Washington Freedom crush Seattle Orcas to go second on MLC table

Florida [US], July 5 (ANI): Shimron Hetmyer had been the hero for Seattle Orcas in their last three games, but this time he couldn't save his team. With Hetmyer having an off day, the Orcas' batting collapsed again, managing just 82 runs. Washington Freedom made light work of the chase, reaching the target in just 9.2 overs to move up to second place on the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 points table, as per ESPNcricinfo.
Freedom won the toss and chose to bowl first. They made an instant impact. Saurabh Netravalkar took a wicket with the very first ball, removing Shayan Jahangir. In the next over, Glenn Maxwell dismissed Aaron Jones. Netravalkar struck again in the third, sending Sikandar Raza back, and Maxwell picked up two more in the powerplay, Steven Taylor and Kyle Mayers leaving Orcas reeling at 21/5 after six overs.
Maxwell finished with impressive figures of 3/12 runs in four overs. Netravalkar also ended with 3/13, getting his third in the 16th over. Jack Edwards chipped in too, picking up 3/19, including the key wicket of Heinrich Klaasen, who was the only Orcas batter to fight back with 48 runs from 39 balls before being the last man out.
In response, Freedom had a smooth chase. Although Raza removed Mitchell Owen in the third over, Rachin Ravindra and Mukhtar Ahmed put together a solid stand. By the end of the powerplay, they had already scored 50/1, needing only 37 more runs from the remaining 14 overs. They got the job done in just over 3 more overs. Ravindra scored 32 off 23 balls before getting out, while Mukhtar remained unbeaten on 36 from 21 deliveries.
Despite this heavy loss, the Orcas are still in the race for the playoffs thanks to their earlier three-game winning streak. They remain in fourth place with nine games played. MI New York, currently fifth, are just one win behind with a game in hand. (ANI)

Against England in the fourth U19 ODI of the five-match series, Suryavanshi scored all over the park, demolishing the English attack with a 78-ball 143, consisting of 13 fours and 10 sixes at a strike rate of 183.33. Suryavanshi's ton came in 52 balls, surpassing that of Pakistan's Kamran Ghulam in 53 balls against England back in 2013. He also broke his own record of most sixes in an innings in U19 cricket, with 10 maximums, passing the nine sixes hit in the last match. He became the youngest-ever centurion in U19 ODIs at the age of 14 years and 100 days. Suryavanshi is the leading run-getter of the series by miles, scoring 322 runs in four matches at an average of 80.50 and a strike rate of 198.76, with a century and a fifty each. Coming to the match, India was put to bat first by England U19, who won the toss and opted to field first. Centuries from Suryanvashi and Vihaan Malhotra (101* in 111 balls, with 12 fours and a six) took India to 302/4 in 40 overs at the time of writing. During the third ODI, Suryavanshi scored 86 in just 31 balls, with six fours and nine sixes. His runs came at a strike rate of over 277. He also broke the record for most sixes by an Indian U19 batter in an innings. The fastest half-century for India in U19 ODI cricket belongs to Rishabh Pant, who smashed it in just 18 balls against Nepal back in 2016. Suryavanshi has the second-fastest U19 ODI fifty for India. South African Steve Stolk owns the record for the fastest U19 fifty, scoring it in 13 balls against Scotland last January. India's home white-ball series against Bangladesh postponed to September 2026
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 5 (ANI): The Indian team's home white-ball series against Bangladesh has been postponed from August 2025 to September next year, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Saturday. The BCCI, in a statement, announced that it and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have reached a mutual agreement to defer the series, consisting of three Tests and ODIs each. 'The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have mutually agreed to defer the white-ball series, three ODIs and three Twenty20 Internationals, between Bangladesh and India in August 2025 to September 2026,' the statement said. This decision has been reached following discussions between the two Boards, taking into account the international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams. The BCB looks forward to welcoming India in September 2026 for this eagerly anticipated series. Revised dates and fixtures for the tour will be announced in due course. India's last ODI assignment was the ICC Champions Trophy, where they emerged victorious after beating New Zealand in the finals by four wickets.
