The Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited ( SDAL ) on Wednesday completed a test of its Hybrid VTOL UAV, Rudrastra, at the Pokharan Firing Range According to news agency ANI, the trial was carried out as per Indian Army performance parameters, including mission flexibility, precision targeting, high endurance, and vertical take-off and landing.The UAV covered a mission radius exceeding 50 km during the test, maintaining a continuous video link before returning to its launch point. The total range, including time spent at the target zone, was over 170 km, with an estimated endurance of 1.5 hours.During the exercise, SDAL deployed a precision-guided anti-personnel warhead . The munition detonated in a low-height airburst after being released from medium altitude, covering a wide area and meeting the required tactical parameters.The UAV's features include VTOL capabilities , long-range operations, real-time observation, and targeting precision. SDAL described the test as a step in the development of indigenous defence technologies under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.In a related development, SDAL in May tested a low-cost Counter Drone System , named Bhargavastra, in Hard Kill Mode. The system uses unguided micro rockets as its primary line of response and is designed to counter drone swarms within a 2.5 km range and a 20-metre impact radius.The Seaward Firing Range in Gopalpur conducted the testing of the micro rockets, which reportedly met the performance goals.SDAL stated that the system can operate across multiple terrains, including high-altitude areas above 5,000 metres, and has been developed to align with the operational needs of India's military services.

Users who attempted to access the Reuters account in India encountered the message- 'Account withheld. @ Reuters has been withheld in IN in response to a legal demand.' The X handles of TRT World and Global Times also encountered the same 'account withheld' message. On its help centre page, the Elon Musk-owned platform X explained that such messages 'about country withheld content' mean that X was compelled to withhold the entire account specified or posts in response to a valid legal demand, such as a court order or local laws. 'If you see the above message, it means X withheld content based on local law(s) in response to a report filed through specific support intake channels,' the social media platform said. (ANI)

Monte Carlo [Monaco], July 6 (ANI): Team Sea Sakthi from Kumaraguru College of Technology in India has been awarded the Communication Prize at the 12th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, making a significant impression at one of the world's most prestigious maritime sustainability competitions, according to the Yatch Club De Monaco statement. The team's recognition comes as part of a remarkable international showcase that brought together 42 teams from 20 nationalities, involving more than 1,000 students in the pursuit of cleaner marine propulsion technologies. The Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, organised by Yacht Club de Monaco with support from the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, UBS, BMW, and SBM Offshore, has established itself as the premier event for testing and developing sustainable maritime innovations, as per Yatch Club De Monaco. This year's competition was dominated by UniBoAT - University of Bologna Argonauts Team from Italy, who were crowned the overall 2025 MEBC Champion for the fourth time, having previously won in 2021, 2022, and 2023. According to Yatch Club De Monaco, the competition featured four distinct categories: AI Class for autonomous boats, Energy Class for standardised hulls testing different technologies, SeaLab Class focusing on hydrogen projects, and Open Sea Class for zero-emission prototypes up to 25 meters that can accommodate at least three people. For half of Team Sea Sakthi's members, the Monaco competition represented their first international travel experience, yet they distinguished themselves not only through their technical prowess but also through their collaborative spirit. The Indian team exemplified the event's philosophy of knowledge sharing when they provided assistance to the French team Nereides in the paddocks, demonstrating the international cooperation that defines the competition's culture of open-source expertise exchange. The Communication Prize recognises teams that excel in presenting their innovations and engaging with the broader maritime community about sustainable technologies. Team Sea Sakthi's achievement highlights India's growing presence in the global conversation about maritime sustainability and clean energy solutions.
