Pamela Anderson says her decision to go makeup-free wasn't about being pretty. 'It was "I'm brave."'

Pamela Anderson is opening up about her decision to go makeup-free, as well as her approach to self confidence. The Canadian-born actress recently appeared on the "How To Fail" podcast, where she spoke candidly about reclaiming beauty on her own terms.
'It wasn't about 'look at me, I'm pretty,'' she said about her decision to go makeup-free. 'It was 'I'm brave.'' Her words echo a deeper message — not just about going makeup-free, but about reclaiming identity, aging with authenticity and self acceptance.
Read on for the highlights from Anderson's unfiltered interview.
Anderson, 58, has made headlines over the past couple of years for choosing a no-makeup approach to life — whether she's doing a photoshoot, walking a red carpet or hanging out at home.
"Everybody was so horrified when I decided I didn't need a glam team for certain events," she said. "When I was in Paris, I thought, 'Who's looking at me?' Is anyone going to fall over backwards if I'm not wearing makeup? And that's where it started, at Paris Fashion Week."
"And it just sent everybody scrambling around me thinking, 'No, this is not what people do.' And I said, 'Well, that even gives me more reason to do it,'" she explained.
"Not that it was world peace or anything, but it was just me challenging myself, thinking, why am I sitting in a makeup chair for three hours when I'm not trying to be the prettiest girl in the room?" she continued.
Anderson said she began to feel that makeup "really didn't do any favours."
"If I put makeup on, I like a lot of glam, a big glamorous look like in a photo shoot or something very fun," she said. "How I personally like myself is just completely barefaced."
"Me not wearing makeup and me being at this age, coming into this part of my career, I felt like it was important for me, in my personal life, to be more natural," she said.
Anderson also said she's always been a bit of a "rebel," and wants to continue to challenge beauty standards.
"I get people coming up to me on the street, at the grocery store, on the plane, and really loving this choice that I've made," she said.
"I feel like it is resonating and it's something I want to explore deeper, even for myself, because I'm a rebel. I'm always challenging things," she continued. "I'm always doing the opposite of what people tell me to do."
I'll see a picture of myself where I go, 'Oh, I look terrible.' And then I have to go, 'No, that's how I look.' And that's OK.Pamela Anderson
"We have these generational habits, the way that we're brought up even, and these things stick in our head," she continued. "So, I want to break free of that."
"I feel like this is a little bit of a rebel move, to be who you want to be. Like what is beauty? Beauty is subjective, and we don't have to look like the covers of magazines."
That said, she said even she can struggle with her self image.
"I have to catch myself, too," she says. "I'll see a picture of myself where I go, 'Oh, I look terrible." And then I have to go, 'No, that's how I look.' And that's OK."
"The Last Showgirl" star also spoke about the link between social media and women's mental health.
"I've seen how this social media craze has really created a bit of depression in women," she said. "How they don't look like their Instagram photos when they look in the mirror."
"I think people have to realize that all these images are retouched or have filters on them, and people can make themselves look any way they want. So, it's not a good resource for body image," she said.
She added that every generation "has its challenges with body image and with beauty and with what we think is trendy or looks good."
"We try and keep up with the Joneses, or we do what everybody else is doing."
Anderson said that her current approach to beauty is accepting herself as she is.
"We're not trying to chase youth," she said. "That's just been fed to us, to look as young as we possibly can, as long as we can."
"I have my own insecurities and things I catch myself [doing], but I think that's the challenge," she added. "To embrace those parts of yourself, even the ones you don't necessarily like a lot."
As for Anderson's advice to anyone struggling with their own body image? The "Baywatch" actress, who recently partnered with Dove for their Self Esteem Project, says that we're our "own worst critics."
Nobody else is judging you," Anderson said.
"I feel like that was my 'aha!' moment," she continued. "When I realized they're more worried about the way they look, and that I can go to the beach in a bathing suit. I can look at myself in a less-critical way."
"Body image should be based on, 'how do you feel healthiest?' and I think that's the most beautiful."

