'Certified anti-national': BJP's Amit Malviya accuses Rahul Gandhi of foreign ties, claims he signed MoU with China

Reacting after Supreme Court's observations on Rahul Gandhi's defamation case, Amit Malviya took to X, stating, 'Rahul Gandhi is now a certified anti-national.'
The BJP IT cell chief alleged that Rahul sought 'support from foreign powers' during the 2024 elections. 'In the run-up to 2024, he sought support from foreign powers to dislodge a democratically elected Indian government. He has signed a secret MoU with the Communist Party of China — details of which remain hidden from the public.
Shortly thereafter, the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation received donations from the Chinese state, and went on to author a report that recommended opening India's economy to Chinese interests,' Malviya said.
He further accused Rahul of siding with China during a critical national security moment. 'During the Galwan face-off, when India was defending its sovereignty, Rahul Gandhi chose to receive a briefing from Chinese officials instead of Indian diplomats.
He routinely makes baseless and demoralising remarks about the Indian Army — statements that are amplified by adversaries,' he alleged.
Malviya also claimed that during multiple visits to the West, Rahul met groups and individuals hostile to India and 'often echoed narratives designed to undermine India's global image and obstruct its rise as a major power.'
Referring to the Supreme Court's remarks while staying the defamation case against Rahul, Malviya said, 'Now, the Supreme Court's stinging observation has only validated what Bharat has been saying all along.'

Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court stayed the defamation case against Rahul but advised him to make statements responsibly in Parliament rather than on social media. The court asked him the basis for his remarks, saying, "How do you get to know that 2000 sq km land was occupied by Chinese, if you are true Indian, you wouldn't say such a thing." It further told him, "You are Leader of Opposition. Say things in Parliament, why do you have say it on social media?" PTI quoted the court as saying.

Supreme Court stays Kerala HC ban on single-use plastics in state
The Supreme Court Monday stayed the Kerala High Court order banning use and sale of Single-Use Plastics (SUPs) in the state. A bench of Chief Justice of India B R Gavai and K Vinod Chandran also issued notice to the state on the appeal challenging the June 17, 2025 order which came on a writ petition initiated suo motu by the HC in 2023. The plea contended that though the petition initiated following a fire at the Solid Waste Plant in Brahmapuram in Kochi was initially limited to enforcing the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, the June 17 order, went beyond this scope and issued directions under the Plastic Waste Management rules. It said the HC's directions go beyond, and in some parts contradict, the existing Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016. The HC in its order noted SUP use had become rampant in all areas of the State. —ENS

Senior BJP leader and Lok Sabha MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy got a taste of the bitterness between TMC leaders Kalyan Banerjee and Mahua Moitra on Monday. Rudy, who is contesting against his party colleague Sanjeev Balyan for the post of secretary (administration), Constitution Club of India, was at the Makar Dwar of the Parliament House when he saw Banerjee leaving the premises. Rudy approached Banerjee, a four-time MP from Serampore, seeking his vote but the latter shouted at him that he would not support anyone who is backed by Moitra. 'You are supported by Mahua Moitra. Jamshedpur: Prominent politicians from Kolhan on Monday paid rich tributes to Shibu Soren and recalled their first meeting with him. Former CM Arjun Munda , who started his political career with JMM before switching to the BJP, said he was drawn to Shibu in the 1980s. "The charisma of Disom Guru Shibu Soren was like a magnetic pull, which drew me closer to his agitation, against the money lenders and land grabbers, as a schoolboy in the 1980s," he said. Recalling that his family too was a victim of land sharks, Munda, a former Union minister, said a fire was kindled in him as a young boy when he heard about Shibu, a man from Santhal Pargana, who was taking the pain to ensure that adivasi land is not grabbed by crafty money lenders "I physically first saw Guruji during a public rally in Telco area of Jamshedpur, where thousands of Adivasis had gathered to hear their leader, who promised to fight for their rights. I was so motivated by his speech that I decided instantly to join the movement under the leadership of this long hair-bearded man in kurta pajamas, who by that time had become my hero," said Munda. "After joining his movement as a student, I along with many others used to move from village to village in dense forest areas in night, then Chotanagpur of undivided Bihar, to escape the eyes of police and powerful money lenders and apprise the locals of their land rights, along with how to save it from the land sharks.
