There's terror for the residents of Coronation Street in upcoming episodes when killer Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) breaks out of prison – and causes havoc at the school and factory.
Mick, who is in prison following his murder of PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith), is upset by news from his family. With Lou (Farrel Hegarty) in serious trouble, there's a risk that the family will fall apart. Mick knows he's got to do something and desperately enlists the help of his son, Brody (Ryan Mulvey).
He wants Brody to round up his sisters and the plan is that Mick will escape from prison and join them and the whole family will go on the run. Brody, who's recently found out that Mick isn't his biological father, is still keen to impress the man who raised him and he agrees to the plan.
Brody goes off to pick up the girls, who are staying with Sally (Sally Dynevor) and Tim (Joe Duttine), only to find that Joanie (Savanna Pennington) has gone to Weatherfield High for a taster day.
She's not having a great time as some of the other kids are having a go at her because of her infamous dad. She gets upset and the school staff call Sally and get her to come and pick her up.
Meanwhile Lou is being questioned by the police after Mick has broken out of prison. She denies all knowledge.
Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) is at the school for an interview, and he and Mrs Crawshaw (Carla Mendonça) are shocked when they're suddenly confronted by Mick, demanding to see his daughter. Mrs Crawshaw tells him that Joanie isn't there, and was picked up by Sally earlier.
Frustrated and angry, Mick locks the pair in the office.

Meanwhile, the kids are terrified by the presence of Mick, whose behaviour seems out of control.
They try to hide as best they can. Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) is shocked later to hear from Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) that his son, Sam (Jude Riordan), was left on his own in a corridor after his cousin Lily Platt (Brooke Malonie) refused to let him hide in the classroom where she was taking refuge.
There's short-lived relief as Mick heads off towards Coronation Street, with Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) in hot pursuit. More Trending
But with Mick ever more desperate to find his children and with an unaware Sally showing Joanie around the factory, the violence is far from over – and lives will be left in the balance.
Tim notices him marching into the building, and as a menacing heartbeat sound effect rings out, Mick watches Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) from afar.
She's terrified when he grabs her phone and smashes it on the floor, before grabbing her by the neck. Tim begs him to stop, just as Sally and Joanie reenter the factory.

'Hidden treasure' music biopic finally arrives on Amazon Prime Video

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video A stunning biopic, branded a 'hidden treasure' by impressed fans, has finally landed on Amazon Prime Video. Better Man hit the big screen last December, and focused on music icon Robbie Williams' rise to superstardom. However, in a surprise move, the Angels singer was portrayed by a CGI monkey while everyone else in the movie was human – a decision by director Michael Gracey that left baffled moviegoers around the world. Despite the confusion, many praised the movie, hailing it as 'one of the best biopics' ever made. The film has now arrived on streaming and is available to watch on Amazon Prime, for those who didn't manage to catch the cinema release. Better Man currently boasts a 90% Rotten Tomatoes score from the audience, compared to a critics ranking of 89%. Commending the flick, Maria L wrote: 'A movie that will have you crying, laughing, and dancing! This movie is a hidden treasure and should truly be seen by everyone!! One of the best movies of 2024.' Marianne E agreed: 'One of the best biopics I've seen in a long time, very touching, made me cry a lot.' 'BRILLIANT. A true masterpiece and like nothing you've ever seen,' AE J said. 'I am a fan of Williams but even a nondevotee would leave appreciating what an absolute marvel this film is, from the music, the epic dance numbers and the acting this biopic is a stunning exploration into the depths of self-loathing to redemption. Lovely.' Ker M added: 'It is rare to see a modern movie with such an incomprehensible degree of creativity embedded into every frame. 'While my faith in modern film is at an all-time low, works of genius like Better Man give me renewed vigor and hope. This is a MUST see. Will clearly become a cult classic in years to come, box office be darned.' With many questions over the monkey's involvement, Robbie previously shed light on why he was portrayed by a CGI animal in a chat with Metro while at the premiere. 'I didn't know that I'd have to explain it, but obviously [I do],' he told us. 'Because it's unusual, right? That's the thing. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'I'm on the spectrum, so things that are unusual to me, aren't that unusual – I don't pick up on those sorts of cues. I don't know where I am on the spectrum, by the way, I just know I am.' 'It shouldn't work but it actually works better than if it was me. I don't know why,' he added. 'It made complete sense to me as soon as [Gracey] pitched it to me'. 'I don't know if this film would be as talked about if it hadn't had the monkey in it. And it does, and it has. And it all makes sense when you see it.' Although it wasn't a box office smash in the US, Robbie previously shared his hopes that we could get a sequel very soon. More Trending In a chat with Australian DJ Sean Brown, the Rock DJ icon said in January: 'There is so much that didn't make the movie. 'Only because we couldn't fit it in – not because I was too embarrassed or ashamed to put it in… many stories. It would have had to be a five-hour film to fit everything in. 'And hopefully it does good and there is a Better Man 2.' Better Man is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video now. Got a story? Emmerdale reveals new co-owner of the cafe leaving Nicola stunned

Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) has been left taken aback after meeting her new co-owner of the café in Emmerdale. Ever since Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop) departed the village to go on a cruise, Nicola has been left running the café practically on her own. She gained a little bit of help a few days ago courtesy of Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches), who could see Nicola was struggling and wanted to assist. Lewis' shift at the café in this evening's episode featured a lot of residents arriving to try out the new menu. His bright personality and creative new ideas were already impressing Nicola, but she was also bothered about something. Because Brenda was still technically co-owner, Lewis' revamp of the menu and increase in sales meant she was reaping some of the benefits. With Brenda showing no sign of returning to the Dales, Nicola didn't think this was very fair, but couldn't get hold of her friend to sort things out. As his day at the café continued, Lewis was paid a visit by brother Ross Barton (Michael Parr). Lewis opened up to Ross about his business dreams and how he doesn't intend to stay in the village forever. This left Ross feeling deflated, as he admitted to Lewis that he likes having him around. More Trending It was perhaps this conversation that impacted Lewis' next decision. With help from Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw), Lewis later revealed that he had been on the phone to Brenda – who has now sold her shares in the café. Nicola and Jimmy King (Nick Miles) were intrigued, and then incredibly surprised to find out that Brenda sold her shares…to Lewis! Given Nicola and Lewis have been getting on relatively well so far, this seems like a good idea, but will their positive connection continue? Or will they clash? Emmerdale new café owner sealed after Brenda update - and it's a familiar face

Emmerdale's latest episode saw Nicola King learn some shocking news about Brenda Walker and the café, with a new owner identified following an exit earlier this year There was some sad news about Brenda Walker for residents on Emmerdale on Monday. Amid the character leaving for a cruise months ago on the ITV soap, a decision was made about her beloved village café. The ITV soap confirmed a permanent exit for the character earlier this year, with actress Lesley Dunlop leaving the role. ‌ Brenda went on a three-month cruise with her stepdaughter Cathy Hope, with it thought it was just a trip away. But fans know she isn't returning, with it yet to be explained what leads to her not coming back, while Cathy will be back later in the year. ‌ In the meantime, Nicola King has been running the café and when new staff member Lewis Barton brought some success to the place with new menus and by encouraging people to spend a little, Nicola was seen frustrated at Brenda getting all the rewards. So on Monday night Nicola wanted an update on when Brenda would be back to share the load. She tried and failed to get in contact with her over the phone, including by message. She even tried to call Cathy but failed to get through to her. ‌ As she vented to husband Jimmy King about Brenda not being around yet getting all the perks of the café's newfound success, Cathy's dad Bob Hope arrived with some news. He and Lewis walked in together, and it emerged Lewis had been on the phone to Brenda. Nicola was confused by this but was more interested in speaking with Brenda. She wanted to know when she might be back and wanted to make contact, but Lewis said there was no need. It's then that it became clear in a sad update that Brenda was selling up, and was ditching the café. It wasn't mentioned that this would also lead to her not coming back, so perhaps the character is undecided. ‌ But what she did say to Bob and Lewis offscreen was that she was going to sell the café to a new owner, and no longer wanted to run the place. Nicola was shocked, but also she seemed interested in who the buyer could be. She was possibly hoping she might have a chance to fully own the place only for her to be left reeling when she found out who Brenda had decided to sell to. It was none other than Lewis, played by Bradley Riches, who announced he was the chosen person to buy the café. While he didn't say he was definitely buying it from her, he did heavily hint this would be the case. Nicola couldn't believe it when Lewis declared that after speaking to Brenda, her absence would no longer be an issue and that she was selling to him, with him planning to take over the ownership after his recent success - but will Nicola accept this change? Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
