Kamikaze drones
, also known as suicide drones, either explode on impact or self-destruct after dropping bombs.
On the night of May 8–9, Pakistan launched
drone attacks
across the entire western border, targeting military areas. Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said at a press briefing that drone activity was noticed at 36 locations, stretching from Leh to Sir Creek. Around 300 to 400 drones were involved.

Singh added that Indian forces used both physical and electronic methods to bring down many of these drones.
While drone-shaped snacks might tickle your funny bone (and your taste buds), the real drones crossing into Indian territory are serious business.
The Indian Army also issued a warning on Saturday, Pakistan's drone games are not only a military threat but are also endangering civilians and religious sites. The Defence Ministry told PTI, 'Our forces are watching. Don't test our patience, or our radar systems.'

US designates TRF a terrorist group: All about the ‘LeT proxy' behind India's deadliest terror attack on civilians

The US on July 17 designated The Resistance Front (TRF) as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT), citing its role in the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, mostly tourists in Kashmir on April 22. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who announced the designation, described TRF as a 'front and proxy' of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), which is already listed as a terrorist group by both the United Nations and the United States. Rubio said that this action against the TRF "demonstrates President Donald Trump administration's commitment to protecting our national security interests, countering terrorism, and enforcing President Trump's call for justice for the Pahalgam attack". "This (Pahalgam attack) was the deadliest attack on civilians in India since the 2008 Mumbai attacks conducted by LeT. TRF has also claimed responsibility for several attacks against Indian security forces, including most recently in 2024," the secretary of state said. The attack in Pahalgam – a popular tourist destination in South Kashmir's Anantnag district – was carried out on a day when US Vice President JD Vance was in India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on a state visit to Saudi Arabia. 'More than 85,000 domiciles have been issued to non-locals, creating a pathway for demographic change in Jammu and Kashmir. These non-locals arrive posing as tourists, obtain domiciles, and then begin to act as if they own the land," the TRF said in a statement claiming responsibility for the attack on social media. Mint could not verify the statement's credibility. "Consequently, violence will be directed toward those attempting to settle illegally," it said after the attack that sent shockwaves across the country, and beyond. A few days later, another TRF statement available online disowned the earlier statement claiming responsibility for the attack, one of the deadliest in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370. TRF emerged after Article 370 of Jammu and Kashmir was abrogated in August 2019. The TRF is a known proxy of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and was formed to provide a localised face to the militancy in Kashmir. Founded in October 2019, the group was led by Sheikh Sajjad Gul as the Supreme Commander, with Basit Ahmed Dar serving as the Chief Operational Commander. Born on October 10, 1974 in Srinagar, Gul was designated as terrorist by the government in 2022. Of 172 terrorists that were killed in Jammu and Kashmir, 108 were linked to TRF, according to a 2022 data. TRF was initially formed with cadres from Hizbul Mujahideen and LeT, according to reports. The Union government has been calling TRF as a 'proxy' front for the LeT. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) banned the TRF and all its manifestations and front organisations in January 2023. The Ministry has declared them as terrorist organisations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967. The MHA said that "the activities of TRF are detrimental for the national security and sovereignty of India" and that it was 'involved in psychological operations on social media platforms for inciting people of Jammu and Kashmir to join terrorist outfits against Indian state'. The TRF, is recruiting youth through online medium for furtherance of terrorist activities and has been involved in carrying out propaganda on terror activities, recruitment of terrorists, infiltration of terrorists and smuggling of weapons and narcotics from Pakistan into Jammu and Kashmir, the MHA notification said. Before its role in the Pahalgam attack, the TRF had a role in the majority of attacks on civilians, including Kashmiri Pandits and migrant workers, as well as security forces in Kashmir, for many years. The TRF also claimed responsibility for the attack at a construction site in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district, which killed a doctor and six migrant workers in October 2024. TRF chief Gul is said to be the mastermind of the attack. The group's local module, carried out the attack targeting Kashmiris and non-Kashmiris together, according to a TRF statement after the Ganderbal attack in 2024 said. The activities of TRF are detrimental for the national security and sovereignty of India. Another major attack involving TRF was April 1, 2020 when the group engaged in a four-day gun battle near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector of Kupwara. Five Indian para commandos were killed along with the terrorists.

