Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development showcases agricultural innovations at SusHi Tech Tokyo conference
ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development participates in the SusHi Tech Tokyo conference, which takes place in Japan from May 8-10, highlighting innovations of five sponsored projects in smart and sustainable agriculture.As part of Abu Dhabi's economic delegation to Japan, Khalifa Fund's participating projects in SusHi Tech Tokyo include the Gracia group, which represents a leading model in smart and sustainable agriculture in the UAE, and the Rafiq application, an innovative platform that facilitates maintenance and decoration services, in addition to three projects three startups under the umbrella of Khalifa Fund, that excelled during the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development competition as part of the events of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Business Week in December 2024. These projects include Hyvego, a leader in biotechnology and climate technology, Nutrigenix, which operates in the field of nutrition, and Viai Tech, which focuses on developing sports tools and applications using AI technologies. Eleven companies will be promoted under the Khalifa Fund Export Support Programme.The participation at the event aims to showcase the innovative projects of the participating members and enhance opportunities for business collaboration, knowledge exchange and technology transfer. It provides a platform for Abu Dhabi's prominent figures in technology and entrepreneurship to share their innovations and exchange knowledge and experiences with their global peers, reinforcing the emirate's position as a global hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.Mouza Obaid Al Nasri, Acting CEO of Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, said: 'Abu Dhabi's participation in this prestigious conference demonstrates the astute leadership's dedication to utilising the most recent developments in this area and strengthening the UAE's standing as a worldwide centre for digital innovation." She added, "A component of Abu Dhabi's vision to develop an economy based on innovation is the Khalifa Fund's backing of initiatives that develop and adopt advanced technologies. Additionally, the conference offers a significant opportunity to increase collaborations with international firms that specialise in cutting-edge technologies.'
More than 50,000 people from worldwide will attend the SusHi Tech Tokyo conference, which includes more than 500 start-ups. Numerous businesses that depend on the newest advancements in AI technologies and breakthroughs from a variety of industries, including architecture, food, health, finance, energy, sports, entertainment, space, web3, and generative AI, are also drawn to the event. Emirati business owners now have the chance to network with influential figures in the sector and exhibit their proposals on a global platform.

'They also support energy independence and reduce transmission losses.'Schneider Electric particularly highlighted the deployment of modular microgrid solutions that combine solar PV, battery storage, and energy management systems. 'These systems are sustainable and economically viable, thanks to the falling costs of renewables and storage technologies,' the expert standout innovation in the sector is the use of digital twins. 'In Abu Dhabi, where large-scale infrastructure projects are the norm, digital twins help create virtual replicas of physical assets, enabling predictive maintenance, performance optimisation, and scenario planning,' Chadli combining digital twins with AI and Internet of Things, 'we can simulate energy flows, forecast demand, and optimise asset performance in real time – improving operational efficiency while supporting the emirate's Net Zero by 2050 ambitions,' she added. Beyond Sustainable InfrastructureChadli emphasised that this transformation is not limited to Abu Dhabi's buildings or urban development alone. 'Digitalisation is the real hero here – with AI-driven insights and real-time data analytics, we are helping oil and gas companies optimise energy use, reduce emissions, and improve operational efficiency.'AI and predictive analytics, Chadli added, 'are transforming how we generate and consume energy'. Amid the evolving landscape, training and upskilling the workforce is also crucial.'The UAE's Net Zero strategy is projected to create 200,000 jobs in the energy industry,' said Chadli, stressing the need for green and digital skills. 'Companies must realise that talent is a strategic asset. There is a real opportunity here for digital academies, reskilling training, and hands-on training.'

The attack caused damage to the vessel's structure, forcing its crew to abandon ship under difficult maritime a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) confirmed that the UAE's response operation successfully rescued all 22 individuals aboard the vessel, including crew and security rescue operation was carried out in close coordination with specialized maritime authorities, including the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) and the relevant international organizations, in accordance with the highest standards of safety and emergency response.
