Flash floods in Romania kill at least 3 people and force hundreds of evacuations
BUCHAREST, Romania — Torrential rainstorms hit Romania overnight and into Monday, triggering flash floods in the country's northeast and killing at least three people, officials said.
Hundreds were forced to leave their homes as Romania's rescue services deployed in the hard-hit counties of Neamt and Suceava. Helicopters and firefighters rescued residents, some of whom were trapped in their homes by floodwaters. Authorities said that 890 people were evacuated from Neamt.
First responders found a 66-year-old man dead at the bottom of a stream in the town of Neagra, according to the Department for Emergency Situations. Two women who had been reported missing were also later found dead.
Authorities also released images showing raging muddy floodwaters strewn with battered vehicles and other debris, as well as damaged homes.

The tsunami advisory last Tuesday was eventually cancelled, but B.C.'s emergency management minister says the incident was a reminder to always be prepared for a big quake closer to home.

Saskatoon fire crews battle grass fire
Saskatoon firefighters responded to a grass fire along the rail line from Wess Road to Highway 16 Eastbound. The fire was reported at around 5:18 p.m., on Friday, according to the Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD). Firefighters rushed to the area, deploying two engines, two brush trucks, and two water tankers to combat the blaze, which spanned a 5 km area. The SFD says crews used handlines and brush trucks to bring the fire under control. Clavet Fire assisted Saskatoon fire with the incident outside of city limits. The fire was completely extinguished without any injuries to civilians or firefighters.