Cardi B Removes Stefon Diggs Photos from Her Instagram Page as She Steps Out Solo for Paris Fashion Week

All photos of Stefon Diggs are no longer publicly visible on Cardi B's Instagram page The couple went Instagram official last month This week, Cardi stepped out solo to Paris Fashion WeekWhat is Cardi B and Stefon Diggs' relationship status? More than a month after the couple went Instagram official with some PDA-filled photos on Cardi's page, all images featuring the NFL star are no longer publicly visible on the "Outside" rapper's profile on the social media platform. Reps for Cardi did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment. It's unclear exactly when the photos were deleted or hidden from Cardi's Instagram grid, but the move comes as she stepped out solo to Paris Fashion Week for the Schiaparelli show at Petit Palais. The Grammy winner attended the fashion show in an eye-catching ensemble featuring an extravagant dress complete with a U-shaped neckline and fringe — as she held a live crow in a reference to the cover of her upcoming album, Am I the Drama? Before attending the fashion show, Cardi shared a selfie-style video to her Instagram Stories and expressed feeling "sooo tired." Rumors of a romance between Cardi and Diggs began circulating in October 2024, and TMZ later reported they spent time together in February 2025. The pair continued fueling dating rumors as they stepped out to various events over the following few months. They went Instagram official on June 1 with a post featuring footage from a yacht outing, including a photo of them embracing and a video of Diggs appearing to receive a lap dance from Cardi. Later that same month, she proudly rocked a manicure that featured Diggs' name, and the couple traveled to France to stay in a "real castle" rented by the football star. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Cardi — who dropped her new single "Outside" last month — spoke about her plans for the summer and seemed to coyly mention her relationship. "Outside I'm going to be shaking ass, drinking Whipshots. I'm gonna be outside, but I'm gonna be outside with a partner, so that's what I'm gonna say," she said during an event to launch the new chocolate flavor of Whipshots at Serendipity 3 in N.Y.C. Americans Are Getting Emotional Over Quebec's Latest Tourism Ad Aimed At Them

Things haven't been so hot between the US and Canada since Donald Trump took office. I mean, you have Canadians booing the American National Anthem. Wild times! Sooo, to combat some of that animosity, the Quebec Tourism council released this ad directly aimed at Americans, and it's blowing up on TikTok: It's making people, specifically Americans (duh), emotional. "As an American...I need that hug tbh," one person said. A bunch of people were surprised by the ending. "I thought we were going to get made fun of, I'm crying instead." Other people were shocked that the receptionist didn't go off on the American for NOT speaking French. "I have to admit, I thought she would freak out on him because he doesn't speak French. I wasn't expecting the happy ending." Then you have people mocking Americans for always being overly specific about exactly where they're from. "Except a real American would tell you the name of their town with a population of 25k and expect you to know it." And finalllly, you have the people wishing they could have a Canadian hug right now. "Hey. As an American, I wanna hug a Canadian rn bro I'm scared."

Pamela Anderson says she has a ‘friend forever' in ‘Naked Gun' costar Liam Neeson

Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson are not just costars, they are also friends forever. The two actors grew close while filming the upcoming 'Naked Gun' reboot, Anderson said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly published Tuesday. 'I think I have a friend forever in Liam, and we definitely have a connection that is very sincere, very loving, and he's a good guy,' she said. Anderson went on to gush about Neeson's work as a veteran actor, characterizing him as a 'true artist.' 'He comes from theater and 'Schindler's List' and has done over a hundred films. And I did things inside out and backwards, came from television, and then my personal life kind of overshadowed my professional life,' she said. 'It is funny: We all come to this place in different ways, but to be able to share this experience with him is very meaningful and such an honor.' Neeson shares the same admiration for Anderson, made clear when he told People magazine in an interview last year that he is 'madly in love with her.' 'She's just terrific to work with,' he said. 'I can't compliment her enough, I'll be honest with you. No huge ego. She just comes in to do the work. She's funny and so easy to work with. She's going to be terrific in the film.' The two actors costar in the upcoming reboot of the satirical comedy 'Naked Gun,' with Neeson playing the role of Frank Drebin Jr., originated by the late Leslie Nielsen. Anderson plays Beth, who was previously played by Priscilla Presley. Neilson and Presley starred alongside each other in three 'Naked Gun' films in 1988, 1991 and 1994. The new 'Naked Gun' will be in theaters on August 1.
