Ex-TMCP member says outfit leaders circulated morphed pics, files police complaint
The complaint was lodged at the Sonarpur police station on Saturday, nearly two weeks after she initially spoke out about the alleged harassment.
The complainant was expelled from TMCP a year ago.
On June 29, she alleged that TMCP leaders used AI to create and circulate morphed, semi-nude photographs of her among the junior students.
In her complaint, the woman mentioned that the distorted images were also disseminated on social media with 'the intent to tarnish her personal and political image'.
Along with the complaint, she submitted several alleged morphed images to the police, stating that some individuals are trying to pass them off as real to malign her reputation. While the complainant did not name any individuals in her complaint, she informed police that she is prepared to identify the accused, if requested. She has also urged the police to conduct a forensic analysis to determine the authenticity of the pictures and requested prompt action on her complaint, assuring full cooperation with the investigation.
The police are yet to issue a statement on the incident.

City police detects 42 theft cases in last two months, recovers stolen goods worth ₹63 lakh
The city police have successfully detected 42 theft cases during the last two months and recovered stolen goods worth ₹63 lakh. Addressing a press conference in Mysuru on Monday, Police Commissioner Seema Latkar highlighted the detection of 287 grams of gold ornaments worth ₹26.16 lakh stolen from a house in Saraswathipuram police station limits in the city in the last week of May. The accused, described as a first-time offender, carried out the hesit by cracking open the digital lock of a safe kept in the house with the help of instructions from a search engine. The accused, who is a carpenter engaged in installing digital locks, had apparently kept the windows of the house unlocked. When the owners were away, he made an entry into the house through the window, Ms. Latkar said, adding that the accused, who is well-versed in English, used the instructions given to him from the search engine to open the digital lock of the safe. Also, the accused took away only half of the gold, while leaving behind the remaining half in the safe locker. The accused had fled to Tamil Nadu, and the police traced him and brought him back to the city, the Police Commissioner added. The owners of the stolen gold had suspected the carpenter who was working in their house during the time of the theft. Though some work was pending, the carpenter absconded, switching off his mobile phone, which gave them a room for suspicion. The ₹63 lakh worth of items recovered by the city police during the last two months included 659 grams of gold ornaments, one kg of silver articles, 27 two-wheelers, one car, ₹2.57 lakh in cash, and one laptop. As many as 19 persons had been arrested in these cases, Ms. Latkar said. The detections included eight chain-snatching cases. The Lakshar police arrested three accused and detected three cases, and one in the Devaraja police station limits that resulted in the recovery of four gold chains, weighing 175 grams, worth ₹11.40 lakh. Meanwhile, the Vidyaranyapuram police arrested two accused and detected three chain-snatching cases in its limits and recovered three gold chains, weighing 85 grams, worth ₹6.8 lakh. The Kuvempunagar police detected one case. Ms. Latkar said the police registered 11 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act since May 2025. While 11 accused had been arrested, 65 kg and 800 grams of ganja and 23 grams of MDMA worth about ₹18.5 lakh had been seized.

Prime accused, 3 others arrested in TMC leader Razzak Khan murder case
Police have arrested four people in connection with the murder of TMC leader Razzak Khan, who was gunned down and hacked to death last Thursday night in Bijoyganj Bazar. The case has been registered under section 103 (1) (murder) and 3 (5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act. The prime accused, Mofajjel Molla (50) of Bijoyganj Bazar, was apprehended on Saturday night from a field near Panapukur F P School. Molla, described by police sources as a 'close friend' of the victim, was arrested and interrogated on the same day as the murder. Investigators believe his role in the killing is 'very important'. On Sunday, the Baruipur Subdistrict Court remanded Molla to eight-day police custody, and he is scheduled to be produced before the court again on July 20. Police claim that Mofajjel Molla and Razzak had a long standing territorial dispute over establishing control of a 'local market'. Mofajjel 'lost his grip' on the market after he 'lost a Panchayat election to an ISF candidate', while Khan 'took control'. On Monday, three more persons were arrested in connection with the case. They have been identified as Azharuddin Molla (25) of Bhangar, Jahan Ali Khan alias Kangal (50) of Bijoyganj Bazar, and Raju Molla (26). Razzak Khan was attacked around 10 pm last Thursday while returning home on his bike after a meeting at the party office in Bijoyganj Bazar. He was first shot at Sirishtala on the road to Bhangarh Khalpar, near Bijoyganj Bazar, and subsequently hacked to death. Sweety Kumari reports from West Bengal for The Indian Express.
