 2025.
