Liverpool told to sign 'throwback' Arsenal transfer target to replace Luis Diaz

Emile Heskey has urged Liverpool to sign one of Arsenal's transfer targets if they decide to cash in on Luis Diaz this summer. The Colombian has been the subject of interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich this summer after lifting the Premier League title with Liverpool last season. The English club rebuffed an approach from Barca earlier in the summer and in recent days have turned down a £58.6million bid from Bayern. Liverpool are said to be in no hurry to sell Diaz this summer, who they value at €100m (£86.8m), but the 28-year-old winger is said to be keen for a new challenge. With two years still to run on his contract, this summer could prove the ideal time to cash in on Diaz, and former Reds striker Heskey believes a move could well be in Liverpool's interest. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. 'If Bayern Munich step up and are paying the right price, then I think it has to be considered,' he told 'Everyone is available if the price is right. 'I think it would be decent business if they could get a good offer in and move him on, but then the next thing to consider is who to get him in.' Liverpool have already spent heavily this summer, but would be expected to dip back into the market for a replacement to Diaz should the Colombian leave. And Heskey reckons the Merseyside club should consider a move for Anthony Gordon to provide a similar pace and dynamism to Diaz down the left flank. 'One player I like is Anthony Gordon at Newcastle, he'd be a great option,' Heskey added. 'He'd give you someone direct, who still understands how to take players on and beat them. 'He's a winger who gives you width and gets to the byline, who can entertain. 'We've lost that a bit and Anthony is a bit of a throwback to earlier times, but his dribbling and direct attacking gets fans off their seats.' More Trending Liverpool attempted to sign Gordon from Newcastle last summer but were unable to reach an agreement. The England international scored six goals and registered five assists in the Premier League last season and was among Arsenal's list of transfer targets this summer as they look for greater depth in wide attacking positions. The Gunners are already closing in on the signing of Noni Madueke from Chelsea to provide more depth on the flanks. Mikel Arteta's side have also been linked with Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, who has also been attracting interest from Liverpool in recent days. For more stories like this, check our sport page. BREAKING NEWS Marcus Rashford 'targeted by European giants' who hope to rival Barcelona as he moves closer to Man United exit door

The race for Marcus Rashford is hotting up as Juventus have now reportedly emerged as contenders for his signature. Rashford is known to be keen for a move to Barcelona and while the Spanish giants are interested, they are yet to make a move for him. The 28-year-old announced in December that he is 'ready for a new challenge,' effectively calling time on a journey with United which began when he was seven. He spent the latter half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, where he scored four goals, but they chose not to sign him permanently. Rashford still has three years left on his £300,000-per-week deal at Old Trafford. In recent days, The Sun have claimed that Jose Mourinho is eager for a reunion with Rashford at Fenerbahce, with reports in Turkey saying they are willing to meet his £40million valuation. And now Sky Sport Italia claims Juventus are exploring a potential deal for the wantaway former England striker. More to follow.

Chelsea 'target ANOTHER forward' despite having already spent £173m revamping their frontline - but deal 'hinges on sale of striker to rivals'

Chelsea are reportedly targeting a highly rated Premier League attacker to further bolster their forward line - but it relies on a head rolling from their current crop. The Blues have already spent a whopping £173million on forwards this summer, hoovering up Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Liam Delap, and Estevao Willian. But Enzo Maresca is not done there and wants to add more firepower to build on their stunning Club World Cup glory. Chelsea are ready to train their crosshairs on Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, according to The Telegraph's Matt Law. Villa only signed him from Middlesbrough for £15m in January 2024 but with five years left on his contract, and after a brilliant season which saw him score 14 goals and assist a further 15, Chelsea will need to fork out a lot more. To facilitate his arrival, the Stamford Bridge side will look to sell Nicolas Jackson - perhaps to Villa. More to follow.
