This 'Parks and Rec 'character is Adam Scott's pick to get a spinoff: 'I'd like to see how that worked out'

Scott says he'd love to see if "there were any scandals" with this fan-favorite character, "or if he was able to keep his powder dry." Everyone else is doing it, so why can't Parks and Recreation have a reboot? While various members of the Parks cast and crew have expressed their interest in a reboot, revival, or some kind of return to the beloved fictional town of Pawnee, Ind., no formal plans have yet materialized. But the powers that be likely haven't heard star Adam Scott's bright idea. Scott sits down with Entertainment Weekly Editorial Director Gerrad Hall on this week's episode of EW's Awardist podcast to discuss his freshly Emmy-nominated performance in the Apple TV+ thriller series Severance. Noting that The Office, the mockumentary series that informally spawned Parks, is getting its own spinoff called The Paper, Hall asks Scott, "Of the Parks and Rec characters, is there one specifically you would love to catch up with now, see where they're working, find out what they're doing?" Scott responds without hesitation, and his pick might surprise loyal Parks fans. "Probably Jerry [Jim O'Heir]," Scott replies. "I think because when we left the show, he was mayor, still, of Pawnee. I'd like to see how that worked out, if there were any scandals or if he was able to keep his powder dry and run the town in the way we know it should be run." Indeed, when Parks and Rec wrapped up its seventh and final season in 2015, viewers didn't have to guess where all their favorite characters would end up. The series informed them — Six Feet Under style, but without all the doom and gloom — by flashing into the future and offering closure for each beloved alum of the Pawnee Parks Department. O'Heir's Garry Gergich, mean-spiritedly referred to as "Jerry" throughout most of the series, is Parks' perpetual underdog — overlooked, undervalued, and even mocked for his enduringly sunny outlook. Which is what makes the great fortune bestowed upon him by the Parks finale so sweet. The character is elected mayor of Pawnee in a write-in campaign coup, a position he happily holds until his 100th birthday. "I don't know how my life could get any better than this," he tells Amy Poehler's Leslie Knope in one of their final scenes together. "I feel like Jerry would've done a terrific job," Scott continues, and adds one more idea to boot. "I think also Tom would be a good one to check in with, find out what's going on with Tom, with [Aziz Ansari's] character," he says. Similarly to Garry/Jerry, Ansari's Tom Haverford finds a happy ending in the Parks finale, though one that doesn't come without its hitches, meaning it could make for great spinoff fodder. , On the finale episode "One Last Ride," Tom continues to operate his "classy, authentic" restaurant, Tom's Bistro, which has become the most successful chophouse in Pawnee. However, an economic recession throws open a money pit that pulls Tom's Bistro. But with the help of new wife Lucy (Natalie Morales), Tom writes a bestselling book, which he naturally parlays into a lucrative motivational speaking gig. Tom and Garry/Jerry are prime candidates for a Parks spinoff, and in 2022, one of the series' most key players signaled her openness for more. Poehler, who also produced the series, said she was "always standing by" for a Parks reboot. "Anytime anybody gives me the word, and I'm down." ‘The Valley' Reunion Trailer: Jax Taylor Is Ready to ‘Go to War' With Brittany Cartwright

Buckle your seatbelts, because is ready for one last battle before saying farewell to The Valley season 2. On Tuesday, July 22, Bravo released a sneak peek at the show's highly anticipated reunion special. While may be a nervous wreck, Jax jokes that he's 'ready to go to war.' 'Believe it or not,' he says in the preview, 'I know some people think I'm not human, and I'm the devil.' Everything to Know About 'The Valley' Season 2: Brittany and Jax's Divorce and More At one point in the three-part reunion, viewers will take a trip down memory lane and watch footage of Jax and Brittany madly in love at a Vanderpump Rules reunion show six years ago. At the time, Jax said he's not going to sign a prenup "because I'm going to be with her forever.' Fast-forward to today, when Brittany is still dropping serious allegations about her ex. 'This man put me down, body shamed me,' she says. 'I would not touch that dirty dick with a 10-inch pole.' Jax replies, 'That's not what you said four months ago.' Jax and Brittany are not the only former — or current — couple to be put in the hot seat, as host Andy Cohen asks all the important questions after a dramatic second season. While Jesse Lally and ex Michelle Saniei appeared to be in a better place at the time of the finale, both parties are still harboring some anger toward the other. 'A married woman with a child asking a single guy for advice about her husband?' Jesse asks, alluding to Michelle's relationship with boyfriend Aaron Nosler. 'That's wildly inappropriate." Michele replies, 'Wildly inappropriate? You told our client you wanted to eat her out.' Fortunately, Jasmine Goode is here to lighten things up when she suggests, 'Get that sale.' The Valley's three-part reunion will kick off Tuesday, July 29, when Kristen Doute and Nia Sanchez — who were both eight months pregnant at the time of filming — relive their fertility journeys. Later on in the special, Nia and Danny Booko face off against Jason and Janet Caperna after a disastrous Hawaii trip. 'Vanderpump Rules' Stars Who Left the Series: Where Are They Now? It all goes down in the wake of a casting shakeup. On Wednesday, July 16, Us Weekly exclusively confirmed that Jax would be taking a step back from the spotlight following The Valley season 2. 'After an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I'll be stepping away from the next season of The Valley,' Jax said in a statement. 'Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting. Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself — especially for our son, Cruz.' The Valley airs on Bravo Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET. Stream old episodes anytime on Peacock. Solve the daily Crossword

Brittany Cartwright Speaks Out After Jax Taylor Leaves ‘The Valley' Ahead of Season 3

Brittany Cartwright is speaking out after the news that her estranged husband, Jax Taylor, will not be returning to The Valley for season 3. 'I found out the night before and I was like, 'That was a great decision by everyone,'' Brittany, 36, said on the Tuesday, July 22, episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. Brittany's Valley costar Zack Wickham also weighed in, telling host Andy Cohen, 'I want him to get better at the end of the day. I hope he does put in the work this time. Don't fake it. Actually do the work.' Us Weekly broke the news on Wednesday, July 16, that Jax was stepping away from the Bravo show for the upcoming third season. Jax Taylor Says He and Brittany Cartwright Are 'Not Communicating Right Now' During Separation 'After an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I'll be stepping away from the next season of The Valley,' the 46-year-old said in a statement. 'Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health and coparenting. Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself — especially for our son, Cruz.' Jax and Brittany share their son Cruz, 4, who has made rare appearances on The Valley since the show premiered in March 2024. The former couple, who wed in 2019, initially appeared on Vanderpump Rules before departing from the show in 2020. Fans have continued to watch the ups and downs in Jax and Brittany's relationship unfold as new episodes of The Valley's second season continue to air. Brittany filed for divorce from Jax in August 2024 after five years of marriage. She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. Viewers watched as Jax checked himself into a rehab facility for his mental health struggles during The Valley season 2. The Bravo star has also admitted to having a cocaine addiction. Jax has since been candid about his sobriety journey, telling Andy Cohen during a Watch What Happens Live appearance last month that he undergoes regular drug tests. 'Vanderpump Rules' Stars Who Left the Series: Where Are They Now? 'I have my therapist do it when I go into therapy, it was kind of the deal,' Jax said at the time. 'I don't have to do that legally, but … you know what, I want to be held accountable. Brittany has drug tests at the house, you can drug test me any time you want.' He also explained that drugs aren't his 'issue' at the moment. 'I've got a lot of other issues that I've got to deal with,' Jax said. 'My ego, my anger, my control, my manipulation, all these things.' Solve the daily Crossword
