To stoke that anticipation even more, a badass new poster was revealed during San Diego Comic-Con giving us our best look yet at the epic team-up between Tanjiro Kamado and Giyu Tomioka as they prepare to take on Upper Rank Three demon, Akaza.
If you've been following the journey since the Infinity Train arc, you already know why this moment is huge. Akaza didn't just make a memorable first impression, he carved his place in the series as one of the most formidable and emotionally charged villains after his brutal clash with Kyojuro Rengoku.
That battle ended in heartbreak, with Rengoku's death hitting Tanjiro hard. It's personal now. And Tanjiro's long-awaited rematch with Akaza promises to be one of the most emotional and intense fights in the series.
But Tanjiro won't be alone this time.
Giyu, the stoic Water Hashira who first spared Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado back when their story began, is finally stepping into the ring alongside him. This is the first time the two will truly fight side-by-side, not as protector and fledgling swordsman, but as equals.
Giyu has always been pivotal to Tanjiro's journey. After discovering Nezuko's unique bond with her brother, he made the call to send them to Urokodaki, setting the whole story in motion. While their paths have crossed a few times since, Tanjiro was never quite strong enough to keep pace with him. Back then, Giyu had to carry the weight. But things have changed.
Tanjiro's growth since the Infinity Train and through the Hashira Training Arc has been nothing short of phenomenal. His skills, especially with Sun Breathing, have finally caught up to his heart. Giyu, once emotionally burdened, has been pushed forward by Tanjiro's relentless optimism and strength. Now, they're ready to face Akaza.

Silent Hill F Was Going To Be Set In The Real Japanese Location, But Mount Fuji Wouldn't Move
While deciding on a location for Silent Hill f, the production team hit a snag when they tried to use the real 'Silent Hill' as the setting—Mount Fuji killed the tone. As revealed in March 2025, Silent Hill f is all about atmosphere. The development team leaned into the idea of 'finding the beauty in terror' as the guiding vision for the game's grotesque imagery. It was also confirmed that this instalment would mark a first for the franchise: it would be set in Japan, not the fictional American town of Silent Hill. According to a new Famitsu interview with the developers (as reported by VGC), lead writer Ryukishi07 said the team initially considered Japan's Shizuoka Prefecture as the setting for Silent Hill f. In the (Google Translated) Famitsu interview, the development team explains that finding the right location was key in developing the heavy atmosphere associated with the Silent Hill franchise. Ryukishi07 explains that using real-life settings as the basis for the title would have a heavier impact on players, so the team visited many locations in Japan to find the perfect fit. Ryukisho07 says, 'I used real locations as the basis for the image. In fact, since it's [literally] Silent Hill, we even visited Shizuoka Prefecture as a potential location (laughs).' Shizuoka can almost literally translate to 'quiet' or 'silent,' when put into English, so the irony wasn't lost on Ryukishi07. There was only one problem for the team, though: Mount Fuji's extreme presence killed the mood. Ryukishi07 says, 'However, when we actually went there, we felt that the presence of Mount Fuji as seen from Shizuoka was too overbearing and it didn't seem suitable for a Silent Hill setting.' The development team rejected a location in Japan due to Mount Fuji's looming presence draining the atmosphere of the setting, so they determined it would not be good enough for the horror delivered by the franchise. As revealed in March, the setting used in Silent Hill f is based on the small town of Kanayama, in the city of Gero in Gifu prefecture. The fictional twin is known in-game as Ebisugoka, a long way from the previous US location of Silent Hill. ‘M3GAN 2.0' Will Not Slay in Japan
The hits just keep coming for M3GAN 2.0, as Universal is opting to not release it in Japan. Originally, the action-horror sequel was set to come out in the territory on October 10. Now, the movie's Japanese Twitter account announced in a (translated) post the studio 'decided to cancel the theatrical release of [the film]. A brand-new Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase has arrived and it gave us a glimpse at the future of Switch and Switch 2 from Nintendo's publishing partners. From Octopath Traveler 0 to Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection to Madden and EA Sports FC, there were a lot of games from different genres on display. To ensure you don't miss a thing, we've gathered all the biggest announcements from today's direct below, and we'd love to know what game you are most excited for and what game you wish would have shown up! Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Gameplay Trailer Showcases More of How It Connects to Tears of the Kingdom While we didn't get a release date beyond Winter, we were treated to a brand-new gameplay trailer of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, and it showed a bit more about how it will be a canonical story that connects to Tears of the Kingdom. This new game will feature such characters as Princess Zelda, King Rauru, and more. Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection Announced for 2026 Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection was the first game to kick off this direct and it looks to cast you as a rider of a Rathalos in a world where the "environmental calamity" known as the Encroachment is threatening everything and causing two kingdoms to start a war. This adventure follows an adventurer named Elliot who has set off from the Kingdom of Huther to investigate a mysterious set of ruins that has been found in the wilds. What sets this game apart from Octopath Traveler is it is more of an action RPG and you'll be controlling both Elliot and his fairy companion, Faie. Elliot will be able to wield seven different weapon types and Faie will attack enemies on her own and can be controlled by the player or a friend in co-op. Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles Gets a New Look Ahead of its September 30 release date, we were given a new look at FInal Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles, which features fully voiced dialogue, enhanced graphics, and a ton of gameplay improvements. Plants Vs. Zombies: Replanted Brings Back the Beloved Tower Defense Game Switch and Switch 2 will be getting Plants Vs. Zombies: Replanted on October 23, and it will present the game in HD with local co-op and PVP. If you pre-order the game, you can unlock a retro Peashooter skin. Cronos: The New Dawn Confirms Bloober Horror for Nintendo Switch 2 Alongside September Release Date Bloober Team's Cronos: The New Dawn will head to Nintendo Switch 2 on September 5, 2025, and will tell a terrifying third-person survival horror tale involving time travel, overwhelming foes, and much more. In this tale, players will explore two different era - a brutal future and a 1980s Poland. Once Upon a Katamari Has You Restoring All the Stars of the Universe By Rolling Around Once Upon a Katamari is the latest entry in the beloved series, and this new game looks to be just as wacky and wonderful as the rest. In this tale, Earth was accidentially destroyed and the starry sky has vanished. Your job is to restore the stars of the universe, and you'll have plenty of fun rolling up everything on the way to completing your message. Chillin' by the Fire Is Out Now and It Looks Very Cozy Chillin' by the Fire is a new "campfire simulation game" that tasks players with keeping their flame alive on beaches, forests, snowy mountain tops, and more. Players can team up with a few friends online or via GameShare, and they'll even appear on screen if a camera is connected. This game is all about slowing down and reclaiming the "simple joy of just sitting around and watching a campfire grow." Yakuza Kiwami 1 & 2 Bring the Updated Versions of the PS2 Classics to Switch 2 Yakuza Kiwami 1 & 2 will bring the two more chapters of Kazuma Kiryu's tale to Switch 2, and this time its the 2016 and 2017 remake of the PS2's Yakuza and Yakuza 2, respectively. These Switch 2 versions will be released on November 13, 2025. If you own Yakuza Kiwami on the original Switch, you can upgrade for a discounted price.
