Donald Trump orders nuclear submarines to be moved closer to Russia

US President Donald Trump has reportedly ordered for nuclear submarines to be moved closer to Russia following statements made by the country's former president.
In a Truth Social post on Friday, Trump called out ex-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev after what he described as 'highly provocative' and 'foolish and inflammatory' statements, saying that he had ordered two nuclear submarines to "appropriate regions" closer to Russia, reports The Mirror.
"Based on the highly provocative statements of the Former President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, who is now the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, I have ordered two Nuclear Submarines to be positioned in the appropriate regions, just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that," Mr Trump said. "Words are very important, and can often lead to unintended consequences, I hope this will not be one of those instances. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
Mr Trump and Medvedev, the deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, traded taunts in recent days after the US President said on Tuesday that Russia had 10 days to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine or be hit, along with its oil, with higher tariffs.
Medvedev accused Mr Trump of engaging in a "game of ultimatums" and said Russia still possessed Soviet-era nuclear strike capabilities after the Republican told the former president to "watch his words".
The war of words emerged after Mr Trump reportedly undid months of denying or limiting aid to Ukraine as he aimed to broker a peace between Kyiv and Moscow.

Internet melts down over man who 'looks like George W. Bush wearing a Trump wig'

Social media users said the man in the image looks like "George Bush in a Trump wig" A Florida state senator's post online quickly gained attention — due to a man in the picture who users say looks like "George Bush in a Trump wig." ‌ Florida State Sen. Jay Collins, who represents Florida's 14th district, took to X to post a picture of himself and several of his political allies as they attended the Florida Freedom Forum. ‌ "Just arrived at the Florida Freedom Forum, standing shoulder to shoulder with fellow patriots ready to defend our country right here at home," he captioned the photo."Fired up for an action-packed weekend filled with faith, freedom, and the fight to save America." The identity of the men in the photo remains unclear, aside from Collins. "That dude is what happens if you put Trump and George W in a blender," another chimed in, referencing the man standing just to Collins' left, who bears a striking resemblance to the current president but boasts the facial features of the former president. ‌ "Why are you standing next to George Bush in a Trump wig?" another user commented, attaching a surprised emoji. Yet another wrote, "Why does he look like Trump and Bush in one person?" "Is that George Bush dressed as Trump? What the hell?" one added, attaching four laughing emojis. One wrote that "43 and 47 merged," referring to Bush's and Trump's presidencies. "This is satire, right? It must be," they wrote. ‌ Who is Jay Collins? And why is he important? Jay Collins is a former Green Beret in the U.S. Army who served from 1995 to 2018. Trump threatens to ramp up tariffs on India for its dealing with 'Russian War Machine'

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP threatened today to 'substantially' hike US tariffs on goods from India over its purchases of Russian oil – a key source of revenue for Moscow's war on Ukraine. Trump's heightened pressure on India comes after he signalled fresh sanctions on Moscow if Russia did not make progress by Friday towards a peace deal with Ukraine, more than three years since Russia's full-scale invasion. Moscow is anticipating talks with the US leader's special envoy Steve Witkoff, who is expected to meet President Vladimir Putin this week. Today, Trump said in a post to his Truth Social platform that India was 'buying massive amounts of Russian Oil' and selling it for 'big profits.' 'They don't care how many people in Ukraine are being killed by the Russian War Machine,' Trump added. 'Because of this, I will be substantially raising the Tariff paid by India to the USA.' But he did not provide details on what tariff level he had in mind. Advertisement For now, an existing 10 percent US tariff on Indian products is expected to rise to 25 percent come Thursday. Today's threats against India come after Trump last week ordered the deployment of two nuclear submarines in response to what he called 'provocative' comments from Russia's ex-president. Russia, in its first comments on the deployment, today urged 'caution'. 'Russia is very attentive to the topic of nuclear non-proliferation. And we believe that everyone should be very, very cautious with nuclear rhetoric,' the Kremlin's Peskov said. The chief of staff to Zelenskyy today backed Trump's actions. 'The concept of peace through strength works,' Andriy Yermak wrote on social media. 'The moment American nuclear submarines appeared, one Russian drunk — who had just been threatening nuclear war on X – suddenly went silent,' he added. Trump has previously threatened that new measures could mean 'secondary tariffs' targeting Russia's remaining trade partners, such as China and India. This would further stifle Russia, but would risk significant international disruption. - © AFP 2025

JD Vance 'embarrassingly photoshopped' by GOP to give him tiny waist and chopped thumb

Internet users have accused the GOP of photoshopping a picture of the Vice President shared on its account for his 41st birthday The GOP have been accused of photoshopping a photo of Vice President JD Vance that was shared on their X page. ‌ The Republican Party shared a photograph of Vance, who was the subject of a humiliating Trump meme, on its official social media account in honor of his 41st birthday on Friday, Aug. 2. ‌ Some eagle-eyed internet sleuths pointed out that Vance's thumb appears to be cut off, the stars in the background look oddly placed, his arm seems dislocated, and—at the very least—his shoulder is covering the 'Y' in the word 'Birthday' they photoshopped into the image, prompting both agreement and pushback online. It comes after a Trump family member revealed his body is 'rotting inside' as she delivered a terrifying update on the president's health. "And why would they not see they cut off his thumb?" one user questioned. "@JDVance is not that snatched! What in the Ozempic Photoshop is this?" a critical user wrote. ‌ "The photoshop you guys did to his face and then to make his [waist] smaller is hilarious. LMFAO so embarrassing," another added, though several users questioned this theory. However, others criticized users for overanalyzing the celebratory image. "They literally just did a mediocre photoshop job on his arm for text layover, get out of mom's basement," one savagely replied. ‌ Photoshop is a powerful editing tool often used to clean up or enhance images — but it can also be used to alter appearances, add or remove elements, or adjust proportions. Online, users have become adept at spotting telltale signs of manipulation, like missing limbs, warped backgrounds, or awkward layering. Photoshop, a widely used image-editing software developed by Adobe, allows users to retouch, reshape, and manipulate photos with remarkable precision. Common tools include the ability to smooth skin, slim body parts, remove objects, and overlay text or graphics. ‌ In political and marketing contexts, Photoshop is often used to enhance appearances, adjust lighting, or make layouts cleaner for social media — but even subtle edits can create unnatural distortions or fuel public skepticism if inconsistently applied. Meantime, Vance has been very open about his weight loss journey. He told The Daily Mail last summer that he lost 30 lbs. by dieting and exercising, dispelling rumors about taking weight loss drugs. ‌ "I haven't taken any drugs. Obviously, you eat a little bit less, but it's also just eating better," he told The Daily Mail in August 2024 while on the campaign trail. He said that he decided to embark on a fitness journey after getting frustrated by his shortness of breath while playing with his children following his successful Senate race. He said last August that he started skipping breakfast, though he used to relish in eating large morning meals, including three waffles, scrambled eggs and bacon. He said he also began running and going to the gym regularly. It comes after Trump's real shockingly thin hair was finally exposed in pictures when he took a helmet off.
