Home Bargains' £25 Oral-B toothbrush worth £60 'makes your smile whiter'
Home Bargains is selling an Oral-B toothbrush that "removes up to 100% more plaque" for less than half the original price. The discount retailer has reduced the Oral-B Pro Series 1 680 Electric Toothbrush + Travel Case from £59.99 to £25.
The product description states: "Experience Oral-B Pro Series 1 from the #1 brand used by dentists worldwide. The Series 1 electric toothbrush helps you brush like your dentist recommends for 2 minutes with the professional timer and it notifies you every 30 seconds to change the area you are brushing.
"While you are just moving the brush around your mouth, Oral-B's unique round head does all the rest. It removes up to 100% more plaque than a standard manual toothbrush for healthier gums, and it starts making your smile whiter as of the first day of brushing by removing surface stains.
"With the professional timer Oral-B Pro Series 1 is a great toothbrush for everyone who wants to switch to an electric toothbrush." The features specification adds that "brush heads reach where rectangular manual brushes don't" and you can purchase brush heads for your individual needs, with deep clean, gentle clean and whitening options available.
Writing for My Private Dentist, Dr Jarri Amini said: "Switching to an electric toothbrush can make a significant improvement to your dental health. But not all toothbrushes are made equal."
He added: "I'm often asked which type of electric toothbrush is best. Sonic technology, as used in Philips Sonicare brushes, gently vibrate and pulsate, whereas Oral B toothbrushes clean with a physical rotating/oscillating action.
"They both offer superior cleaning (compared to manual toothbrushing), and are equally dentist recommended: the choice of technology is really down to personal preference."
While Home Bargains' current offering doesn't include any Sony toothbrushes, various electric toothbrushes are available, including more Oral-B options.
The retailer has also discounted the Oral-B Pro 1 White Electric Toothbrush from £59.99 to £25. For children, the Oral-B Pro Kids Electric Toothbrush - Lion King is on offer from £50 to £14.99
More Oral-B products available from the retailer include the Oral-B Pro Cross Action Toothbrush Heads Refill 3 Pack, reduced from £10 to £8.99, and the Oral-B Pro-Expert Pulsar Battery Toothbrush, down from £7.99 to £3.99.
Alternatively, shoppers might like the Dent X Pert Pro Rechargeable Toothbrush, available from £12.99. It comes in three different colours: pink, blue, and black.
The product description states: "The Dent X Pert Pro Rechargeable Toothbrush is designed to provide an effective and user-friendly brushing experience.
"Offers the convenience of cordless use, eliminating the need for constant battery replacements. Aids in maintaining the dentist-recommended two-minute brushing time, often with interval alerts to ensure even cleaning across all mouth quadrants."

This is the best time to take an exam to boost your chances of passing, study finds

Read our Privacy notice Midday may be the best time to take an oral exam, interview for a job, or even go on trial, a new study has found. Researchers at Italy's University of Messina found a significant difference in students' pass rates in the late morning compared to early morning or late afternoon. At 12pm the students' passing rate was 72 per cent, compared to 54 per cent at 8am and 51 per cent at 4pm. Pass rates at 11am and 1pm were slightly lower at 67 per cent. 'We show that academic assessment outcomes vary systematically across the day, with a clear peak in passing rates around midday,' said Professor Carmelo Mario Vicario. 'Students were more likely to pass in late morning compared with early morning or late afternoon,' he said. 'We believe this pattern could extend to job interviews or any evaluative process scheduled throughout the day.' The study was based on the outcome of 104,552 assessments delivered by 680 examiners for 1,243 courses. The researchers chose to look at university oral exams, which are more subjective and aren't marked solely on correct answers, but also on delivery. It follows research showing that judges are more likely to rule in favour of a defendant at the start of sessions or after meal breaks. However, it is thought that this could also come down to the types of cases that are heard at different times of day. The study's author believes the findings could extend to job interviews ( Getty/iStock ) While the study could not identify the exact cause, it said the midday peak was consistent with evidence that cognitive performance improves over the morning and declines during the afternoon. The report said this could be due to the students' falling energy levels, as well as professors', who may give a harsher mark if they are experiencing decision fatigue. Researchers also said that it could be a result of students and professors competing chronotypes, the body's natural preference of sleeping times. 'People in their early 20s are usually night owls, while people in their 40s or older tend to be morning larks. The students might be least cognitively sharp at the time when the professors are most alert.' Prof Vicario suggested that to counteract these effects, students would benefit from better sleep, mental breaks, and scheduling exams outside of personal low periods. 'For institutions, delaying morning sessions or clustering key assessments in the late morning may improve outcomes. 'We believe this pattern could extend to job interviews or any evaluative process scheduled throughout the day. 'We would be very interested in investigating whether hiring decisions, too, fluctuate in fairness or outcome depending on time of day.'

Why B&M is so good for bargains SENIOR Digital Writer, Abby Wilson, who loves a shopping trip to B&M, has shared her thoughts on why the chain is the place to go for bargain buys... WE all love B&M (especially me). It's a one-stop-shop where you can nab all things from gardenware and homeware, to snacks and cleaning supplies. Not only do we love the variety B&M offers (because after all, who can be bothered to go to five different shops anymore?!), but the prices are brilliant too. If you're on a budget, B&M is definitely worth vising - as it's full of cheap bargain buys. Not only will you find affordable items, but B&M is full of dupes too - so if you're after beauty buys without the designer price tag, you'll need to take a trip. Similar to this, the chain are eager to get on trends - so if you see something in H&M Home but are on a budget and can't justify the price, give it a few weeks and you'll probably spot something similar on the shelves in your local B&M.
