5 minutes with RHOJ star Lethabo Lejoy– ‘You need to be authentic'
After she made rounds for opening up about the hardships of Black tax in season 3 of The Real Housewives of Johannesburg (RHOJ), TRUELOVE catches up with the radio personality, reality TV star, current affairs enthusiast, foodie and businesswoman.
As an OG housewife, what would you tell someone who is considering being part of a reality TV show?
You need to be authentic because this plays an important role. You also need to have a backbone. You need to be strong mentally and physically because long hours go into it. You need to know what triggers you. With reality shows, you put your whole life out there. You might not put it there yourself but people around you might bring it up, so you must be ready to bear it all – the good, bad and ugly.

How do you continue spreading hope for the children growing up in Limpopo looking up to you?
Through the Lejoy Foundation, I teamed up with other foundations so we can continue going to schools to donate sanitary towels. Recently, we teamed up with Mr Jones in Venda, where we went to a school to donate R120 000 towards a bursary for the best matric learner from last year. We also gave out 10 laptops to the learners and school uniforms. It was a big celebration, where the kids were cooked for. And, as we go to these places, we tell children about our life stories and how hard it was growing up, but that we worked hard to get to this point.
How much have you grown since the first time many people were introduced to you during the first season of RHOJ?
This show has opened many doors for me that I never thought even existed. After the first season, I got to host a show on 1Magic titled Ingane Yam'. That was the first TV show I got to host, and it went big. Additionally, I started getting offers to be an actress. I was an actress on SkeemSaam in 2012/2013 but after that, I got involved in so many things that I paused being an actress until recently when I got to be on Adulting, Magaeng, and Entangled. I've now revived the actress in me.

What would you never do or compromise on for a man and why?
I will never compromise my personality because that would be to bury myself. A lot of men would say I have a big personality, but I don't work like that. If you're going to be a man, be a man and handle my big personality. I'm not Oros; I won't dilute myself.
What are your pet peeves in friendships and how annoyed have you gotten over these?
Double-sided people. One day they are with you and the next they are with other people. I don't want to gatekeep people but watch out for such people because you don't know where their loyalty lies. And, the minute your loyalty is not with me, what about trust? When I see that in friendships, I leave because I don't want to be wondering if you're friends with my enemies and what you would tell them about me.
As a radio personality, what is on the radar for the new radio year?
I'm the host of Thobela FM's breakfast show, Ditla le Meso, so tune in from Monday to Friday, 6:00 to 9:00 for a bit of joy to start your day!

