But what happens when the 'visitor' is a delivery driver from DoorDash, bringing you some food? For one mom, this exact circumstance sent her spiraling.

A young woman took to Reddit recently to share an encounter between her and a mom she was babysitting for that left her absolutely baffled and questioning whether or not she was in the wrong.
'I ordered DoorDash while babysitting because I hadn't eaten since lunch and was getting a headache and they were 2 hours late. The kids were asleep, the food was left on the porch, and I stepped outside for 10 seconds to grab it,' the babysitter explained in the caption.
'The mom told me she was uncomfortable that someone came to the door and that I 'left the kids alone.' When I got home I was told they can't trust me anymore and I was fired,' she added.
Sharing the text exchange online, the babysitter wanted to know if she legitimately did the wrong thing. Especially considering the mom found her on Facebook and did little background checks before hiring her for the evening.
'Was something delivered?'
4 'Yes, I didn't eat dinner so I ordered DoorDash,' the babysitter replied.
The exchange began with the babysitter asking for a rough ETA from the mom after she claimed she'd be back at 8 p.m. – two hours prior.
With a new confirmed arrival time of 11:30 p.m., the babysitter decided to order some dinner via DoorDash. As it turns out, it was the wrong thing to do. And an SMS was received shortly after the doorbell rang.
'Hey our Ring just showed someone at the door. Was something delivered?' the mom asked.
'Yes, I didn't eat dinner so I ordered DoorDash,' the babysitter replied.
And that's when things spiraled.
'Okay, we'll talk when we get home, but I'm really concerned that you would do that without asking first. I would never be okay with a stranger coming to the door while my kids are sleeping. I really wish you had asked me before doing that,' the mom shot back – clearly not mincing her words.
'Please check to make sure the storm door is locked and the chain is locked as well since you opened them.'

4 Unfortunately for the babysitter, the clarification of events still wasn't enough.
The babysitter apologized and went on to explain that she didn't anticipate still being at their home looking after the children after dinner, but due to the time change, she needed to order something.
'I'm sorry I made you uncomfortable. I just hadn't eaten since lunch and I thought I'd be done by 8 like you mentioned. I started getting a headache and I really needed to eat something. I've ordered food before while babysitting and it's never been a problem, so I didn't think it would be an issue,' she wrote back, while also offering some reassurance that she did all the right things.
'They left it at the door, and I waited until they were gone before I went out to grab it and locked the doors the way they were when I came back in.'
Unfortunately for the babysitter, the clarification of events still wasn't enough.
'I get that you were hungry, but it's more about the fact that someone came to the door without my knowledge and you left them in the house alone while you grabbed it. If something had happened it just makes me really nervous,' the mom replied.
'You could have eaten from the cabinet. This is my home and my kids and I need to be able to fully trust who's here. We will talk later. Just please double check the doors.'
The exchange ended with another apology from the babysitter.
Babysitters weigh in with their horror stories

The post attracted many babysitters sharing their own horror stories – and this one is pretty tame compared to some.
'One time I babysat for people who found out that I went downstairs after putting their kid to sleep upstairs and they not only fired me, but talked sh** about me to other clients and I lost a couple jobs because of it,' someone commented.
'I'll be honest, my first instinct is this person is up to something that puts them at real risk. I have babysat for people who were pretty paranoid, but absolutely no one was to this level,' another added.
Another babysitter shared: 'Once when I was a teen, I was babysitting regularly for a couple who had a young boy with autism, about 5. One night, they were supposed to be home by 7, but there was massive flooding and they couldn't get home until the next morning. About 5 a.m. they walked in the door and shook me awake cuz I'd fallen asleep on the couch. They then fired me for sleeping.'
And plenty agreed that this level of concern wasn't warranted.
'This is ridiculous. Not only is she wildly inconsiderate for staying out 3.5 hours later without even asking you if that was okay…but you had to reach out to her to find out when she was coming home?' someone said.
Others agreed that the mom was 'overreacting' and that the babysitter should 'drop her' as a client.

