Angel Reese Shares Bold Statement After Chicago Sky Drafts Van Lith 11th Overall
After the Chicago Sky announced that Van Lith would be the 11th pick in the 2025 draft, Reese reacted to the news on X, formerly Twitter.
"We ain't do it right the first time. Let's run it backkkkk," Reese wrote.
For those who may be confused by Reese's words, the Bayou Barbie is referring to LSU's NCAA Tournament loss in 2024, when Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes defeated them in the Elite Eight.

Later, Van Lith transferred to Texas Christian University (TCU), leading them to a Big 12 Championship and a deep run in the 2025 March Madness competition.
Following the news of the Sky's draft pick, Las Vegas Aces player Chelsea Gray told her peers not to "sleep on an 11th pick," referring to herself during the 2014 draft.
"Oh, we won't, Cap," Reese responded. "Thank yaaaa."
Angel Reese Haters Are Attempting To Stir Up Trouble Online
Van Lith's interview with Holly Rowe after being selected by the Sky has gone viral on X, but not for the right reasons.

A user replied, suggesting Van Lith was "gritting her teeth" because she had to "go back to playing with Angel Reese."
Another user said something similar, writing, "She's not happy to be back with Angel Reese."
However, other users defended the 22-year-old and pointed to her thriving relationship with Van Lith.
"Y'all do know both Angel and Hailey like each other and speak highly of the other, right?" a user asked.

She went on to say that she's "excited to be around [Angel] again" because of her "intensity" on the court.
"I really appreciate her," Van Lith continued. "We have a very mature relationship. A mutual relationship where we both have respect for each other's game and also the character and the person we are off the court."
She added, "She turns up the intensity of everybody around her. I'm excited to be in that environment with her again where she can pull more out of me than I think I have."
Van Lith Is 'Counting Down The Days' Before She Joins SkyTown
Van Lith, 23, is also looking forward to arriving in Chicago so she can start the season ahead.

In a fun Instagram video shared by the Sky, the athlete told the team's 570,000-plus followers that she couldn't wait to get to work.
"What is up SkyTown? This is Hailey Van Lith checking in with y'all. I cannot wait to touch down and meet y'all, see y'all, [and] be in the gym with y'all. [I'm] counting down the days. Let's get it," she said.
Reese Talks Trash For The Love Of The Game

In a previous interview, Reese opened up about some of the criticism she's received surrounding her personality on the court. However, the LSU alum maintains that it's "not personal."

"I don't think people realize it's not personal," she said before mentioning her relationship with the Indiana Fever's Caitlin Clark. "Me and [Clark] don't hate each other. I want everybody to understand that. It's just a super competitive game, and I would just wish people realized that."
She went on to say that when she's on the court, her friendships with the other players go out of the window.
"I have plenty of friends on the court that I talk to outside of the game. But when I get between those lines, we're not friends. We're not buddies," she said. "I'm going to talk trash to you. I'm going to do whatever it takes to get in your head the whole entire game, but after the game, we can kick it. I don't think people really realize that, and that's fine; I'll take the villain role."

Rockets assistant coach Royal Ivey named to Texas Athletics Hall of Honor
Assistant coach Royal Ivey is joining Kevin Durant and DJ Augustin (front office) as current Rockets who are in the Texas Athletics Hall of Honor. Houston Rockets assistant coach Royal Ivey, who previously played in college at the University of Texas and then for several NBA teams, will soon be inducted into the Texas Athletics Hall of Honor. Ivey is among 10 individuals that will be recognized as the Class of 2025 during a Sept. 12 induction ceremony in Austin. Details on the ceremony are available here. From his Texas Hall of Honor biography: A four-year starter at both point guard and shooting guard during his career at Texas, Royal Ivey left his mark as one of the top one-on-one perimeter defenders in program history. A two-time Big 12 Conference All-Defensive Team selection, he finished his collegiate career ranked first in games started (126), tied for third in games played (133), and 24th in scoring (1,036 points). Ivey helped lead the Longhorns to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including three-straight trips to the Sweet 16 (2002, 2003, and 2004) and a spot in the 2003 Final Four. In addition to Ivey's extensive NBA ties, both as a player and assistant coach, the 43-year-old was also the head coach when South Sudan secured its first-ever Olympic berth and victory during the 2024 Olympics cycle. He has been considered for NBA head coaching jobs in recent years and might soon land one, though he's returning to the staff of Ime Udoka for at least one more season in Houston. As for the Texas Hall of Honor, Ivey joins Kevin Durant and DJ Augustin as current members of the Rockets who are part of that exclusive club of Longhorns legends. Durant was acquired by trade this offseason, and Augustin is a former player who is back with Houston as a front-office member. Both Durant (2006-07) and Augustin (2006-08) also played at Texas during the 2000s decade, although a few years later than Ivey (2001-04). More: Despite external coaching inquiries, Royal Ivey likely to stay with Rockets, Ime Udoka

Clemson's T.J. Parker Fires Back at LSU HC Brian Kelly's 'Death Valley Jr.' Remark
LSU head coach Brian Kelly made headlines last month when he referred to Clemson's Memorial Stadium as "Death Valley Junior," and Clemson defensive end T.J. Parker fired back at Kelly on Thursday. "They can have their opinion," Parker said, according to On3. "We're gonna handle all that on August 30. At the end of the day, we can do all the talking. We still got to play. So, we gonna see. You know what I'm saying? They're hyping up everybody across the board, all these transfers they got — we'll see." LSU travels to South Carolina to take on Clemson in a highly anticipated season opener for both programs on Aug. 30. LSU hasn't won a season opener under Kelly and has lost five consecutive Week 1 games dating back to 2020. Despite only having met four times previously, the rivalry between these two programs has continued to grow over the years, with both schools referring to their stadium as Death Valley. The two programs last met in 2019, when LSU crushed Clemson by double digits to win the national championship. Earlier this month, Kelly, the winningest active NCAA coach, said LSU is "letting Clemson borrow the name." "There's always fuel for the fire," Swinney said, per 247Sports. Clemson's Memorial Stadium was first referred to as Death Valley in 1948, while LSU's Tiger Stadium was first called Death Valley more than a decade later in 1959, when LSU defeated Clemson in the Sugar Bowl that same year. Clemson is returning 16 starters from last season, including All-ACC quarterback Cade Klubnik, while LSU is also returning its star QB, Garrett Nussmeier, and reeled in the No. 2 class in On3's 2025 Team Transfer Portal Rankings. Angel Reese #5 of the Chicago Sky hits Nneka Ogwumike #3 of the Seattle Storm in the faceat Climate Pledge Arena on July 05, 2024 in Seattle, to Watch Strom vs Sky When: Thursday, July 24, 2025 Time: 8:30 PM ET TV Channel: WCIU (Local) Live Stream: Fubo (WATCH NOW) While the Storm had to be pleased with a 14-9 record at the All-Star break, they were certainly disappointed with a brutal performance in their last game, an 87-63 loss at home to the struggling Dallas Wings. Seattle took care of the ball well, turning it over only nine times, but struggled to make shots. Nneka Ogwuimike scored 22 points on 10-for-19 from the field, but the rest of the team went just 13-for-56 (23.2%). Chicago finds itself in a similar situation, having won two games in a row and playing much better basketball. Since then, they've dropped three straight, the most recent being a 91-68 thrashing at the hands of the Minnesota Lynx. The Sky shot just 39.3% from the field for the game and turned the ball over 21 times, including nine from Angel Reese. The Storm and Sky will face each other two more times, both in the back half of August. This is not a nationally televised game, but it can still be streamed locally via Fubo.