'Bachelor in Paradise': 4 Men Go Home, 1 Date Is Canceled by a Monsoon and Love Triangles Form in Season 10 Premiere
Bachelor in Paradise season 10 premiered on Monday, July 7, welcoming 16 Bachelor Nation alums to Costa Rica The group immediately formed connections leading up to the first rose ceremony on night three, where the women held the power The episode ultimately ended with four men going home, one date being canceled due to a monsoon and several love triangles being developedThe season 10 cast of Bachelor in Paradise is wasting no time in their search for love. The July 7 premiere began with a teaser of the show's return, featuring engagement rings, champagne, tears and steamy makeouts. Then, host Jesse Palmer declared that the season will be "unlike anything you've ever seen before.' Spencer Conley, who appeared on Jenn Tran's season of The Bachelorette, was the first to arrive at the new destination in Costa Rica, and Alexe Godin from Grant Ellis' latest season of The Bachelor was close behind. As they explored the resort, which features a private pool, bar and air-conditioned rooms (a franchise-first), they were joined by Lexi Young from Joey Graziadei's season, along with Jeremy Simon and Jonathan Johnson from Jenn's and Bailey Brown from Grant's. The next to arrive was Jess Edwards, also from Joey's season, and she couldn't have been happier when Spencer volunteered to give her a tour of the beachfront hotel. 'I did have my sights set on him coming into this,' she revealed in her confessional. 'He's definitely at the tippy-top of my list.' He agreed, saying, 'When Jess walked in, we just clicked.' The next to make their entrances were Kyle Howard, who admittedly was easy to miss during his two weeks on Katie Thurston's season of The Bachelorette, and one of Grant's final three Zoe McGrady. They were followed by The Bachelorette season 21 alums Ricky Marinez, Brian Autz and Hakeem Moulton. Finally, Kat Izzo and Justin Glaze, both former Bachelor in Paradise participants, rounded out the arrivals for the day. 'All of us are here to help you find someone who you can spend the rest of your lives with,' Jesse said as he and Bachelor Nation favorites Hannah Brown and Wells Adams welcomed the group. 'This time around, in order to help increase the chances of that happening, we're gonna be introducing a few new exercises and chemistry tests to help you find the perfect person for you.' 'In the end, we hope to offer our best and our strongest couples a life-changing opportunity,' he then teased, without providing further details. The night took a turn when heavy rain started to pose a safety risk and everyone was told to go back to their rooms — although that didn't stop Jess and Spencer from having the first kiss of the season before parting ways. Justin, however, wasn't as lucky. He was given the first date card, which he hoped to offer up to Lexi, but they were forced to postpone it. 'I'm starting to think I'm just bad luck,' he said, disappointed. The next day, Dale Moss joined the crew, and as Jonathan said, their excitement to see him was 'through the roof.' 'He is someone I think almost all of us had our eye on,' Zoe admitted. When it came time for him to choose someone to take on a boat date that day, Dale picked Kat, which the other ladies weren't too happy about. 'She very much was scheming for that one,' Zoe said under her breath. While the pair enjoyed berries and a makeout session at sea, the rest of the group played a game where each person indicated whether they liked or disliked the traits listed on faceless cardboard cutouts of each other before learning whose they rated. When Ricky realized he didn't get any 'likes,' he quipped that he'd rather have 'red flags' than be 'vanilla,' comparing himself to Hakeem. A screaming match quickly broke out between the two, which Ricky worried would cause Alexe to change her mind about him. Thankfully, Jesse interrupted the chaos to introduce the next arrival: Sam McKinney, a controversial member of Jenn's season. As a newbie, he got a date card, and when he offered it to Jess, Spencer became jealous. As Jess prepared to hand out her rose, she struggled to see which of her two connections was stronger. 'I definitely did not think that I would be in this situation this early on,' she confessed. 'My biggest fear coming into this is: love triangle. It's bound to happen, but I did not want it to be me. And here I am with these two great guys, and I'm like, what do I do?' Meanwhile, Justin's eagerness to close things off with Lexi so quickly made her uneasy, especially because he had recently broken up with ex-girlfriend Susie Evans. 'We talked about it a little on the date today and he said they don't talk anymore but they're still friends,' she confided in Jess and Spencer. 'But the last guy that I dated, had just gotten out of a really long relationship and it was an ongoing issue because they were still in communication and I just didn't feel chosen. I don't ever want to be a second choice.' Bailey was also questioning her decision after building a good emotional connection with Kyle, but a stronger physical one with Jeremy. Ultimately, they all went with their guts, and the remaining couples were Jess and Spencer, Lexi and Justin, Bailey and Jeremy, Alexe and Jonathan, Kat and Dale, and Zoe and Brian. This left Hakeem, Kyle, Ricky and Sam packing their bags. Pamela Anderson says her decision to go makeup-free wasn't about being pretty. 'It was "I'm brave."'
Pamela Anderson is opening up about her decision to go makeup-free, as well as her approach to self confidence. The Canadian-born actress recently appeared on the "How To Fail" podcast, where she spoke candidly about reclaiming beauty on her own terms. 'It wasn't about 'look at me, I'm pretty,'' she said about her decision to go makeup-free. 'It was 'I'm brave.'' Her words echo a deeper message — not just about going makeup-free, but about reclaiming identity, aging with authenticity and self acceptance. Read on for the highlights from Anderson's unfiltered interview. Anderson, 58, has made headlines over the past couple of years for choosing a no-makeup approach to life — whether she's doing a photoshoot, walking a red carpet or hanging out at home. "Everybody was so horrified when I decided I didn't need a glam team for certain events," she said. "When I was in Paris, I thought, 'Who's looking at me?' Is anyone going to fall over backwards if I'm not wearing makeup? And that's where it started, at Paris Fashion Week." "And it just sent everybody scrambling around me thinking, 'No, this is not what people do.' And I said, 'Well, that even gives me more reason to do it,'" she explained. "Not that it was world peace or anything, but it was just me challenging myself, thinking, why am I sitting in a makeup chair for three hours when I'm not trying to be the prettiest girl in the room?" she continued. Anderson said she began to feel that makeup "really didn't do any favours." "If I put makeup on, I like a lot of glam, a big glamorous look like in a photo shoot or something very fun," she said. "How I personally like myself is just completely barefaced." "Me not wearing makeup and me being at this age, coming into this part of my career, I felt like it was important for me, in my personal life, to be more natural," she said. Anderson also said she's always been a bit of a "rebel," and wants to continue to challenge beauty standards. "I get people coming up to me on the street, at the grocery store, on the plane, and really loving this choice that I've made," she said. "I feel like it is resonating and it's something I want to explore deeper, even for myself, because I'm a rebel. I'm always challenging things," she continued. "I'm always doing the opposite of what people tell me to do." I'll see a picture of myself where I go, 'Oh, I look terrible.' And then I have to go, 'No, that's how I look.' And that's Anderson "We have these generational habits, the way that we're brought up even, and these things stick in our head," she continued. "So, I want to break free of that." "I feel like this is a little bit of a rebel move, to be who you want to be. Like what is beauty? Beauty is subjective, and we don't have to look like the covers of magazines." That said, she said even she can struggle with her self image. "I have to catch myself, too," she says. "I'll see a picture of myself where I go, 'Oh, I look terrible." And then I have to go, 'No, that's how I look.' And that's OK." "The Last Showgirl" star also spoke about the link between social media and women's mental health. "I've seen how this social media craze has really created a bit of depression in women," she said. "How they don't look like their Instagram photos when they look in the mirror." "I think people have to realize that all these images are retouched or have filters on them, and people can make themselves look any way they want. So, it's not a good resource for body image," she said. She added that every generation "has its challenges with body image and with beauty and with what we think is trendy or looks good." "We try and keep up with the Joneses, or we do what everybody else is doing." Anderson said that her current approach to beauty is accepting herself as she is. "We're not trying to chase youth," she said. "That's just been fed to us, to look as young as we possibly can, as long as we can." "I have my own insecurities and things I catch myself [doing], but I think that's the challenge," she added. "To embrace those parts of yourself, even the ones you don't necessarily like a lot." As for Anderson's advice to anyone struggling with their own body image? The "Baywatch" actress, who recently partnered with Dove for their Self Esteem Project, says that we're our "own worst critics." Nobody else is judging you," Anderson said. "I feel like that was my 'aha!' moment," she continued. "When I realized they're more worried about the way they look, and that I can go to the beach in a bathing suit. I can look at myself in a less-critical way." "Body image should be based on, 'how do you feel healthiest?' and I think that's the most beautiful."
