Ministry of Justice concludes real estate valuation specialised course

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has wrapped up a course on real estate valuation and appraisal.
The first-of-its-kind for real estate stakeholders and clients, the two-week specialized training — organised by MoJ's Centre for Legal and Judicial Studies — featured theoretical presentations and practical training on professional methods and tools.
The participants have been provided with the needed knowledge and skills in accordance with best practices and applicable international valuation standards such as RICS and IVS.
Assistant Undersecretary for Real Estate Registration Department Amer Saeed Al Ghafri gave the participants certificates of completion. He said the training aligns with the MoJ's new vision of the real estate registration and documentation sector's engagement with the public.
Meanwhile, Director of the Centre for Legal and Judicial Studies Dr. Abdullah Hamad Al Khalidi said the advanced course was designed to keep pace with the Centre's efforts to prepare and qualify legal personnel capable of serving the public efficiently and competently.
The event gave a holistic understanding of the fundamentals, methods and applicable legal and regulatory procedures for property valuation, making it ideal for all real estate market enthusiasts. The five common methods include comparison, cost, income, discounted cash flow.
The course also offered a detailed property inspection report, which includes all relevant valuation documents, such as lease contracts, engineering drawings, a site map, other contracts, and photographs of the property.
It also covered the factors affecting real estate valuation and the importance of market analysis, as well as local and international standards and legislation related to real estate valuation.

Real Estate transactions in Qatar surge 29.8% in Q2
QNA Doha The real estate sector recorded robust performance in the second quarter of 2025, with the total value of transactions reaching approximately QR8.9 billion, a spike of 29.8 percent compared to the same period in 2024. According to the Real Estate Development Agency (Aqarat) in data published in the inaugural issue of its Real Estate Bulletin on Tuesday, registered transactions in the second quarter of 2025 recorded a significant increase, reaching 1,915 across various categories, a rise of 44 percent compared to the corresponding quarter of 2024. This marks the sector's strongest quarterly performance since the third quarter of 2020. Doha Municipality accounted for the largest share, with a total value of QR4.8 billion, followed by Al Rayyan Municipality at QR1.9 billion. Residential transactions represented 44 percent of the total number of real estate deals during the period. The Pearl topped the list of most sought-after areas, recording 266 transactions, followed by Lusail with 125 transactions, supported by their strategic locations, the quality of developments, and their growing appeal among investors and residents alike. Doha registered the highest share of units sold at 39.2 percent, followed by Al Rayyan at 18.2 percent and Al Daayen at 17.2 percent. In a related context, the bulletin noted that the rental market was also buoyed by this notable activity, with 58,246 lease contracts registered in the first half of 2025, the highest level for the first half in the past six years. This represents an increase of around 26 percent compared to the same period in 2024, when 46,073 contracts were recorded. Al Wakrah Municipality witnessed the strongest demand for rental contracts, particularly in areas such as Al Wukair, Al Meshaf, and Al Thumama, which collectively recorded 5,337 contracts. These areas are among tenants' preferred choices due to the availability of reasonably priced housing. The bulletin underlined that second-quarter data affirm the strong trajectory of the real estate sector in the country, driven by a marked increase in transaction volumes and the renewed momentum in lease registrations, especially in mid-income and high-demand areas. It noted that established investment hubs such as The Pearl and Lusail continue to attract investors, while emerging areas such as Al Wakrah are solidifying their role as key pillars for expanding the market base and enhancing its diversity. The sector is expected to continue benefiting from the accelerating pace of digital transformation, strengthened regulatory transparency, and strategic investment in infrastructure in alignment with the Qatar National Vision 2030. Barring any major external disruptions, these strategic pillars position the market to achieve sustainable growth, broaden investment participation, and reinforce Qatar's stature as a leading destination for real estate investment in the region.

MoCI shuts down car firm for 30 days for violating Consumer Protection Law
QNA Doha The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has issued an administrative decision to shut down Al Jaidah Automotive Company for 30 days due to failure to provide spare parts and delays in after-sales services, in violation of Article 16 of Law No. 8 of 2008 on Consumer Protection. In a statement on Sunday, the ministry said that Administrative Decision No. 18/2025 was issued after 29 repeated violations of the same nature were recorded against the company. Despite multiple prior warnings, the company failed to take the necessary corrective actions, prompting the ministry to implement the closure. The ministry emphasised that this decision is part of its ongoing regulatory efforts to safeguard consumer rights and enforce compliance with laws and regulations, particularly those related to after-sales service and the provision of essential spare parts to ensure product safety and quality. The ministry affirmed that it will continue to conduct inspection and oversight campaigns and take legal measures against any violations of the Consumer Protection Law, in order to uphold a fair commercial environment that protects the rights of all parties. It also urged all citizens and residents to report any violations by contacting the call center at 16001 or through the ministry's social media platforms.

MoM announces ‘Best Date Basket' winners at 10th Local Dates Festival
QNA Doha The Ministry of Municipality (MoM), in collaboration with Souq Waqif Management, has announced the winners of the highly anticipated 'Best Date Basket' competition, a highlight of the 10th Local Dates Festival. This annual event, which continues to draw strong participation from Qatari farms, will run until August 7. In the competitive 'Khalas' dates category, first place was awarded to the farm of Abdulhadi Suleiman Haidar, whose quality and presentation earned top honours. The farm of the heirs of Khalil Mansour Al Hajri secured second place, while third place went to the heirs of Abdulhamid Al Ansari. Meanwhile, the 'Shishi' dates category saw Ali Ibrahim Al Malki's farm taking first place, followed by Yousef Ahmed Al Taher's farm in second, and the farm of Sheikh Nasser bin Jassim Al-Thani in third. Since the festival's opening, total sales of dates have exceeded an impressive 115,300 kilograms. This includes 49,045 kilograms of Khalas dates, 24,218 kilograms of Shishi dates, 22,859 kilograms of Khunaizi dates, 10,912 kilograms of Barhi dates, and 8,232 kilograms of other assorted varieties. Additionally, around 1,423 kilograms of fruit have been successfully marketed, reflecting the growing demand for local produce. Now in its 10th edition, the Local Date Festival has attracted approximately 58,400 visitors, demonstrating the strong public interest in locally grown dates and agricultural products. Held in the eastern square of Souq Waqif, the festival welcomes visitors daily, operating from 4 pm to 9 pm on weekdays and extending until 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. As one of Qatar's premier summer events, the Local Date Festival plays a vital role in supporting the agricultural sector.
