When speaking with My San Antonio this week, Goldberg revealed his final match will take place 'down south' before the end of the year. While his opponent is still unknown, we might have a good idea of where his final match will take place thanks to a new report.
According to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), Goldberg's retirement match is tentatively being scheduled for Atlanta. This is the same city where Goldberg won the WCW Championship for the first time against Hollywood Hogan at the Georgia Dome on Nitro. He also played for the Georgia Bulldogs in college and the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL.
While it has yet to be officially announced, WWE has a Saturday Night's Main Event scheduled for July 12 in Atlanta. The same day as AEW All In: Texas. Fans won't be forced to choose however as All In is scheduled to air Saturday afternoon.
Sapp can't confirm that this is the night of Goldberg's retirement match. However, he can confirm that he's being discussed to at least appear on that show.

Two WWE Superstars May Be Leaving The Company

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. The WWE future of Karrion Kross and Scarlett is in serious doubt as their contracts with the company are reportedly set to expire this weekend. A new report indicates that as of Monday afternoon, no new deal had been offered to the duo. Kross and Scarlett were noticeably absent from the August 4th episode of Monday Night Raw, and they were not backstage at the event. This has fueled intense speculation about their status with the company. A Looming WWE Deadline A new report from Fightful Select has confirmed that the contracts for both Karrion Kross and Scarlett are due to expire this coming weekend. A WWE higher-up noted that new deals had not yet been offered to either performer. This news comes just days after Kross concluded a high-profile feud with Sami Zayn at SummerSlam. The uncertainty surrounding his contract has become one of the biggest backstage stories in WWE. WWE Career of Creative Extremes Karrion Kross's WWE journey has been a rollercoaster of creative highs and lows. During his first run in NXT, he was booked as an unstoppable monster, and with Scarlett by his side, he became a dominant, two-time NXT Champion. However, his initial main roster debut in 2021 is considered one of the biggest fumbles in recent history, as he was stripped of his character and lost his first match, which killed his momentum and led to his release. A former employee Janel Grant accused McMahon, 78, of sexual assault and sexually trafficking her. MoreHe was brought back by the new creative regime in 2022 with his full character restored. While his second run has been more successful, it has also been marked by inconsistent booking, with pushes that have often been stopped and started, which has reportedly been a source of professional frustration. More news: WWE Superstar Announces Retirement Match A Recent WWE Resurgence In recent months, Kross has seen a career resurgence, largely thanks to a groundswell of fan support. The "We Want Kross" movement on social media led to him being featured more prominently and adopting a more intense, personal character. This culminated in a long-running feud with one of Raw's top babyfaces, Sami Zayn. Despite losing to Zayn at both Night of Champions and this past weekend's SummerSlam, Kross's performance and character work were highly praised. With his popularity on the rise, the news of his potential departure is a puzzling development. The clock is now ticking for WWE and Kross to come to terms on a new agreement. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. WWE has announced that the former World Heavyweight Champion, GUNTHER, is out of action indefinitely. The announcement was made on the August 4th episode of Monday Night Raw, just two days after he lost his title in the main event of SummerSlam Night One. On the broadcast, commentator Michael Cole provided a storyline explanation for the former champion's upcoming absence. The on-screen injury is being used to write "The Ring General" off of television. Cole just announced Gunther will be out indefinitely because of an orbital — Julian Weeks (@JulianWks) August 5, 2025 A Brutal Diagnosis For GUNTHER Michael Cole stated to the television audience that during his match with CM Punk at SummerSlam, GUNTHER suffered a septal hematoma and an orbital blowout fracture. These severe-sounding facial injuries are the official storyline reason why he will be away from WWE programming. The on-air announcement provides a kayfabe explanation for the bloody nose GUNTHER was shown with at the conclusion of the SummerSlam main event. WWE Blending Fact And Fiction This storyline injury appears to be a masterful way to write GUNTHER off television so he can undergo a legitimate medical procedure. It was previously reported by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer that the bloody finish at SummerSlam was a planned angle. The purpose was to provide cover for GUNTHER to have legitimate nose surgery in the near future. By creating a severe storyline injury, WWE is able to protect the aura of the nearly unbeatable "Ring General," even in defeat. The narrative suggests he lost his title while battling through serious fractures, making him look incredibly tough. The End Of A Dominant WWE Era GUNTHER's time off comes at the end of one of the most dominant runs in modern WWE history. Before winning the World Heavyweight Championship, he held the Intercontinental Championship for a record-breaking 666 days, a reign that is widely credited with restoring prestige to the title. His hard-hitting, physical style has made him one of the most respected and feared in-ring performers in the world. His loss to CM Punk at SummerSlam was a massive moment, and it was immediately followed by chaos. Seth Rollins, revealing his own recent injury was a work, successfully cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on Punk to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. GUNTHER's absence now clears the way for the new feud between Rollins and Punk to take center stage on Raw. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.

Roman Reigns Is Taking Leave Of Absence From WWE

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Roman Reigns has been brutally attacked and written off WWE television. The closing segment of the August 4th episode of Monday Night Raw saw the former champion destroyed by the new faction led by World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. The on-screen assault is the storyline reason for Reigns' upcoming hiatus from the company. He is reportedly set to begin filming a major role in a Hollywood movie. A Brutal Post-Main Event Ambush The show's main event saw Seth Rollins defend his World Heavyweight Championship against LA Knight, which ended in a disqualification after an attack from CM Punk. This led to a post-match brawl where Rollins' allies, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, helped him lay out both Punk and Knight. As the trio stood tall, Roman Reigns' music hit. Reigns stormed the ring to even the odds, but the numbers game was too much. Rollins blindsided Reigns with a Stomp, which was followed by a devastating spear from Breakker. The assault culminated with Bronson Reed delivering three of his signature Tsunami splashes to the fallen Reigns as the show went off the air. Time Off For Hollywood This violent write-off serves a real-world purpose. It has been widely reported by outlets like Deadline that Roman Reigns (Joe Anoa'i) has been cast in a significant role as the iconic villain Akuma in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie. The film's production schedule requires him to be away from the weekly demands of WWE television for an extended period. While no official return date has been announced, Reigns is currently advertised for the Survivor Series premium live event in November. SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - JANUARY 28: Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens wrestle during the WWE and Universal Championship match during the WWE Royal Rumble event at the Alamodome on January 28, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas. More Alex BierensMore news: WWE Superstar Announces Retirement Match A New "Tribal Chief"? This recent heroic act from Roman Reigns signals a potential major character shift for the former "Tribal Chief." After a dominant, multi-year run as WWE's top villain, he suffered a humbling loss to his legendary rival, John Cena, at SummerSlam this past weekend. That loss, combined with his actions on Raw, suggests that Reigns may be transitioning into a new babyface role upon his eventual return from his filming commitments. For now, however, Monday Night Raw belongs to Seth Rollins and his new, ruthless faction. Their "Ruse of the Century" at SummerSlam saw Rollins steal the World Heavyweight Title, and their destruction of Roman Reigns just two nights later is a clear and dominant statement that a new empire is in control.
