WNBA Fans Not Happy About Sophie Cunningham's New Show
It's a new day so you know what that means... another athlete podcast.
On Wednesday, Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham announced her latest partnership with The Volume where she'll launch a new podcast alongside reality TV star West Wilson called "Show Me Something."
The Cowherd-backed venture is described as "a fast-talking, no-rules show covering sports, pop culture, and everything in between."
Fans were pretty mixed on the idea online.
"We're cooked as a society if 'Sophie Cunningham' is given a podcast," a user said. Quoting the Drake lyric: "Bench players talking like starters I hate it."
"i cant respect this," another replied.
"ITS ENOUGH PODCASTS," a fan commented.
"They giving anyone Podcasts nowadays she better not have no stinkers," another person warned.
"everybody got a f–in podcast and for what 😭" another user cried.
"Speaking of clout chasing."
"if i were a pro baller and people talked more about my being a bully/bodyguard than what I produced on the court I'd retire from the sport and try hockey instead," another fan shared.
"She really came to the Fever to grift her way into a post basketball career lmao," a WNBA fan laughed.
"So we not gonna put the podcast equipment down [🙄]"
Cunningham has seen her star explode since calling Gainbridge Fieldhouse home. After a notable six-year run with the Phoenix Mercury from 2019-2024, Sophie joined the Fever to give them exactly what they needed: energy, defense and a capable three-point shooter.
But joining up with Caitlin Clark has paid off in more than just on-court opportunities. Her new profile on the league's most-watched team has also landed her brand partnerships with Ring and Arby's — as well as a more than 500,000 jump in social media followers in a single night.
Cunningham's jersey also sold out on the WNBA store after she was ejected for defending Clark against the Sun last month. So far this season Sophie is posting averages of 7.5 points, 3.8 rebounds 1.0 steals on 40% from deep.WNBA Fans Not Happy About Sophie Cunningham's New Show first appeared on The Spun on Jul 30, 2025

Mikal Bridges agrees to 4-year, $150 million extension with New York Knicks
The New York Knicks forward Mikal Bridges has agreed to a four-year, $150 million extension, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Thursday. SNY initially reported that the 28-year-old was eligible for a maximum four-year, $156 million extension. But, per Charania, Bridges took a slight discount to help New York's roster-building efforts. The Knicks had a window from July 6 to June 30, 2026, before Bridges was set to enter free agency, to secure a new contract with him. Bridges initially found his way to New York across the East River when he landed in Brooklyn from Phoenix in exchange for Kevin Durant. He spent five seasons with the Suns before getting traded to the borough south of Manhattan. The former Villanova Wildcat averaged 26.1 points per game in 27 games for the Nets upon his arrival and 19.6 points per game after starting in all 82 games the following season. Bridges was traded to the Knicks last offseason for Bojan Bogdanović, five first-round draft picks, and a second-rounder. The move reunited Bridges with his former college teammates, Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson. In his first season in blue and orange, Bridges proved to be a dynamic role player for the Knicks, averaging 17.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. His defense also shined in the Knicks' playoff run before they eventually fell to the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference finals. Bridges averaged 15.6 points, 4.5 boards, 0.9 blocks and 1.7 steals per game in this year's postseason. Bridges' extension comes after the Knicks hired Mike Brown to replace Tom Thibodeau as their head coach. The team has also added reinforcements in free agency by signing Guerschon Yabusele and Jordan Clarkson.

6 highly-anticipated movies coming in August, including 'Weapons'
July was truly a delight for moviegoers. There were three major franchise blockbusters with Jurassic World Rebirth, Superman and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. We got Brad Pitt driving race cars in F1: The Movie, and a horror reboot/sequel with I Know What You Did Last Summer. MLB trade deadline: Rangers acquire pitcher Merrill Kelly from Diamondbacks, who continue sell-off
The Arizona Diamondbacks' sell-off continues with starting pitcher Merrill Kelly being traded to the Texas Rangers, ESPN's Jeff Passan reports. Kelly, who turns 37 on Oct. 14, provides another reliable arm to add to the Rangers' veteran starting rotation, joining Jacob deGrom, Patrick Corbin and Nathan Eovaldi. He's been the D-backs' most consistent starter this season, compiling a 3.22 ERA over 22 starts with 121 strikeouts in 128 2/3 innings. The Rangers' starting pitchers have the best ERA in MLB at 3.16, led by deGrom (10-3, 2.55 ERA) throwing like the ace who won NL Rookie of the Year and two Cy Young Awards with the New York Mets. Corbin (3.78 ERA) has experienced a career resurgence after struggling for the past five seasons with the Washington Nationals. And Eovaldi (9-3, 1.49 ERA) has been one of the best starters in baseball during the past six seasons. Texas (57-52) is a postseason contender, tied with the Seattle Mariners for second place in the AL West, five games behind the Houston Astros. The Rangers and Mariners are also tied for the AL's third wild-card playoff berth, 2.5 games ahead of the Cleveland Guardians and three ahead of the Kansas City Royals and Tampa Bay Rays. Kelly was a late bloomer as an MLB pitcher, an eighth-round pick by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2010 after being drafted in each of the previous two years by the Baltimore Orioles and Cleveland Guardians, respectively, but not signing. He played nine years in the minors before making his major-league debut with the D-backs in 2019. During his seven-year MLB career, Kelly has a 3.74 ERA and 62-50 record, averaging 8.2 strikeouts and 2.7 walks per nine innings. He's two seasons removed from his best year, when he registered a 3.29 ERA and 12-8 record in 30 starts, adding 187 strikeouts in 177 2/3 innings. Kelly is the fourth regular to be dealt away by Arizona leading up to the MLB trade deadline. First baseman Josh Naylor began the D-backs' trade season by going to the Seattle Mariners. That was followed by outfielder Randal Grichuk being traded to the Kansas City Royals and third baseman Eugenio Suárez also going to Seattle in a separate deal.
