Anselmi, 39, was only appointed in January, but Portuguese outlet CMTV have reported that he is now set to be dismissed.
The Argentine manager is said to already be aware he will be sacked, despite his current deal running until 2027.
Porto's efforts in the US at the Club World Cup saw them draw Egyptian side Al-Ahly and Brazilian outfit Palmeiras, while they were beaten 2-1 by Lionel Messi's Inter Miami side.
Porto also struggled to keep pace with their rivals in the Liga Portugal this season, finishing third and some 11 points off champions Sporting.

But it was their dismal efforts in the Club World Cup that appear to have tipped things over the edge.
According to Record, Porto's players and staff - including club president Andre Villas Boas - were confronted by a group of around 50 angry fans as the team bus arrived at the airport back in Portugal.
Another report from A Bola, claims that no final decision has been made on Anselmi's future, but a meeting is in place to discuss his role going forward.
They claim that the former Cruz Azul boss will refuse to waive any of the remaining money he is owed for an early termination of his deal.

The decision would cost Porto around £6million, combining the £2.6m they paid to Cruz Azul to bring Anselmi in and another £3.4m for the remaining time left on his contract.
Anselmi has taken charge of 21 games in total as Porto boss, winning 10, drawing six and losing five times.
As well as crashing out of the Club World Cup in the group stages and finishing third in the league, Anselmi's side also exited the Europa League in the play-off round ahead of the last 16.
The Portuguese giants were beaten 4-3 on aggregate by Roma.

Harry Kane highlights Bayern key to upsetting PSG at Club World Cup

Harry Kane maintains Bayern Munich will use the 'feeling' from defeating Paris Saint-Germain in last year's Champions League to come out on top in the Club World Cup quarter-finals. Kane struck a double in the 4-2 win over Flamengo to set up a last eight clash with the European champions. And 'FC Hollywood' came out on top in the group phase of last season's Champions League, with Kim Min Jae scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win. And now Kane is determined to come out on top, emphasising how Vincent Kompany's side believe they can beat anybody at their best. "It's going to be another tough game," Kane told DAZN, who will show every match of the tournament live. "PSG have had an amazing season. We played them earlier in the year and we came out on top. 'We have to try and use that energy, that feeling, in this game. We know it will be difficult. "But look, we feel like we can beat anyone when we're at our level. We've shown it in the tournament so far. 'It's going to be another tough game. We're going to have to recover well and get ready for it." Kane also paid credited the Brazilians for their resilience in the last 16 clash, but underlined Bayern's composure to finish the job. 'It was a really tough game,' Kane admitted. 'Tough opponent and difficult conditions. I thought we played really well for large spells of the game. 'But every time we went two goals up, they scored. The last goal eased the nerves a bit and we were able to control the game.'

Ally McCoist slams Club World Cup as Rangers legend admits ‘I haven't watched it, I didn't have any interest'

And it's fair to say Fifa's glitzy new-look tournament has more than divided opinion. Although the tournament has been around for some time, this is the first time it's taken place in it's current format with 32 teams taking part across a month-long competition. Bayern Munich, Chelsea, PSG, Palmeiras and Real Madrid are among the teams still standing with the round of 16 almost complete. While there's been plenty of great football on show, the competition has been heavily criticised. Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has branded it 'the worst idea ever' in relation to the strain being put on players. The Premier League winner highlighted concerns over the fact players participating would get 'no real recovery' with the Club World Cup taking place between the end of last season and the start of the next one. Those sentiments have been echoed across the board. The weather has also proved a problem, with several games heavily delayed. On Saturday night, Chelsea beat Benfica 4-1 after extra time in in Charlotte, North Carolina. But the last 16 clash took more than FOUR HOURS to complete after a two-hour weather delay. Ally McCoist confesses to 'horrendous' epic fail ahead of final day of Rangers legend's charity bike ride Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca was fuming about the lengthy delay and has blasted: "I think it's a joke, to be honest. "It's not football, it's completely something new. I struggle to understand. "I can understand if it's security reasons but if you suspend seven or eight games then it's probably not the right place to do the competition. "It's not normal to suspend the game. In a World Cup, how many games are suspended? Zero probably. In Europe how many games get suspended? Zero." Someone else who isn't a fan of the competition is Ally McCoist. The Rangers legend was back on talkSPORT Breakfast duties today after a bit of time away - time away that included a gruelling charity cycle across Ireland. Those other endeavours meant McCoist didn't have much time to sit in front of the telly to watch the football - but he's admitted he didn't really have any interest in doing so anyway. Responding to Klopp's brutal comments, McCoist said: "I'm not sure I'd go that far but he's certainly against it. "I'll be brutally honest, I haven't watched it. "I know I've been busy, away cycling and all that stuff. "I'll be honest with you, my boys are watching it, particularity the younger one and I'll watch it now. "I watched the highlights of the Chelsea game, I watched Harry Kane's goals last night. "I'm probably a little bit embarrassed to say, now it's got to the quarter finals, last 16, I will take an interest but I didn't have any interest, seemingly about a million empty seats of people agreed with me." Asked if his new-found interest in the Club World Cup would see him getting up at 2am to watch Man City's clash with Al Hilal tonight, McCoist said: "No. I'll take an interest in the result in that one. "There's been a lot of things. The weather, the times of the kick-offs, I don't care what anybody says, it does affect your interest."
