Reneé, Taylen, Heidi: best and worst dressed at the American Music Awards
TAYLEN BIGGS
The social media sensation is famed for her interview looks and her red carpet get-up is no exception. Channeling the cowboys of Nevada, the boxy jacket doubles up as a dress with her cowboy boots being a cohesive match with every cowgirl's staple, a bandanna. The diamond ground ball evening bag is a perfect finish to the look to help them pair with the jacket's metallic tassels.
TIFFANY HADDISH
Rarely one to be seen on a best-dressed list, Haddish was a surprise on the carpet rocking a hooded Bronx and Banco gown. The hooded outfit brought a bit of streetwear with its design and some glam thanks to the plunging neckline and glittering sequins.
REBECCA BLACK
Las Vegas is loved for its last-minute weddings, and that is exactly what Black was looking to celebrate on the carpet. While the look would have been better off with her usual party girl style, the cinched 1950s Dior vibe she imbued in the ivory-and-pearl bridal gown with Sailor influences is a fun layered look that introduces a new aesthetic and red carpet approach for the DJ.
WORST
HEIDI MONTAG
If there's always one thing to expect from a Heidi Montag red carpet moment, it will be a lot of boob. But for this recent appearance, it seems the reality star was looking to show off a new hairdo and it was certainly not a hit. While an hourglass silhouette dress or jacket would accompany the glittering look better, the sleeveless jumpsuit should be the very last option, especially when worn with platform heels rather than any other boot variety.
DORA JAR
While the American Music Awards are the perfect place to showcase theatrical or party-ready looks, Dora Jar seems ready to hit the mall and shop for the look she needs to wear for the award show. The look could have been saved with fun Y2K-inspired makeup, a mixture of bows, clips and crimped hair and much more striking accessories and permanent body art to zone in on her high-low aesthetic.
BOMANIZER
Of all the Louis Vuitton menswear looks Bomanizer could have pulled, this library secretary ensemble is by far the most unexpected. All the look needed was the right trousers to make the formal look nerdy with a twist. Perhaps a colour-blocked option with a contrasting belt would have done more justice to this look.

ZULO's new EP 'Z' - a heartfelt love letter to South Africa's enduring spirit
South African rapper ZULO makes a bold comeback with 'Z', a punchy three-track EP that delivers beyond its brief runtime. Image: Supplied South African rapper and cultural commentator ZULO has made a striking return to the music scene with the release of 'Z', a tightly constructed three-track EP that packs far more than its brief runtime suggests. Blending elements of faith, cultural homage and hard-earned resilience, 'Z' is a deeply personal and political work - an introspective yet explosive project that sees ZULO claiming his place as a fully formed, unapologetic voice in South African hip hop. At first glance, the EP might seem minimal in scale, but its emotional and sonic impact is anything but. Each track is a meticulously crafted chapter in a larger story of identity, legacy, and survival. With this project, ZULO distils his years of growth - both personal and artistic - into a clear and commanding sound that is equal parts bold, vulnerable and proudly rooted in his South African upbringing. Anchoring the project is the lead single, 'Sweeter Success', a rhythmically rich, Afrobeats-inspired anthem that carries the warm glow of nostalgia. Built around a shimmering sample of UPZ's timeless 'Pure Surprise', the song captures a feeling many South Africans know well - that moment when a familiar tune cuts through the noise and anchors you to a place, a memory, a people. 'The fact that you can go to every event in the country and the DJ always drops 'Pure Surprise', that's culture,' says ZULO. 'I needed that feeling. I needed them to feel a memory when listening to this song. It's a cheat code.' At first glance, "Z" might seem minimal in scale, but its emotional and sonic impact is anything but. Image: Supplied But beneath the track's soulful bounce and catchy melodies lies something more complex. 'Sweeter Success' confronts the often-unseen emotional cost of ambition - the burnout, the sacrifice, the endless grind. Produced by ZULO himself, with contributions from Miglow and SpiceDrums, the song balances light and darkness, triumph and tension. It's both a celebration and a cry for help. The EP opens with 'God's Armour', a commanding track that blends gospel undertones with the grit of trap drums and brass instrumentation. It's a protest song - raw, righteous and rooted in spiritual resistance. ZULO isn't just rapping here; he's bearing witness, channelling divine protection while standing firmly in defiance of societal pressures and inner demons. The closing track, 'Spaan', brings the project full circle, diving into SA's unhealed wounds. Sampling Kamazu and laced with a gritty sonic palette, the song touches on the realities of addiction, generational poverty and post-apartheid disillusionment - all through the lens of Coloured South African identity. It's a fearless reckoning with the past and present, told from the perspective of someone who's lived both. 'These songs are battle cries and war journals,' ZULO explains. ''Z' is everything I've fought through to stand where I am. It's my truth. It's my fingerprint.' ZULO's musical journey began early. Born and raised in Johannesburg, he first gained attention in high school under the moniker Lil Trix, releasing no fewer than eight mixtapes before matriculating. His early work earned him radio airplay on YFM and 5FM, as well as a finalist spot on Channel O's 'ShizNiz: King of the Mixtape' - a rite of passage for many rising local hip hop stars. But as he matured, so did his artistry. Shedding the Lil Trix name, ZULO emerged with a more refined vision - one that prioritises substance over flash, and legacy over virality. His rebrand marked not only a change in name but a full creative rebirth. With this new identity, he has consistently delivered music that fuses personal narrative with cultural commentary, earning him respect as both a lyricist and a visionary. Recent singles like 'Adawise', 'JOL', 'Garden', and 'Smaak To Love (Lamza)' laid the foundation for 'Z', offering glimpses of his sonic versatility.

Summer Walker fires back at body-shaming trolls: a TikTok tale of body positivity
American singer Summer Walker defended herself after she was body-shamed recently on TikTok and shared that she will not be changing anything about herself. Image: X American singer Summer Walker took to Instagram recently as she clapped back at online users who were making fun of her body and claiming that she has a botched BBL. She wrote via her Instagram stories that despite the negative comments about her body, she loves it and won't be changing anything about it. 'I love my body with a fiery burning passion. Please get over it. I'm not changing or reducing anything. Idk (I don't know) why it would bother you if we're not intimate & you don't even know me in real life, but please block me if it offends you or keep scrolling,' Walker said. She further added that if she does not invest her time or energy into people she does not like, then why are people doing that if they do not like her? A screenshot of Summer Walker responding to online critics who claimed that she has a botched BBL. Image: Instagram This comes after the 'Playing Games' singer shared a fun TikTok video wearing a Dior swimsuit, which showcased her body. This video was met with a lot of backlash online as online users made remarks about her body and claimed that her BBL looks just as bad as the person she was making fun of just a month ago. 'That time she was judging Wandi,' @bkoetz commented. @michellekoopa wrote: 'Moes o tshwana le Wandi (She looks just like Wandi)' While @thandolwethuv added: 'Imagine, she was making fun of Wandi.' In June, Walker mocked South African reality TV star, Wandi Ndlovu's BBL last month via her Instagram stories and shared a side-by-side picture of Ndlovu's real body being photoshopped to chicken thighs. While the multi-award winning singer found the post funny, netizens did not and instead turned things around as they also made fun of her BBL. A few days later, Ndlovu shared a conversation between her and the singer, who clarified that she shared the post because she thought it was funny. 'Girl, I just wanna say that I think you're beautiful and yo body looks great, I don't know who you are but I just thought it was hilarious that someone photoshopped roasted seasoned chicken thighs on someone lmao like that's so ridiculous.
