Morocco Launches MAD 28 Billion 'Airports 2030' Project
Key projects include a new international airport in Casablanca, in application of the High Royal Guidelines, which is connected to the high-speed rail network, allowing travel from to Marrakech in 50 minutes and to Tangier in 30 minutes, according to the minister. The airport aims to serve long-haul flights and support Morocco's flagship air (RAM)'s fleet expansion from 50 to 100 aircraft by 2030.
Other airport expansions include Rabat-Salé (to 4 million passengers), Fez (5 million), and Sania Ramel (2 million). Overall capacity is set to grow from 34 million passengers in 2024 to 80 million by 2030, Kayouh said.
The plan also involves a new modern terminal at Mohammed V Airport (40M capacity), upgrades in World Cup 2030 host cities, namely Casablanca, Rabat Tangier and Marrakech, as well as enhancements in traveler experience—such as biometric gates, reduced wait times, and improved access—thanks to coordination with national authorities like the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN), the Gendarmerie Royale and the Customs Administration, the minister added.

Renault Celebrates Production of Morocco's First Fully Electric Quadricycle
Rabat – The Renault factory in Tangier celebrated on Friday the production of the 2,000th Mobilize DUO, the first fully electric four-wheeled vehicle made in Morocco. The car is part of a newer category of small electric vehicles designed for city driving. A communication system developed by engineers in Morocco has been integrated into the vehicle, which is mainly intended for export to European markets. It was designed and assembled entirely by Moroccan talent, with engineering and production teams receiving over 8,000 hours of training in new skills related to electric mobility. The launch event saw the participation of Morocco's Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, CEO of Mobilize Gianluca De Ficchy, and General Manager of Renault Group Morocco Mohamed Bachiri. Also present at the event was the President of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region Omar Moro, Tangier Med CEO Mehdi Tazi Riffi, and other local officials and business leaders. The Mobilize DUO, fully electric and designed for city transport, is being built at a new assembly line inside the Tangier factory, which can produce up to 17,000 units per year. The line was specifically designed for fully electric vehicles and uses more advanced technology to meet these requirements. This project also allowed for the inclusion of a new group of Moroccan suppliers that specialize in electric vehicle components, helping them grow and boosting the local auto industry. Speaking at the ceremony, Mezzour said the factory, 'a leader in carbon neutrality and operational excellence, shows our shared commitment to developing Morocco's ability to innovate and adapt.' 'We are proud to witness the production of the 2,000th Mobilize DUO, the first 100% electric car made at Renault Tangier,' the minister said. He also commended Renault's progress, especially its integration of new suppliers, saying it strengthens Morocco's role as a strategic hub for electric mobility. Gianluca De Ficchy, CEO of Mobilize, said that his company aims to remove the barriers to electric mobility by offering financing, charging, and transport solutions that are accessible to all. 'The DUO is a result of our efforts to create urban transport that is safer, smarter, and more sustainable,' he added. Meanwhile, Renault Morocco's head, Mohamed Bachiri, said that the DUO project reflects the group's ongoing trust in the Moroccan industrial platform. The project is part of the broader momentum behind the Made in Morocco label, he stressed.

Further talks are planned to ensure this proposal comes to fruition», said Chakib Alj, president of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises. Saudi investors expressed interest in the food industries, chemicals, mining, energy, renewable energy, and technology sectors. Hassan bin Mujeeb, Chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers, confirmed Saudi Arabia's investment intentions in Morocco. Two-way trade between the countries reached $2.9 billion in 2024, with Saudi exports to Morocco totaling $2.7 billion. Morocco and U.S. firm L3Harris sign defense deal to upgrade C-130 capabilities
Yesterday, Morocco's National Defense Administration formalized a strategic agreement with American company L3Harris Technologies. The partnership «reinforces our shared commitment to strengthening Morocco's C-130 capabilities and deepening collaboration between our nations' industries», said Aimee Cutrona, Chargé d'affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Rabat, in a post on X. She added that the agreement is «a milestone moment in the ongoing U.S.-Morocco partnership in defense and aerospace. Together, the U.S. and Morocco are making both of our countries safer, stronger, and more prosperous». L3Harris Technologies already equips the Royal Armed Forces' (FAR) F-16s with smart weapon systems, enabling pilots to double their aircraft's payload capacity. In recent months, the FAR has been exploring options to expand its fleet of C-130 Hercules aircraft, manufactured by U.S. defense giant Lockheed Martin. Moroccan pilots have even tested the C-390 Millennium, produced by Brazilian company Embraer.
