Texas A&M flips 2026 four-star cornerback from Illinois out of Ohio
Texas A&M's 2025 spring game also serves as another opportunity for coach Mike Elko and his staff to host as many 2026 and 2027 prospects in College Station this weekend. The Aggies have picked up another commit for the second time today, flipping a 2026 four-star cornerback out of Toledo, Ohio.
Following the spring game, it was announced that 2026 four-star Illinois commit Victor Singleton has flipped to Texas A&M. He makes the 11th commit of the 2026 class and the first cornerback. This is a big pick-up for the Aggies, who will need depth in the corner position with several upperclassmen on the roster.
Before initially committing to Illinois, Singleton picked up nearly 30 scholarship offers from several Power 5 schools that showed interest.
On top of being one of the top-rated cornerbacks in the country, he was added to the 2026 Polynesian Bowl roster. His junior season ended with a runner-up finish in the state championship along with 30 tackles, five tackles for loss, and four interceptions.
A top-100 recruit, Singleton is currently ranked as the 57th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 5th-ranked CB, and the No.1 prospect in Ohio by 247Sports.

Iowa football lands commitment from 2025 OL Will Hahn

Iowa picked up a commitment from in-state 2025 offensive lineman Will Hahn out of Decorah High School. Hahn, a 6-foot-2, 270-pound lineman, accepted an offer as a preferred walk-on. The Decorah High School product was named first-team All-State by both the Iowa Football Coaches Association and by the Des Moines Register. Hahn joins a group of preferred walk-ons in the 2025 class that also includes quarterback Ryan Fitzgerald, defensive back Royce Heitman, kicker Caden Buhr, wide receiver Dylan Stecker and running back Braeden Jackson. Iowa's 2025 scholarship signees include quarterback Jimmy Sullivan, running back Nathan McNeil, tight ends Mason Woods, Eli Johnson and Thomas Meyer, wide receiver Terrence Smith, offensive lineman Lucas Allgeyer, defensive linemen Iose Epenesa and Brad Fitzgibbon, linebackers Burke Gautcher and Carson Cooney and defensive backs O'Lontae Dean, CJ Bell, Jacob Wallace and Drew MacPherson. The Hawkeyes also brought in nine players via the transfer portal. That group is headlined by quarterback Mark Gronowski, a two-time FCS national champion and the 2023 Walter Payton Award winner at South Dakota State. Iowa also signed South Dakota State transfer defensive lineman Bryce Hawthorne, Central Michigan defensive lineman Jonah Pace, South Dakota cornerback Shahid Barros, Purdue safety Ty Hudkins, Ferris State offensive tackle Bryce George, Chattanooga wide receiver Sam Phillips, Auburn quarterback Hank Brown and Wake Forest quarterback Jeremy Hecklinski. Injury sidelines former UNC basketball star for duration of NBA Summer League

An injury will keep this UNC standout from playing in NBA Summer League action. Drake Powell won't play for the Brooklyn Nets' NBA Summer League team because of a left knee issue. #UNC #ProHeels Just two weeks after the highly-anticipated NBA Draft, we're starting to see final rosters take shape. Former UNC standout Drake Powell, who ascended into the starting lineup last year, went 22nd overall to the Atlanta Hawks – and ended up with the Brooklyn Nets. Two weeks post-draft means the start of NBA Summer League, which gives draft picks golden opportunities to showcase their skills in live, game action against each before preseason and regular season action. The post-draft hope was Powell, not guaranteed a starting spot in Brooklyn's lineup, would play for his new team in Summer League action. Earlier Tuesday, we learned Powell's decision. Due to a previously undisclosed injury in which Powell tweaked his left knee, he will not participate in Summer League action this month. Powell's rookie teammates – Egor Demin, Nolan Traoré, Ben Saraf, Danny Wolf and Adou Thiero – should all still suit up for the Nets this summer. "It's extremely disappointing not to play [in summer league] because coming in with these guys, I want to compete with them,' Powell said recently. 'So yeah it's definitely frustrating, but I understand it. I'd say it's more of a precaution type thing right now.' Powell showcased tremendous durability during his lone season in Chapel Hill, appearing in all 40 (three exhibition) Tar Heel games and starting 27 of them. Powell averaged 7.4 points and 3.3 rebounds per game, but defense was his calling card, as evidenced by numerous chasedown blocks and defending the opposition's top scorer. When Powell first suits up for Brooklyn, he'll compete with Jalen Wilson and recently re-signed Ziaire Williams for minutes at small forward. There's also a chance that Powell plays minutes at shooting guard and power forward. Colorado football's spot revealed in 247Sports' Big 12 preseason poll

The Big 12 announced last month that it will discontinue its conference-backed preseason media polls, following last year's poll that incorrectly predicted Arizona State, the eventual conference champion, would finish in last place. With no official media poll this year, many media outlets will compile their own polls. 247Sports recently released their preseason poll, with Arizona State (233 points) coming out on top after winning the Big 12 Championship a year ago. Kansas State (231 points), Texas Tech (213) and Baylor (213) round out the top four. Based on the vote totals, the Big 12 looks to be as competitive as ever. The poll slotted Colorado as the No. 10 overall team ahead of the Houston Cougars and behind BYU. With 127 points, the Buffs finished significantly ahead of Houston, which received only 81 points. Colorado seems to find itself around the middle of the pack when it comes to various preseason rankings, with USA TODAY Sports also having the Buffs as the tenth-best squad in their latest power rankings. As far as media polls go, they do a good job of providing fans with a snapshot of what to expect going into a season. However, with the transfer portal shifting how rosters are built, conferences like the Big 12 and Big Ten believe that preseason media polls do more harm than good. USA TODAY Sports' columnist Dan Wolken wrote that perhaps the Big 12 eliminated their preseason poll because of the "upside-down nature of last year's [2024] conference title race created a perception that the league wasn't very good." Wolken makes a great point that although Arizona State went on to win the Big 12, the preseason media poll generated a perception that the Sun Devils were worse than their record showed. Whether the negative perception indeed stemmed from the preseason poll's incorrect ranking remains to be seen. Still, it is a fair argument from a conference that may feel slighted by the College Football Playoff committee for undervaluing its conference. Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark seemed to agree when talking at this week's Big 12 media days. Enjoy the preseason polls while they last, college football fans, but always take them with a grain of salt. Follow Charlie Strella on X, Threads and Instagram.
