IGNOU's delayed study materials, poor communication leave students in dire straits
Candidates will have the option to cancel their application directly through the registration portal. Please note that cancellation requests should not be submitted via email or through iGRAM. Once an application is cancelled, it cannot be reinstated, and any eligible refund will be processed following the university's policies. Step 1: Visit the official website: ignou.samarth.edu.in/index.php/site/login.
Step 2: Enter your enrollment number and password.
Step 3: The dashboard of the candidate will open. It will have an option of re-registration.
Step 4: Select the link and select courses, and complete the payment.
Step 5: Download the application for future reference.
Meanwhile, India's number one open university (as per NIRF Rankings 2024) has seen an increase in overall registration from 6.73 lakh in 2018-19 to 7.53 lakh in academic session 2023-2024. In these six years, the varsity has added many programmes at all levels – certificate, diploma, Bachelor, Master and PhD.
Additionally, Uma Kanjilal has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), becoming the first woman to hold the post since the university's establishment in 1985. The announcement was made by IGNOU on Thursday, marking exactly one year since she took over as Acting Vice Chancellor on July 25, 2024.
With over 36 years of experience in the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system, Kanjilal has been associated with IGNOU in several key academic and administrative roles. Prior to her current role, she served as Pro Vice Chancellor from March 2021 to July 2024.

The Staff Selection Commission has released the final exam results of Combined Hindi Translators Examination 2024. Candidates who appeared in the exam can check and download their results from the official website at SSC has declared the final results of Combined Hindi Translators Exam at A total of 272 candidates have provisionally qualified for appointment to various posts in different Ministry/ Departments/ Offices. the SSC notice informed. It may be mentioned here that the result of Paper 1 was released on February 14, 2025, wherein a total of 2,146 candidates were shortlisted to take the Paper 2 exam conducted on March 29, 2025. Candidates who appeared in Paper 2 of the examination were asked to enter the option cum preference form from June 9 to June 14, 2025. What's next for qualified candidates Candidates who have been shortlisted in the final result will now go through the Document Verification and Appointment formalities which will be undertaken by the Allocated Department. The SSC stated that if a candidate does not receive any correspondence from the concerned allocated User Department within a period of six months from the declaration of final result, he/she must communicate immediately with the concerned User Department. Further it added that no correspondences regarding Document Verification/appointment formalities from the shortlisted candidates will be entertained under any circumstances. Prof Uma Kanjilal Appointed As First Woman Vice Chancellor Of IGNOU
Uma Kanjilal was previously the acting Vice Chancellor at IGNOU and had served as Pro Vice Chancellor from March 2021 to July 2024. Professor Uma Kanjilal has been named the first female Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), four decades after its inception, as per officials from the Ministry of Education. She was previously the acting Vice Chancellor at IGNOU and had served as Pro Vice Chancellor from March 2021 to July 2024. Prof. Kanjilal started her career as a research assistant at IIT Kanpur in 1984. After this, she worked as a cataloguer and professional assistant at Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA). At IGNOU, she worked her way up from lecturer to professor. She held many positions including university librarian-in-charge, director of School of Social Sciences, director of Centre for Online Education. A professor of Library and Information Science since 2003, Kanjilal's expertise lies in e-learning, ICT in libraries, digital libraries, and multimedia courseware development, reported PTI. She is currently the National Coordinator for SWAYAM and SWAYAM PRABHA, key digital education initiatives by the Ministry of Education. Kanjilal has held several leadership positions at the university, including Director of the Centre for Online Education (2019–2021), Director of the Inter-University Consortium for Technology Enabled Flexible Education (2016–2019), Director of the Advanced Centre for Informatics and Innovative Learning (2012–2013), Director of the School of Social Sciences (2007–2010), and University Librarian (2004–2006). 'With over 36 years of distinguished service in the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system, Kanjilal brings a wealth of academic leadership, digital innovation, and institutional knowledge to the helm of one of the world's largest open universities," an official the news agency.
