Video Shows Stephanie White, Becky Hammon's Exchange Right Before Final Buzzer
Video Shows Stephanie White, Becky Hammon's Exchange Right Before Final Buzzer originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Thursday night's matchup between the Indiana Fever and the Las Vegas Aces pitted two of the top coaches in the WNBA against each other. Advertisement In the end, however, it was Stephanie White who outclassed Becky Hammon as the former led the Fever to a dominant 81-54 blowout win against a hapless Aces side. The two coaches had a brief exchange right before the final buzzer, as the two shook hands and gave each other a warm hug on the sidelines. It is unclear what was said between the two veteran shot-callers, but there's no denying that there's a lot of mutual respect there. Both coaches were all smiles as well, with Hammon, in particular, in a seemingly good mood as she congratulated White for a job well done. This was far from the case in Hammon's postgame interview, though, as the two-time WNBA champion coach blasted her players for their effort in the loss. Advertisement "That's a complete lack of professionalism to come here with that effort," Hammon said after the game, via Michael Voepel of ESPN. "They played better yesterday in practice by a lot. I don't know how you step onto the floor with 20,000 people in the stands and perform like that. "It is the worst offensive night I've ever seen [since] I've been here in the last four years." Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon blasted her squad after the Yamashita-Imagn Images The Aces have fallen to 8-9 after this brutal loss, while the Fever have improved to 9-8. This puts Indiana a full one game ahead of Las Vegas for the No. 7 spot in the league. Caitlin Clark Urged to Make Big Change By Fever Teammate
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The 2025 WNBA season has not gone according to play for Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark. She was expected to be an MVP candidate and to lead her team to WNBA championship contention. So far this year, Clark has dealt with two different injury issues that have kept her out of games. While the Fever have not been bad, they hold a 9-8 record. That is far from where most had expected them to be 17 games into the season. With that being said, one of Clark's teammate has offered her some major advice. Clark has been urged to consider making a major change to her game moving forward, which would take a lot of pressure off of her and perhaps keep her healthy. Natasha Howard recently spoke out about Clark and offered what she thinks could help Clark quite a bit. "Everybody knows she can shoot the heck out the ball. And she can pass," Howard said. "But just letting her know you don't have to do everything like you had to do in Iowa. You have great teammates and phenomenal players around you that can take that weight off your shoulders." She continued on, imploring Clark to let her teammates carry more of the pressure. "You don't have to do everything. We expect you to knock down those clutch shots, that's what we expect you to do. But overall, you don't have to do everything. Give us some of your pressure, too." Read more: Dick Vitale Defends Caitlin Clark Amid WNBA All-Star Controversy Through her first two seasons, Clark has suffered through a lot of wear and tear. She has been on the receiving end of a lot of hard fouls and apparent cheap shots. Plenty of media coverage has turned against her as well. Howard's advice is good advice. Clark should rely more on her teammates in order to extend her career. Hopefully, she's able to get back to full health and make a big impact on the Fever and help lead them to a deep run in the playoffs. WNBA Fans Are Complaining After Caitlin Clark-Cheryl Reeve News
WNBA Fans Are Complaining After Caitlin Clark-Cheryl Reeve News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There is a bit of history between Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark and Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve. Advertisement The veteran shot-caller, who coached Team USA at the Paris Olympics last year, was called out for her alleged role in Clark being left out of the national squad. On top of that, Reeve was also accused of publicly criticizing Clark before the former Iowa star's WNBA debut last year. These two are now about to cross paths. This is after WNBA Communications announced on Thursday that Reeve will be coaching Team Clark in the upcoming WNBA All-Star Game on July 19. Reeve's Lynx has the best record in the league as of Thursday (15-2), which earned the 58-year-old the privilege to coach one of the two teams in the All-Star Game. Clark, on the other hand, was previously named team captain after receiving the most All-Star votes from the fans. Advertisement More than a few fans were displeased with this development and quickly took to social media to air their complaints. "This system is dumb. Either bring in someone from outside the league like last year or let the captains pick their coach," a comment on X read. "Damn CC got the opps as coach, swap em please," another said. "Uh we wanted someone who can run the CC offense," a user wrote. Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve questions a call by a referee against the Los Angeles Kluckhohn-Imagn Images "No one wants Cheryle [Reeve]. She is WNBA old guard. We need new energy," demanded a fan. "Please swap coaches," said another. "Y'all messy as hell for this. Why not let the captains pick the coach or let the fans vote for the coaches? We don't care about the advantages give Clark Brondello," a user posted. Advertisement It is also worth noting that Reeve will be going up against her star player on the Lynx, Napheesa Collier, who was also named team captain after receiving the second-highest number of fan votes. This adds another layer of intrigue to this storyline. There's no denying, however, that the more compelling narrative involves Clark playing under Reeve for the first time in her career.