Pakistan, China shivering with fear as India successfully test fired Prithvi-2 and Agni-1 missiles, these weapons capable of..., test carried out at... New Delhi: Following a recent conflict with Pakistan and tensions in the world, it is crucial for India to strengthen its forces and defence capabilities. In recent years, the country has emerged as a leading exporter of defence equipment. During Operation Sindoor, the world has witnessed the prowess of the 'Made in India' BrahMos supersonic missile. Now, further strengthening its missile arsenal, India has successfully tested its short-range ballistic missiles Prithvi-2 and Agni-1. The test firing was conducted at an Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha. 'These launches met all operational and technical parameters. These tests were conducted under the aegis of the Strategic Force Command,' the Defence Ministry statement read. Where Was The Missile Test Conducted? Agni-1 missile was launched from Abdul Kalam Island, while Prithvi-2 was tested sometime later from launch pad no-3 of the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur. Talking about Prithvi-2, it is a short-range ballistic missile with a range of 350 km. Agni-1 is a medium-range ballistic missile was tested by the Strategic Force Command. Agni-I is a short to medium range ballistic missile which has a range of about 700-900 km. it means it can destroy any target under the range of 700-900 km. The strategic weapon system is specially designed to bridge the gap between the Prithvi series and Agni missiles. It is capable of carrying a payload of 1,000 kg. Agni-I is also capable of carrying a nuclear warhead and is a key component of India's credible minimum deterrence capability. What Are The Features Of Prithvi-II? It is a surface-to-surface short-range ballistic missile which is developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) under India's Integrated Guided Missile Development Program. The missile has a range of about 250-350 km. It is capable of carrying both conventional and nuclear warheads. Powered by a liquid propulsion system, the missile is loaded with an advanced navigation system. Why Pakistan And China Should Be Cautious? India's Agni-I missile has a range of 700-900 km, capable of striking major Pakistani cities including Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi, while the Prithvi-II missile has a shorter range of 350 km. The potential impact of these missiles on Pakistan and parts of China is significant, given India's demonstrated military capabilities.

Court Junks FIR Against 70 Who Hosted Tablighi Jamaat Attendees During Covid

The Delhi High Court on Thursday quashed 16 cases against 70 Indian nationals for housing foreign attendees of Tablighi Jamaat congregation in March 2020 allegedly in violation of COVID-19 norms. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna said, "Chargesheets quashed." The court passed the judgment on 16 petitions relating to 70 Indians, who were represented by advocate Ashima Mandla, seeking quashing of FIRs registered against them. A detailed verdict is awaited. Delhi Police previously opposed the pleas for quashing of the FIRs registered for hosting foreign attendees of the congregation of March 2020 and said the accused local residents sheltered the attendees who had come to Nizamuddin Markaz in violation of the prohibitory orders on movement to contain the spread of COVID-19. The foreign nationals, named in some of the FIRs, either pleaded guilty to go back to their country or were discharged or acquitted previously. The petitioners contended there was no documentation on record in either the FIR or chargesheet to indicate that they had been infected by COVID-19 and, therefore, they could not have been accused of spreading the disease under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897. The pleas alleged that the instant case was a classic example in which unsubstantiated allegations were "embellished and exaggerated". Their counsel argued that while the prohibitory orders issued by the Delhi Government specifically prohibited religious congregations and religious gatherings, the attendees who were found inside mosques or in houses were merely provided shelter. The petitioners further claimed the FIR showed the only allegation against them was their alleged presence inside the mosque along with foreign nationals. However, there was no whisper of either any religious or social gathering being held inside the mosque or of the petitioners being COVID-19 positive, they argued. The petitioners were booked under Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), Section 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection) and other offences of IPC. The police alleged numerous inspections were carried out in Nizamuddin Markaz from March 26-31, 2020 in connection with another FIR and several foreign nationals were found to be residing there. However, in early April 2020, it received information that several foreign nationals were residing in Chandni Mahal area and after investigation, "it became clear that the members of the Jamaat had moved from the Markaz in Nizamuddin" which was in derogation of the prohibitory orders by the local authorities, the police had claimed. Police said on March 24, 2020, the Centre also imposed a nationwide lockdown. By accepting and allowing them to reside in the local mosque without any social distancing, it alleged, the accused also breached the Delhi government order closing religious places.
