Walton Goggins reveals tragic link to 'The White Lotus' plotline after wife's suicide: 'I was as lost as Rick'

Walton Goggins has spoken candidly about the emotional journey of filming The White Lotus season 3 in Thailand—a country forever tied to the grief of losing his first wife, Leanne Goggins, who died by suicide in 2004.
In a heartfelt interview with GQ, the actor revealed how returning to locations he once visited in mourning reawakened profound memories.
'It was a very complicated story,' Goggins said. 'I thought it was really unrecoverable for me. Life on the other side of that.'
Leanne Goggins, born Leanne Knight in 1967 in New Brunswick, Canada, lived a life shaped by passion and resilience. She battled early health complications, including jaundice, but went on to earn a degree and pursue her love for animals. Leanne founded Canyon Dog Walking, one of Hollywood Hills' most successful pet care businesses.
She met Goggins in 2000 during the filming of Shanghai Noon. The couple married a year later and settled in Los Angeles. However, Leanne's struggle with depression and the pressures of relocating from Canada led to strain in the marriage. In November 2004, Leanne died after falling from a 17th-floor building in Los Angeles. Her death, ruled a suicide, occurred shortly after she had reportedly filed for divorce.
Returning to Thailand, Goggins recognised filming locations as places he had visited right after Leanne's death. 'That's where I was the very first day I came here, 20 years ago, and in so much f--king pain,' he said.
Now married to filmmaker Nadia Conners and father to their son Augustus, Goggins reflected on how far he has come. 'I wish I could whisper in [my younger self's] ear, 'You're going to be okay… if you can just hold on.''

American Eagle defends Sydney Sweeney campaign amid eugenics accusations

American Eagle has addressed the controversy surrounding its fall 2025 campaign featuring Sydney Sweeney, following widespread online backlash and confusion over the tagline 'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans.' The viral campaign sparked debate after a clip showed Sweeney saying, 'Genes are passed down from parents to offspring… My jeans are blue.' The wordplay between 'genes' and 'jeans' ignited accusations online that the ad promoted a subtle racial message or even eugenics. Critics, particularly on TikTok, claimed the combination of Sweeney's blue eyes, blonde hair, and scripted dialogue made the campaign a 'racialized dog whistle.' In response, American Eagle issued a statement on Instagram: 'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story. We'll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way.' While some condemned the campaign as tone-deaf, others defended Sweeney and the brand, dismissing the outrage as overblown. 'Y'all are mad at Sydney Sweeney because she's white, she's blonde, she's blue-eyed and she looks good,' said one TikTok user, capturing the divide in public sentiment. Sweeney has not commented publicly. She continues to dominate Hollywood with roles in Euphoria, The White Lotus, and the upcoming Christy, while also expanding her business ventures. Recent endorsements include Armani Beauty, Miu Miu, and a reported lingerie brand backed by Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez. Baskin-Robbins, one of her brand partners, has since disabled comments on TikTok videos featuring the actress amid the controversy.

Tom Holland has shared that he may take some time away from acting in 2027. In a recent interview with GQ, the Spider-Man and Avengers star spoke about the importance of setting boundaries and balancing his career with personal time. 'I've got a slightly busy year next year, and then I'll probably take a bit more time off in 2027. We'll see,' Holland said. While he didn't confirm a formal hiatus, his comments suggest a potential pause following his upcoming commitments. Holland is set to appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day in 2026, followed by Marvel's Avengers: Secret Wars, scheduled for May 7, 2027. Leanne Morgan lands Netflix sitcom ‘Leanne' after hit stand-up special and Chuck Lorre interest

Leanne Morgan, celebrated for her 2023 Netflix stand-up special I'm Every Woman, has now launched her own sitcom, Leanne, produced in collaboration with legendary comedy producer Chuck Lorre. The 16‑episode half‑hour series is inspired by her stand-up, exploring themes of ageing, family life, and Southern humour. In Leanne, Morgan plays Leanne Murphy, a woman dealing with the end of her 33‑year marriage after her husband, played by Ryan Stiles, leaves for a younger woman. The storyline follows Leanne through heartbreak, sibling support from her sister (Kristen Johnston), dealings with ageing parents (Celia Weston and Blake Clark), and parenting her children. A handsome FBI agent played by Tim Daly enters the narrative, helping her rediscover her confidence. Morgan drew from her own experiences as a mother of three in Knoxville, Tennessee, to develop her comedic voice. She began performing stand-up while her children were young and credits her material on marriage, menopause, and family life for resonating with viewers worldwide. Chuck Lorre reportedly approached Morgan after seeing her stand-up special and invited her to create the sitcom. He credited her unique perspective and storytelling as inspiration. Morgan recalled that the personal invitation from Lorre felt validating and reaffirmed her comedy path. Netflix has confirmed that I'm Every Woman is the most-watched stand-up special by a female comedian on the platform, with 11 million views reported by June 2025. Tracey Pakosta, Netflix's comedy VP, noted that Morgan's exploration of universal themes like love, loss and reinvention contributes to its global appeal. Leanne showcases Morgan's Southern charm and sharp wit in a scripted format while staying true to her pastoral roots and comedic sensibility. Fans can expect ongoing stand-up specials and a current tour titled Just Getting Started through October.