Posts share false Bangladesh jet crash death toll
A school in Bangladesh said 22 students died after a fighter jet crashed into its campus in the capital Dhaka, contrary to false claims circulating online that put the death toll at 247. A spokesperson for the school said the numbers mentioned in the false posts are impossible, as they exceeded the number of people on campus at the time. "Dead -- 247; injured -- 522. Source: Milestone School authority," reads a Bengali-language Facebook post shared on July 23, two days after the disaster. Pupils had just been let out of class when a Chinese-made F-7 BJI aircraft slammed into the private Milestone School and College in Dhaka (archived link). The post generated over 100 comments from users who appeared confused over the figures mentioned, which were higher than official reports. Some suggested there was a cover-up while others appeared to believe the false claim. "How cruel! We are always the scapegoats," one said. Another wrote, "Many die and they say 26/27 people died." Similar Facebook posts also racked up more shares but the school dismissed the claims. "This is completely baseless and wrong information," Milestone School and College coordinator Lutfunnessa Lopa told AFP on July 24. The claims are "impossible", she said, as the number of injured people mentioned in the false posts -- 522 -- exceeded those present at the campus at the time of the crash. AFP found no report on the school's website or Facebook page that stated the number of dead in the crash as 247 (archived here and here). The school authority released a statement on the day stating 22 students had died so far in the disaster, while many critical patients are receiving treatments in different hospitals (archived link). Lopa said that the number only covers the children who died, while the government's official death toll includes parents, teachers and staff who were killed. Special prayers were held across Bangladesh on July 25, as the death toll from the disaster rose to 32 (archived link). Bangladesh's Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate also separately refuted the posts. "It has been observed that widespread rumours are being spread on social media regarding the death toll at Milestone School and College. 'Hoarding situation': 400 guinea pigs saved from California property
A Southern California nonprofit announced it rescued around 400 guinea pigs this week from a Los Angeles property where they slept outside "with improper food, water, and care." The Southern California Guinea Pig Rescue (SCGPR) said in a July 21 Facebook post that it received a request from the Los Angeles Animal Services (LAAS) on July 15 regarding "a hoarding situation" in South Los Angeles involving up to 200 guinea pigs in need of rescue. The LAAS told the nonprofit that the owner of the guinea pigs was facing eviction from her rental property unless all the animals were removed by July 19, according to the social media post. At this point, the SCGPR made contact with the tenant, who allowed them to come by the property on July 17 to begin removing the guinea pigs. USA TODAY contacted the LAAS and SCGPR on Saturday, July 26, but has not received a response. Guinea pig removal process begins While removing the guinea pigs, the SCGPR said in the Facebook post that "it became immediately clear that the situation was critical." Rescuers noticed "pervasive medical conditions" in the animals, including ringworm, pregnancies, open wounds and neurological issues, the post continued, adding that the guinea pigs also "lacked access to adequate space, bedding, water, and food." The number of guinea pigs may have increased without intervention due to the males and females not being separated, or fixed, according to the SCGPR. Guinea pigs can reproduce at 3 weeks of age and can become pregnant within hours of giving birth, the nonprofit added. The SCGPR managed to rescue 33 guinea pigs from the property, while the nonprofit said the LAAS would remove the remaining animals. Remaining guinea pigs removed from LA property In a July 24 Facebook post, the SCGPR wrote that LAAS removed all remaining guinea pigs from the property that afternoon. "We know that females and young babies went to (Los Angeles Guinea Pig Rescue and Adoption Center), and the remaining boys were booked into LAAS to be split up between the 6 city shelters," the post reads. The post also contains SCGPR Co-founder and CEO Valerie Warren's written reaction to the entire situation, "The last week has been one of the most draining ones of my rescue career. The emotional toll of being on that property a week ago with my 4 rescue colleagues has been a heavy one, but tonight I will be able to breathe a sigh of relief and sleep much better than I have in a week." According to Warren, LAAS does not have the exact headcount for the rescued guinea pigs, but she said the SCGPR's early estimate of 300 to 400 animals appears to be correct. "We are SO relieved these pigs are out of that situation," Warren wrote.
