Briasa confirmed for The Everest
Hawkes Racing made the announcement at lunch time on Saturday with the gelding snapped up by slot holders Max Whitby, Steve McCann, Colin Madden and Neil Werrett.
Briasa confirmed himself as one of the most exciting sprinters in the country when the son of Smart Missile got the better of Overpass to prevail in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes on day one of The Championships.
'It's very exciting obviously but it's nice to get it done early so we can map out the best way to get him there to give us the best possible chance at the race,' co-trainer Michael Hawkes said.
'He's still out in the paddock for a bit but we'll work out when we get him back and he'll guide us on the path we plot.
'He'll have one or two runs into The Everest and he stay in Sydney and he'll run in the lead ups.
'We just need to decide how many and which ones.'
Briasa's rise into The Everest calculations has been sensational with the rising five-year-old only breaking his maiden in autumn last year.
He's since put together seven wins from 10 starts and Hawkes, who trains in partnership with his father John and brother Wayne, believes his best could still be ahead of him.

'Six months ago, he was in a benchmark 85 on the Kensington so to have come that far in such a short time only emphasises how exciting he is, and we still don't know where his ceiling is.
'Every preparation he's improved as a racehorse and there's no reason why that won't be the case again when he starts off his Everest campaign.'
Unbeaten colt Private Harry was the first horse locked in for The Everest following his The Galaxy victory on Golden Slipper day.
The Nathan Doyle-trained sprinter was purchased by racing and breeding powerhouse Yulong after the win and will run in their slot in the race.
The Everest betting is dominated by Hong Kong superstar Ka Ying Rising ($1.90 favourite) with plans for the David Hayes-trained sprint weapon still to be officially snapped up for the race.
Private Harry is the $6 second favourite with Briasa on the third line of betting at $8.

Lindsay Park star Mr Brightside starts spring campaign in Flemington jumpout
The rider was different but it was otherwise business as usual for nine-time Group 1 winner Mr Brightside's return to the jumpouts at Flemington on Monday. Mr Brightside last raced in an unsuccessful trip to Hong Kong in April but arrived at Flemington last week to step up his latest spring campaign for trainers Ben, JD and Will Hayes. Group 1-winning jockey Luke Currie stepped in for regular rider Craig Williams at Flemington. Ben Hayes said Mr Brightside performed as usual despite not being asked for much in his first hitout in more than three months. 'He just cruised around and did what he normally does so we were happy with him,' Hayes said. 'Luke Currie rode him in the jumpout because Craig is overseas in the Ukraine at the moment and he gave us a good report. 'He said he felt great and did everything he was asked.' The Hayes brothers will keep to their usual routine and give Mr Brightside a second jumpout before the gelding returns in the Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 16. Mr Brightside won the Lawrence Stakes in 2022 and 2023 before missing last year's race to tackle the Group 1 Memsie Stakes first-up. 'We've stuck to a method that has worked time after time with him,' Hayes said. Mr Brightside (white jacket) had his first jumpout of the spring at Flemington on Monday. Hayes said, while the Hong Kong trip failed to live up to expectations, Mr Brightside had benefited from his first taste of international competition. He said the son of Bullbars was in the category of Cox Plate runner Docklands, who thrived after his trip to Australia to win a Group 1 race at Royal Ascot at his first start back in England. 'I think the trip to Hong Kong might have helped him even though it didn't pan out in the way we wanted,' Hayes said. 'He came back a better horse and it is often the case that horses can improve off travelling. 'Have a look at Docklands. He travelled out here and went back to England and performed really well over there.' Unbeaten filly Scenic Point was another of the Lindsay Park team to step out at Monday's Flemington jumpouts, winning the first heat of the morning. Hayes said Scenic Point would resume in the Group 3 Quezette Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday week but the stable took the chance to give the three-year-old a look at the Flemington straight. 'She got a little bit lost down the straight but it was good to give her a look down the straight in case her spring preparation takes her that way in a race like the Coolmore,' Hayes said. 'We'll see what she does in her first run or two then decide whether she's going to be a Thousand Guineas filly or comes back to the Coolmore. 'It's great that the Thousand Guineas is back where it was (in October) as those fillies could again go on to the Oaks if they're shaping that way.'

Ben Cousins to join Cyril Rioli and Gary Ablett Jr in EJ Whitten Legends Game
The quality of players turning out in the reborn EJ Whitten Legends Game has been enhanced with Brownlow medallist Ben Cousins set to take to Marvel Stadium. Fifteen years after his AFL retirement, having endured significant breakdowns and controversies, the West Coast premiership star will pull on the boots for charity. Cousins will join a growing list of former champions, including Cyril Rioli, Gary Ablett Jr, Luke Hodge and Nick Riewoldt. It marks a significant moment for Cousins, who went through a well-publicised battle with drug addiction that prematurely ended his time at the Eagles where he was a club legend. But in recent years the six-time All-Australian player has turned his life around and become a media mainstay, with a radio gig in Perth and even a star turn on Dancing with the Stars. Cousins will partner 2006 premiership teammate Andrew Embley in the All Stars side, while 2018 West Coast premiership captain Luke Shuey is locked in to line up for the Victorian team. Organisers have managed to lure the reclusive Rioli into playing, with his Hawthorn premiership teammate Shane Crawford coaching the All Stars team. The game will be played on the Thursday night between the end of the home-and-away season and the start of the finals series.
