A MERCEDES has 'ploughed into a crowd' following a fight in a pub car park as two men have been arrested.
Merseyside Police were called just before 11.20pm on August 1 to the Oxton Bar and Kitchen on Claughton Firs, Oxten, following reports of an 'ongoing disturbance'.
1
The two men are said to have got into a car and attempted to leave the car park which allegedly caused 'significant damage' to the car park gate.
One of the men is then said to have become involved in a fight with another group of men.
The Mercedes is then said to have been driven off with one of the men inside and is believed to have been involved in a crash with a number of members of the public.
So far, no one has come forward to report they have been injured, cops said.
The second man is thought to have fled the scene.
Two men, aged 21 and 26, have since been arrested and the car has been located.
A 21-year-old man from Wirral has been arrested on suspicion of s18 grievous bodily harm with intent, five counts of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, dangerous driving, driving while unfit through drink, failing to stop after a road accident and affray.
A 26-year-old man from Wirral has been arrested on suspicion of six counts of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, driving while unfit through drink, failing to stop after a road accident, criminal damage and affray.
Both are currently in custody while enquiries continue.
Detective Inspector Sarah Wilkinson said: 'We know the Oxton Bar and Kitchen would have been busy last night and believe a number of people would have witnessed or been involved in this incident.
'At this stage no-one has come forward to police to report they were injured.
"Enquiries are also being carried out with hospitals in the local area but as yet we have not identified anyone who may have been involved.
'I would ask anyone who was at the bar last night and was either directly involved or witnessed the incident to come forward and speak to us.'

Woman arrested after travelling with two-year-old in suitcase in New Zealand

A New Zealand woman was arrested on Sunday after travelling on a bus with a two-year-old girl trapped in her luggage. DI Simon Harrison said the 27-year-old woman had been charged with ill treatment and neglect of a child. Police were called to a bus depot in Kaiwaka, 60 miles (100km) north of Auckland, after the bus driver became concerned about a bag moving during a scheduled stop. 'When the driver opened the suitcase, they discovered the two-year-old girl,' Harrison said. 'The little girl was reported to be very hot, but otherwise appeared physically unharmed.' The luggage had been stored beneath the bus passengers, in a separate compartment. Harrison said the girl was in hospital undergoing an extensive medical assessment. He added that the driver prevented 'what could have been a far worse outcome'. Further charges were possible, Harrison said. New Zealand's Ministry for Children, Oranga Tamariki, has been notified.

Man, 31, and woman, 27, arrested on suspicion of GBH after one-year-old baby taken to hospital in ‘serious' condition

A MAN and a woman have been arrested by police after a toddler was airlifted to hospital. The one-year-old was seen by residents being carried out of a property in Newport, Isle of Wight and into an ambulance at around 11.30am on Saturday. 1 A man, 31, and a woman, 27, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Both have been released on conditional police bail pending further enquiries until November 1. Some witnesses said the child was "limp" as paramedics carried it out the property. The victim was then rushed to Southampton General Hospital. The condition of the child is unknown. A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: "We were called at 11.34am on Friday, August 1 to a report of a child being taken to hospital with serious injuries. "Police attended an address in Newport, to carry out enquiries in relation to this investigation. "A 31-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, both from Newport, have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. "They have been released on conditional police bail pending further enquiries until November 1." "While we carry out those enquiries, we are urging people to stop speculating online about this case. "Speculation and the spread of rumours are not only unhelpful, but they can actively hinder the progress of our investigation. "If people have relevant information on this incident, then they should contact the police directly."

Hunt for Britain's most-wanted fugitive after 2005 murder of mother

Detectives are hunting Britain's most-wanted fugitive 20 years on from the murder of a mother at her home. Kevin Parle is wanted after Lucy Hargreaves, 22, was shot dead at her home in Walton, Liverpool on Aug 3 2005. Ms Hargreaves was killed while she was asleep on the sofa after three men burst into her home, which they then set on fire. Her partner and two-year-old daughter were upstairs and had to escape through a window. Police arrested 21 people as part of their investigations, but no one has been convicted. Parle, who was believed to be living abroad, was also wanted in connection with the murder of Liam Kelly, 16, who was shot in the early hours of June 19 2004 in Dingle, Liverpool. A comprehensive review into Ms Hargreaves' murder was started by Merseyside Police two years ago and remains active. Detectives are also continuing to appeal for anyone with information about a gold Lexus car, believed to have been dumped shortly after the shooting on Richard Kelly Drive, Clubmoor, by a number of men who then ran in the direction of Normandale Road. 'She wasn't involved in criminality' Howard Rubbery, head of the serious case review unit, said: 'The family remain absolutely devastated by Lucy's death. 'It's important to note Lucy is an absolutely innocent victim. She's not from a family of criminality. She wasn't involved in criminality. 'The hunt for Kevin Parle is very much on, and we ask anybody with information, anybody who is close to Parle and knows where he is, to please come forward. 'There were three males responsible for this offence and we are looking for justice for Lucy's family in relation to all three. 'I do believe that there are people out there who have yet to speak to the police, even though it's 20 years on, who hold information that's absolutely vital to our investigation.' Two decades on, Ms Hargreaves' family released a previously unshared photograph of the mother-of-three, taken at college. They said: 'Over the past 20 years, people will have talked with family and friends. A number of people were contacted by males using a phone that was stolen, along with a vehicle used in Lucy's murder. 'The people who received those calls, along with others, could have information which could be crucial in achieving justice for Lucy, her parents, sister, children and all her extended family and friends. 'We appeal directly to them to please come forward. Now is the time.' Her family, who said they 'miss her every single day', welcomed a focus on tackling violence against women and girls in recent years. They praised the families of other victims of gun crime, including Cheryl Korbel and Julie Dale, the mothers of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel and Ashley Dale, 28, who were shot in their homes in separate incidents in Liverpool in August 2022. The family said: 'We greatly admire the determination and guts of the families of those who have more recently been killed as a result of gun crime here in Merseyside. 'The mums of both Ashley Dale and Olivia Pratt-Korbel have led a real and powerful community challenge to men of violence.' The family added: 'We consider ourselves to be an ordinary local family with strong roots in the Walton, Norris Green, Croxteth and Dovecot areas of Liverpool. 'Lucy's nanny Joyce was a strong mother of eight who had to cope with the loss of three granddaughters in her lifetime - including Lucy. 'Her nanny Betty, left a widow aged 35 with six children to bring up, was awarded the British Empire Medal for her services to nursing as an auxiliary nurse in the Royal Liverpool Hospital. 'They were two strong local women typical of their generation, and Lucy too was a strong woman who could have achieved so much had she only been given the opportunity.'
