After Beyoncé's flying car fail, Katy Perry left dangling midair as butterfly prop malfunctions during San Francisco concert
Pop superstar Katy Perry faced a frightening moment onstage Friday night, July 18, when a massive butterfly-shaped prop malfunctioned mid-performance during her Lifetimes Tour stop at San Francisco's Chase Center . The singer was performing her 2013 hit Roar while flying above the crowd when the suspended platform suddenly dropped and jolted, leaving her clinging to the rig midair before regaining balance and continuing the show. She briefly stopped singing and held on tightly as the rig swayed above the audience. While some fans praised Perry's professionalism for continuing the show, others were concerned about the safety of elaborate stage props. 'She handled it like a pro,' one fan wrote. Another warned, 'This could've ended badly — flying rigs need tighter safety checks.' Live Events Not the first tour disruption This isn't the first time Perry's tour has faced challenges. Just last month in Sydney, a fan stormed the stage and grabbed her shoulder mid-performance. Security quickly removed the man, who was later arrested and charged. Friday's prop malfunction also follows a similar mishap during Beyoncé's 'Cowboy Carter' tour, when her flying car prop tilted midair during a Houston show. She was safely lowered without injury. The Beyoncé incident occurred on June 28, 2025, during Beyoncé's first Cowboy Carter tour show at Houston's NRG Stadium. During her '16 Carriages' performance, the flying red Cadillac prop she was seated on began to tilt dangerously mid‑air. She immediately halted the song, called for the crew to 'stop,' and was then safely lowered back to the stage before finishing the performance. No one was injured in Perry's performance. Neither Katy Perry nor her representatives have released an official statement yet.

Stampede breaks out at Beyonce's Atlanta concert as woman starts screaming after spotting an insect, 9 injured
Mega-star Beyoncé is currently on her Cowboy Carter tour, performing songs from her latest album of the same name. The tour began on April 28 and is currently on its final leg with only two more shows remaining. During her fourth and last performance in Atlanta, an unfortunate incident occurred as the fans made their way out from the stadium and were going through the Vine City MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) station. After the show concluded, many fans decided to travel back to their homes using public transit, but while going through the station, a random woman in the crowd reportedly spotted an insect and screamed. She started running towards the gates, and her reaction confused the people around her, who in turn also started panicking and sprinting. As the people were trying to rush through the escalator, it reportedly sped up, which caused many people in the crowd to lose their balance and trip. Many people fell over each other, and at least 9 people were injured in this freak stampede. ALSO READ: Hollywood exploited Kanye West; his HBO acting debut was axed, says Seinfeld writer who worked with rapper pre-Kardashians People present in the station reported that the escalator malfunctioned as it sped up and then suddenly came to a halt, and while the authorities, MARTA officials and the manufacturers of the escalator are still investigating what caused this problem, it is believed that the sudden burst of movement might have been a factor. This stampede became the closing chapter in an already chaotic Atlanta run for the artiste, as just two days before her first performance in the city, someone stole from a rental car belonging to her crew. It has been confirmed that the stolen items included hard drives with unreleased songs, show plans, and past and future set lists for her tour. Beyoncé's choreographer and one of her dancers were grabbing something to eat while the car was parked outside a food hall. When they came out, they saw someone had smashed the rear window and stolen two briefcases which contained sensitive information. Beyoncé has suffered heavily because of leaks early in her career, as two of her albums have found their way onto the internet before their release dates. The artiste's next performance will be in Las Vegas on July 25 and 26, which will mark the end of this tour.
