Inside Joanna Lumley's Wednesday season 2 role as Jenna Ortega link revealed

Daily Record2 days ago
Joanna Lumley is set to star in season two of Netflix's Wednesday, but what do we know about her role in the upcoming season of the horror comedy-drama series?
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Wednesday season 2.

The second series of Netflix 's horror comedy-drama Wednesday is set to welcome British icon Joanna Lumley to its cast, sparking intrigue among fans about her role in the show.

Lumley, best known for her outrageous portrayal of Patsy Stone in the 90s sitcom Absolutely Fabulous alongside Jennifer Saunders, has since been involved in a variety of major projects.

The former model, author and activist has featured in a number of successful films such as Paddington 2 and The Wolf of Wall Street, as well as popular UK series like Fool Me Once and Amandaland.
Her next television appearance will be in the Addams Family spin-off, Wednesday, which returns for its second series on Netflix on Wednesday, August 6.
Ahead of the show's return, Netflix has hinted at how the unforgettable 79 year old will make her mark in the series.

Lumley will join the cast as none other than Wednesday Addams' (played by Jenna Ortega) Grandma Hester Frump.
She is described as Morticia Addams' (Catherine Zeta-Jones) "formidable mother and the fabulously wealthy mogul behind Frump Mortuaries", one of the most successful outcast-owned companies in America.

With this teaser in mind, it's speculated that Morticia will be clashing with her mother in the upcoming series.
Netflix further describes Grandma Hester as being "immaculately coiffed, emotionally cold, and armed with a razor-sharp tongue.

"Hester is calculated in everything she does, from running her empire to managing her family's legacy."
A first glimpse of Lumley's Wednesday transformation has been unveiled ahead of the second series launch, and she appears as striking as ever sporting a gothic fitted black gown and theatrical upswept hairstyle.
She won't be the sole new addition when the sophomore season kicks off, as Lumley will be accompanied by Thandiwe Newton portraying psychiatrist Dr Rachael Fairburn, Steve Buscemi as Principal Dort and Billie Piper taking on the role of music instructor Isadora Capri.
What's particularly thrilling is that pop icon Lady Gaga is also expected to feature in Wednesday as an educator named Rosaline Rotwood, though no preview shots of the superstar have emerged as of yet.

The Hunting Wives fans think they've spotted a glaring error in the Netflix series

Fans of the hit Netflix series The Hunting Wives think they caught a mistake in the premiere episode. One TikTok user highlighted a scene in which actress Brittany Snow 's character, Sophie O'Neil, opens her kitchen freezer, revealing a Kraft Mac & Cheese product inside. 'Of all the things that shocked me about The Hunting Wives, this is the part that really had me shook,' the viewer wrote across the snippet. She added in the caption, 'Why do I always notice weird things in shows?' The clip zoomed in on the inside of the freezer, confusing fans who are primarily familiar with the food brand's pasta offerings. 'I've been WAITING FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO BRING THIS UP,' one person wrote in the comments section of Shandy's post. Someone else quipped about Evan Jonigkeit's character: 'It was definitely Graham, add that to the list of reasons we don't like him.' Another fan came to the conclusion, 'There is not reasonable explanation which makes this hilarious.' But a more knowledgable consumer shared an explanation for the puzzling display. 'Those are mac n cheese frozen meals, friend,' they shared. And a different social media user said knowingly, 'Any time a brand or logo is shown in a movie, it is a product placement. So many people are talking about this so they did their job.' The Hunting Wives is adapted from a bestselling book, and the sex-fueled show has struck a chord with audiences since its July 21 premiere. The eight-part series is based on author May Cobb's erotic thriller of the same name and adapted by Rebecca Cutler, who said she was in 'awe of its flagrant horniness.' It doesn't shy away from full-frontal nudity, no-holds-barred sex, and steamy make-out sessions that have earned it comparisons to Big Little Lies and Desperate Housewives. Viewers are introduced to its protagonist Sophie as she relocates to deep-red Texas from Boston with her husband Graham. She finds herself embroiled in the lives of a mysterious and exclusive group of gun-toting MAGA women dubbed The Hunting Wives. Among them is Margo (Malin Åckerman), who lures Sophie into their world of sex, scandal, and salacious gossip. Margo and her husband, Texas governor hopeful Jed (Dermot Mulroney), have an open relationship that gives the high-flying socialite freedom to have flings with younger men, such as the barely-legal Brad (George Ferrier) and also women like her friend Callie (Jaime Ray Newman).

Jamie replied: 'Every day, I get a feeling of wanting to be around you more and more and knowing that this journey is coming to an end, that we won't be able to spend every second with each other, it's gonna make me really miss this place, but I know that on the outside world, we've got some great things coming.' Angel recalled having a 'spark' with Ty from the very beginning, adding that he is 'so thoughtful'. She said: 'I can't wait for outside life with you. I literally couldn't be happier.' Ty replied: 'I want to thank you and the Love Island gods for sending you in. 'I kind of didn't know where I was, and kind of lost myself a bit. Couples who, despite not winning, remain together include Olivia Buckland and Alex Bowen (Season 2), Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury (Season 5) and Dami Hope and Indiyah Polack (Season 8).

When is Wednesday season 2 released on Netflix?

Wednesday season two will be released in two parts on Netflix The countdown is nearly at an end for the much-anticipated second season of Wednesday on Netflix. The series is set to grace screens across the globe imminently, promising fans another dose of its delightfully dark storytelling, reports the Mirror US. ‌ Jenna Ortega is back as Wednesday Addams, navigating the eerie corridors of Nevermore Academy with a fresh mystery to unravel in season two. Not only will viewers get more of the stoic and sharp-witted teenager and her pals, but they'll also see more of her eccentric family this time around, along with an A-list cast. ‌ Wednesday made its debut in 2022, offering a fresh take on the classic Addams Family saga. She added: "If you see a number, it looks kind of crazy, but it's not like I've seen it in a room or anything like that." Ortega also shared her personal measure of success, saying: "I just try not to pay too much attention to that stuff because success for me is more about feeling accomplished and being able to put something out into the world and feel proud. ‌ "It's wonderful that it's been received so well, because there's a lot of pressure." She added: "When we started the show, I was 18 and had never worked with a director as big as Tim. I had led a show before, but not with a character that was so well known and loved prior to me joining. "It's a relief, but I would be lying if I didn't say that I still don't feel super anxious or feel like I have something I need to live up to every day on set. Maybe that's a good thing, but it hasn't gotten easier." ‌ Here's what you need to know about the release schedule for the show on Netflix. ‌ What time does Wednesday season 2 come out on Netflix UK?
