When Dharmendra booked 100 rooms for Hema Malini ahead of Esha Deol's birth to protect his wife and their unborn child

Bollywood has seen many legendary romances but few have left a lasting impression quite like the story of Dharmendra and Hema Malini. Their relationship, which blossomed amidst controversy and societal judgments has stood the test of time as a true testament to enduring love.

And within that journey lies a lesser-known but deeply touching chapter, one that showcases the extraordinary lengths Dharmendra went to for the woman he adored.
In 1981, as the couple prepared to welcome their first child together, Dharmendra made a gesture that reflected both his deep affection and protective instincts. At the time, the veteran actor and Hema were navigating not only a new phase of their relationship but also public scrutiny as Dharmendra was already married to his first wife, Prakash Kaur.
Despite all odds, the two tied the knot in 1980.
Dharmendra booked 100 rooms ahead of Esha Deol's birth
As Hema neared the end of her pregnancy, Dharmendra took the unprecedented step of booking an entire nursing home to ensure complete privacy and comfort for her. This revelation came years later through Hema Malini's close friend, Neetu Kohli during her appearance on the show 'Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai.' As reported by India Today, Neetu shared that Dharmendra discreetly arranged for all 100 rooms of the nursing home to be reserved ahead of Esha Deol's birth.
'No one even knew that Hema was expecting,' Neetu recalled. 'Dharam ji quietly booked all the rooms at the hospital just to make sure she had complete peace and privacy. It was his way of protecting his wife and their unborn child.'
This act wasn't just about luxury or excess but it was about love, care and an intense desire to shield his family from the media frenzy and constant public attention. Dharmendra's silent, behind-the-scenes gesture reflected a man who valued his family above everyone else, choosing personal sacrifice over public validation.

Even decades later, this moment serves as a powerful reminder of the kind of love that doesn't seek the spotlight but leaves an unforgettable legacy. In a world that often forgets the quiet, emotional gestures, Dharmendra's decision to secure an entire hospital for Hema Malini is a shining reflection of a love that truly knew no limits.

Saba Pataudi Beams With Pride For Ibrahim Ali Khan Ahead Of Sarzameen: 'You're A Star'

As Ibrahim prepares for his second film after Nadaaniyan, Prithviraj Sukumaran stepped up to support his co-star. In conversation with India Today, the Aiyya star addressed the criticism Ibrahim has been facing since his debut film. 'Ibrahim will be wonderful in this film, but that won't end the criticism," Prithviraj said, adding, 'If Shah Rukh Khan sir can still be criticised, why can't Ibrahim Ali Khan be criticised? From where I come from, Mohanlal sir and Mammootty sir are still criticised. That shows us that criticism will never end." He emphasised the importance of embracing the journey rather than striving for perfection or public approval. He said, 'You have to keep trying. I've realised that it never gets easier. You might think, 'That one blockbuster,' and it gets easier? No, it doesn't. It never gets easier. The idea is to enjoy the grind." Prithviraj also praised Ibrahim's dedication and preparedness. 'I think Ibrahim has put in a lot of work for this film. He's really worked hard. And as people already know, the camera loves him. He is a very good-looking boy," he remarked. Sarzameen stars Ibrahim Ali Khan, alongside Kajol and Prithviraj. The film releases on July 25, 2025, on JioHotstar.

Prithviraj says his first sense of belonging in the world is being Indian, not from Kerala

With 'Sarzameen', Prithviraj Sukumaran steps into the heart of a nation torn between ideals, identity, and unwavering love for one's homeland. The upcoming film, which explores themes of national duty, personal sacrifice, and moral conflict, features the popular actor as an officer on duty, one as vulnerable as he is fierce. At a time when patriotism is constantly being redefined and debated, India Today exclusively asked Prithviraj what it means to him. 'I only have one meaning for it. I don't have too many meanings for it,' he said, adding, 'When I say I'm patriotic, I mean that I absolutely love my country and I'm very proud of the fact that I'm an Indian.'advertisementThe actor exclaims, 'Wherever you go in the world, wherever I am in [any part of] the world, whatever I'm doing, my first sense of belonging is the fact that I'm from India. It's not the fact that I'm from Kerala, it's not the fact that I speak Malayalam, or that you speak Hindi, or are from Maharashtra. If tomorrow you're in some part of the world and people ask you where you're from, I'm not going to say I'm from Trivandrum. I'm going to say I'm from India. So that sense of belonging, and the pride in that sense of belonging, is what I think is patriotism for me. I'm deeply patriotic that way.' 'Sarzameen' is set to premiere on JioHotstar on July 25, 2025. The film also stars Kajol and Ibrahim Ali Khan in pivotal roles. - EndsYou May Also Like

Prithviraj Sukumaran Backs Ibrahim Ali Khan Amid Trolling For Nadaniyaan: 'Even SRK Faces Criticism'

Prithviraj Sukumaran defends Sarzameen co-actor Ibrahim Ali Khan from Nadaaniyan criticism, saying even legends like Shah Rukh Khan face trolls. Prithviraj Sukumaran is gearing up for the release of his next film Sarzameen, which also features Kajol and Ibrahim Ali Khan in pivotal roles. While the movie marks a significant milestone in the young star's career, it also arrives on the heels of Ibrahim's much-talked-about OTT debut Nadaaniyan, which received mixed to negative reviews from both critics and audiences earlier this year. Now, as Ibrahim prepares for his second outing, Prithviraj has come to his co-star's defense. In a candid chat with India Today, the actor addressed the criticism that Ibrahim has been facing since Nadaaniyan. 'See, Ibrahim will be wonderful in this film, but that's not going to put an end to anything," Prithviraj said. 'Hello, if Shah Rukh Khan sir can still be criticised, why can't Ibrahim Ali Khan be criticised? Come on. From where I come from, Mohanlal sir and Mammootty sir are still criticised. There's nothing bigger than that for us to understand that that's never going to end." He added that the key lies in embracing the journey rather than chasing perfection or public approval. 'You have to just keep trying. I've totally realised that it never gets easier. You think, 'Oh, that one blockbuster,' and then it gets easier? No. It does not. It never gets easier. The idea is that you start really enjoying the grind." Prithviraj also had glowing praise for the young actor's dedication and preparedness. 'I really think Ibrahim has put in a lot of work for this film. It's really a lot of work from him. And as people already know, the camera really loves him. He is a very, very good-looking boy," he remarked. A few days prior, Kajol too had voiced her support for Ibrahim and other star kids who often face relentless trolling on social media. In an interview with PTI, she said, 'Today, it's almost like a do-or-die situation for them (star kids), and for this, they're very well prepared. I have to give them that. But we can be a little kinder." Directed by Kazoye Irani, Sarzameen is slated to release on July 25, 2025, and will premiere on JioHotstar. This marks Ibrahim's second appearance on OTT, and all eyes will be on how the young actor fares in this ambitious project, especially after the critical reception of his debut.
