Michigan State is one of five schools in the running for a big-time edge rusher in the 2027 class.
Andrew Rogers of Greensboro, N.C. released his top five schools on Friday, with the Spartans cracking the list. According to a post from Rogers on his social media X account, Michigan State was joined on his top five list by LSU, Auburn, Florida State and Virginia Tech.
Rogers is a four-star edge rusher, with a recruiting rating of 91.97 in 247Sports composite system. He ranks as the No. 27 edge rusher and No. 232 overall prospect in the class. He is also listed as the No. 9 player from North Carolina in the class.
Michigan State is one of more than 20 schools to offer Rogers, according to 247Sports. So this is pretty impressive to see Michigan State in the mix among some of the biggest brands in all of college football. We will have to continue to monitor Rogers' recruitment, with hopefully the Spartans coming out on top in this battle for a key 2027 prospect.

Colorado football key 2026 offensive line target commits to SEC program

Colorado football class of 2026 target, offensive lineman Deacon Schmitt, committed to Oklahoma on Saturday. Schmitt chose the Sooners over the Buffaloes and the Alabama Crimson Tide. 247Sports Composite ranks the Windsor, Colorado, native as the No. 371 overall player in the class of 2026, the No. 31 interior offensive lineman and the top prospect from his home state. His commitment follows official visits to each of his four finalists, including Boulder on May 2. Schmitt joins an Oklahoma class of 2026 that currently ranks No. 36 in the nation with 14 players committed. Despite having a nearly top 30-ranked class, the Sooners still are on the outside looking in, sitting at No. 10 among SEC recruiting classes. The Buffs should view Schmitt's commitment as a missed opportunity to keep one of the top Colorado recruits in-state. However, it became clear that the Buffs were significantly behind the Sooners in recent weeks. After receiving two commitments this week, Colorado's 2026 class does not feel as bleak with four recruits now in the fold. Schmitt's decision was one of the four top targets scheduled to announce their commitment over the next couple of weeks. Adding more blue-chip prospects will be key to Colorado improving a relatively slow start to the current recruiting cycle. Follow Charlie Strella on X, Threads and Instagram. Texas A&M receives prediction to land elite 2027 4-star QB out of Georgia

Texas A&M's quarterback future presents an interesting discussion in today's transfer portal age, as 2025 starting QB Marcel Reed will need to succeed this season to continue in his role, while the depth chart includes redshirt freshman Miles O'Neill, who looks like the next man in line if Reed fails to deliver. However, 2026 four-star commit Helaman Casuga, who was one of the top performers during On3's Elite 11 event last week, looks like the future starter after Reed and O'Neill, so looking ahead to the 2027 cycle, coach Mike Elko and OC Collin Klein have their eyes on four-star quarterback Jayce Johnson, who is one his way to becoming a five-star prospect by this time next year. After landing in his top-five program list this week, Johnson is down to Tennessee, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Florida State, and Texas A&M. According to a source, Johnson and Collin Klein have developed a strong relationship based on what the Valdosta, Georgia native could do in his offense. On Saturday, it was revealed that Rivals recruiting insider Sam Spiegelman has predicted that Texas A&M will land Jayce Johnson, who is expected to announce his commitment on August 3. This isn't a shock given the staff's closeness to his development, combined with Elko's recruiting pipeline in Georgia, which features three high-ranking 2026 commits from the Peach State. Set to enter his all-important junior season at Lowndes High School, Johnson made his mark during his 2024 sophomore season after throwing for 1,799 yards, 16 touchdowns, and three interceptions, paired with over 300 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. According to Rivals, Johnson is currently positioned as the 29th-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the 5th-ranked quarterback, and the 4th-ranked prospect in Georgia.
