Inside Joanna Lumley's Wednesday season 2 role as Jenna Ortega link revealed

Joanna Lumley is set to star in season two of Netflix's Wednesday, but what do we know about her role in the upcoming season of the horror comedy-drama series? WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Wednesday season 2. ‌ The second series of Netflix 's horror comedy-drama Wednesday is set to welcome British icon Joanna Lumley to its cast, sparking intrigue among fans about her role in the show. ‌ Lumley, best known for her outrageous portrayal of Patsy Stone in the 90s sitcom Absolutely Fabulous alongside Jennifer Saunders, has since been involved in a variety of major projects. ‌ The former model, author and activist has featured in a number of successful films such as Paddington 2 and The Wolf of Wall Street, as well as popular UK series like Fool Me Once and Amandaland. Her next television appearance will be in the Addams Family spin-off, Wednesday, which returns for its second series on Netflix on Wednesday, August 6. Ahead of the show's return, Netflix has hinted at how the unforgettable 79 year old will make her mark in the series. ‌ Lumley will join the cast as none other than Wednesday Addams' (played by Jenna Ortega) Grandma Hester Frump. She is described as Morticia Addams' (Catherine Zeta-Jones) "formidable mother and the fabulously wealthy mogul behind Frump Mortuaries", one of the most successful outcast-owned companies in America. ‌ With this teaser in mind, it's speculated that Morticia will be clashing with her mother in the upcoming series. Netflix further describes Grandma Hester as being "immaculately coiffed, emotionally cold, and armed with a razor-sharp tongue. ‌ "Hester is calculated in everything she does, from running her empire to managing her family's legacy." A first glimpse of Lumley's Wednesday transformation has been unveiled ahead of the second series launch, and she appears as striking as ever sporting a gothic fitted black gown and theatrical upswept hairstyle. She won't be the sole new addition when the sophomore season kicks off, as Lumley will be accompanied by Thandiwe Newton portraying psychiatrist Dr Rachael Fairburn, Steve Buscemi as Principal Dort and Billie Piper taking on the role of music instructor Isadora Capri. What's particularly thrilling is that pop icon Lady Gaga is also expected to feature in Wednesday as an educator named Rosaline Rotwood, though no preview shots of the superstar have emerged as of yet.

Netflix drama is axed despite 11 million views over a weekend

A Netflix drama starring Arnold Schwazenegger has been suddenly axed from the streaming platform despite racking up 11 million views by subscribers over its opening weekend A hit Netflix drama starring legendary actor Arnold Schwazenegger has been suddenly axed by the streaming platform. The action comedy titled Fubar is the Hollywood actor's first move into the world of TV. The first season of Fubar saw 11million people watch the TV show over a weekend in May 2023. ‌ But the second season only garnered 2.2million views, which, according to Deadline, is reportedly the reason for it being axed. In a bid to promote the TV series, Arnold, best known as Arnie among his fans, announced his latest project in 2021. ‌ It comes after reports Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set for new 'goldmine' offer - but could face issue. ‌ At the time he told fans: "Fans from all over the world have been asking me for a wild ride like this for years, and now they're finally going to get it because of our great partners at Skydance and Netflix." He added: "I am beyond pumped to start work on the show with [creator] Nick [Santora] and Monica and the whole team." ‌ Arnold plays a CIA operator named Luke Brunner and Monica Barbaro plays his daughter. The series shows the pair solving their "high stakes missions" while dealing with their "awkward family dynamics." Ahead of the second season, fans expressed concern for the show as its return was less than impressive. Taking to X one fan wrote: "Season 2 of FUBAR was full of action and found family but felt underwhelming in prioritising messy love triangles over character growth." ‌ Another said: "[Netflix] keep increasing prices and refusing to give shows that people love a last season. I am going to FINALLY cancel Netflix if Fubar doesn't get a 3rd season." ‌ And on Rotten Tomatoes, one user penned: "The first season wasn't this bad. The acting is horrible, the direction is awful, the story is ridiculous and the dialogue dreadful. " They continued: "The premise is stupid and then it went downhill from there. There were times I literally cringed." But in order to balance the negative comments, one person wrote that it was "quirky but brilliant" and went on to say it was "terrific fun." A second added: "Just finished Fubar S2. This show is just great. A bit slap stick, but clever and just fun. Stand out performances from absolutely every cast member, my fav from Andy Buckley he was hilarious. "

Adam Sandler can't resist casting his nepo daughters! Teens Sunny and Sadie have starring roles in the new Happy Gilmore 2 - and have appeared in at least 20 of the actor's films

