Nepal PM Oli assures India its territory soil won't be used against neighbours
Following the briefing, the Nepali PM assured the Indian envoy that Nepal would not be allowed to be used against any neighbouring countries.
The Nepali Prime Minister's remarks come amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan at his official residence, Baluwatar.
"Ambassador Srivastava also expressed gratitude for Thursday's Nepal government's statement regarding the incident," an official from Oli's secretariat told ANI.
Nepal, late Thursday evening, voiced support for "all in the fight against terrorism," reacting to India's Operation Sindoor. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, issuing a press release, also called for de-escalation as a measure towards peace.
"During this tragic period, Nepal and India stood in solidarity, united in shared grief and suffering. It may be recalled that Nepal had immediately and unequivocally condemned the barbaric terrorist attack, consistent with its resolute stance against all forms of terrorism," the release stated.
The ministry added that, in line with its principled position, Nepal shall not allow any inimical forces to use its soil against its neighbouring countries. Nepal hoped for a de-escalation of tension and affirmed its commitment to lasting peace and stability in the region.
"Prime Minister Oli told the Indian envoy that Nepal stands for global peace and, in line with its firm stance against all forms of terrorism, condemned the terrorist attack," the official confirmed ANI.
India, past midnight on 7th May, carried out a precise attack inside Pakistan, neutralising locations and terrorists who had been orchestrating terror attacks on India.
On April 22, terrorists had killed 26 tourists, including a Nepali national, in India's Jammu and Kashmir. The "Operation Sindoor" is in retaliation for the orchestrated terror attack by Pakistani terrorists.

CII expects Indian Economy to grow in the range of 6.4-6.7% in FY26
New Delhi: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Thursday said that it sees India's economy growing at a pace of 6.4-6.7 per cent in 2026-27, boosted by strong domestic demand. At a press conference in New Delhi CII President however believes that geopolitical uncertainty could pose downside risk to Indian economic growth. Amidst this global flux, India has shown resistance and has shown better growth trajectory as compared to other major economies such as China, United Kingdom (UK), US and Euro area. Industry body CII also proposed a series of next-generation reforms needed to enhance ease of doing business in India. These reforms span across multiple domains, including taxation, manufacturing costs, fiscal policy, environmental compliance, and logistics. On GST reforms, CII recommends rate rationalisation from 5 slabs of current rates to three slabs. Essential items at 5 per cent, luxury and sin goods at 28 per cent, and a unified rate of 12-18 per cent for other items. CIIs other recommendations include streamlining of Input Tax Credit (ITC) to eliminate credit blockages, coordinating audits across states, and reducing litigation through a National Appellate Authority. The Industry body also proposes bringing petroleum, electricity, and real estate under the GST ambit. CII also asked for direct tax reforms, it recommends implementing the Income Tax Bill to simplify processes and reduce litigation. Measures such as Advance Pricing Agreements and Dispute Resolution Schemes should be encourage to avoid legal delays. For Customs Duty reforms, CII proposed a 3-tier structure, 0-2.5 per cent for raw materials, 2.5-5 per cent for intermediates, and 5-7 per cent for final goods to streamline imports and enhance competitiveness. Under Rationalising Cost of Manufacturing, land reforms suggest reducing over 50 zoning categories to 5-7 for more flexible land use, easing urban restrictions, and unlocking land held by PSUs. In power sector, CII advocates tariff rationalisation, digitisation of distribution, and improved grid transmission.

Message of Operation Sindoor conveyed with great clarity, says EAM Jaishankar after meeting with QUAD counterparts
Washington DC : External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday said that the "main objective" of Operation Sindoor was to show the world that if there are terrorist attacks, India will stand against the perpetrators, supporters and the enablers of it adding that the message of the operation was conveyed with great clarity during his meeting with his counterparts of QUAD. "With each of my counterparts, I have shared with them the sense that the nature of the terrorists challenge, the fact that we have confronted it over multiple decades and that we are very resolved today to respond to it very firmly and we have the right to defend ourselves," Jaishankar said during a press conference in US. The EAM is on a visit to the United States to attend the Quad Foreign Ministers' Meeting (QFMM). US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Japan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Takeshi Iwaya, and Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong were also present for the meeting. Talking about Operation Sindoor, which was India's response to the Pahalgam terror attack, Jaishankar added, "The perpetrators of terrorism must be held accountable, they must be brought to justice and that's important because we have to communicate to the world that what we did on May 7, the objective of Operation Sindoor is that if there are terrorist attacks, we will act against the perpetrators, the supporters, the enablers. That message was conveyed with great clarity." The Minister also appreciated the all-party delegation sent by India to brief various countries about the Operation and to expose Pakistan's support for terrorism. "I have spoken about the all-party delegations in very much value and appreciate what they serves our national interest. When you have a broadband set of people who speak with one voice abroad, it conveys a strong message of national unity. It underlines a certain seriousness about responding to terrorism," he added. Operation Sindoor emerged as a calibrated military response to an evolving pattern of asymmetric warfare, one that increasingly targets unarmed civilians along with military personnel. The terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam in April 2025 served as a grim reminder of this shift. India's response was deliberate, precise, and strategic. Without crossing the Line of Control or international boundary, Indian forces struck terrorist infrastructure and eliminated multiple threats, government in a release stated.