Adam Sandler delighted fans with the recent release of Happy Gilmore 2, but he wasn't the only Sandler entertaining viewers. The American actor's two daughters with his wife, Jackie, Sadie, 19, and Sunny, 16, were also stars of the new Netflix comedy film, which followed the golfer's life after his Tour Championship win. However, it's far from the their first time on a film set, because the two have starred in many of their father's much-loved productions. It's not just recent roles either. The pair have collaborated with their father from a very young age, with Sadie appearing in the 2008 film Don't Mess with the Zohan at two years old. Throughout their childhood, the duo has gone on to star in tens of their father's films, including Grown Ups, Hotel Transylvania, and Jack and Jill. In the second Happy Gilmore film, Adam's children took centre stage, with Sadie playing Charlotte, a woman Happy meets in a group therapy session, and his youngest playing his on-screen daughter, Charlotte Gilmore. However, Sunny and Sadie didn't always secure such high-flying roles, and they have previously made such small cameos that even the die-hard Sandler fans might struggle to spot them. Here, Femail delves into the very starry careers of Sunny and Sadie at just 16 and 19 years old. Adam Sandler isn't the only star in his family, and his daughters, Sadie and Sunny Sandler, are becoming breakout stars in their own right, thanks to their father casting them in many of his most famous productions (pictured: Sunny in You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah) 19-year-old Sadie hasn't experienced a typical childhood, and she made her first film debut as a toddler in her father's 2008 movie, Don't Mess with the Zohan, where she played the Girl Riding On Goat. Then, she starred as the Sweetest Medieval Girl of All Time in 2008's Bedtime Stories and was Tardio's daughter in Grown Ups. In 2011's smash hit comedy Just Go with It, with Jennifer Aniston, Sadie played a girl on the rope bridge. That same year, she starred as the little girl on the ship in the comedy film Jack and Jill. In 2012, she undertook the role of the lemonade stand kid in That's My Boy and voiced young Mavis in Hotel Transylvania, which included Selena Gomez as the teen Mavis. One year later, she played Sadie Tardio in Grown Ups 2, and the year after, she was a little league announcer in Blended. In 2015, she starred in three major film productions: Pixels, Hotel Transylvania 2 and The Ridiculous 6. After that, she was in The Do-Over, Sandy Wexler, The Week Of, and Hotel Transylvania 3 over the next few years. Sunny Sandler (seen in You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah) has worked with her father since she was a toddler Sunny took on the role of her her father's on-screen daughter, Charlotte Gilmore, in Happy Gilmore 2 (pictured) The 19-year-old starred as Charlotte in her father's recent Netflix hit - Happy Gilmore 2 (pictured) In 2019, she worked alongside her father and Jennifer Aniston in Murder Mystery as Summer. After that, the budding actress worked as part of the cast for The Wrong Missy and Hubie Halloween. In a recent film, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, she took on a bigger role as Ronnie Friedman before voicing a character in the 2023 film Leo and starring in Happy Gilmore 2. Meanwhile, her younger sister Sunny has also taken on a slew of impressive acting roles from a young age. Adam and Jackie Sandler welcomed Sunny into the world on November 2, 2008 - five months after Sadie made her big screen debut. Two years later, Sunny made her debut in the 2010 blockbuster Grown Ups as Tardio's daughter and has since added over a dozen film credits. In 2011, Sunny appeared alongside her older sister in Just Go with It as part of the family who appeared on the rope bridge, and in Jack and Jill as a little girl. A few years later, the 16-year-old starred in That's My Boy, Grown Ups 2, Blended and lent her voice to Hotel Transylvania. She later appeared in The Do-Over as Lola, in The Week of as Eva, and in Hotel Transylvania 3. In 2019 and 2020, Sunny joined her father and sister on Murder Mystery and The Wrong Missy. She then starred in Hubie Halloween as Cooky, in Hustle as a young girl, before taking on a leading role in Netflix's You're So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah and Happy Gilmore 2. The Happy Gilmore sequel, directed by Kyle Newacheck, also starred original cast members Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen, and Ben Stiller. Other notable names in the film included Goldie Hawn, Ben Stiller, Kevin Nealon, Ken Jennings, and Benny Safdie. Eminem, Cam'ron and Post Malone are among the notable musicians who are in the cast, according to the streaming service. The sports comedy also features dozens of cameos from prominent celebrities across multiple fields, such as NFL standout and Taylor Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and former NFL standout and Kim Kardashian's ex, Reggie Bush. The world of golf is also well-represented, with a number of prominent golf players in the film. They include Paige Spiranac, John Daly, Bryson DeChambeau, Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler, among others. Professional wrestling fans will also be pleased to see cameos from stars such as Nikki Bella, Maxwell Jacob Friedman and Becky Lynch. Elsewhere, Adam Sandler fans are also only just finding out that he has starred alongside his wife Jackie Sandler in over 20 of his films. The Uncut Gems actor, 58, has made a conscious effort to appear alongside his other half over the past two decades, with many cinemagoers keeping an eye out for her cameos, which they've likened to Easter eggs. Jackie, 50, has appeared in several of Adam's movies, including 50 First Dates (2004), where she played a dentist, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry (2007), in which she was a teacher, and Grown Ups (2010), where she played Richie Minervini's on-screen wife. Despite frequently having to watch Adam kiss other women on set, the producer insists his wife doesn't get jealous of his on-screen romances. 'The only awkward part is hearing my wife on the side going, "Harder! Harder! Kiss her harder! Deeper," he told the Associated Press in 2019, while promoting his hit Netflix film, Murder Mystery, which he starred in alongside Jennifer Aniston.
