Holidaymaker 'stunned' after watching tourists scramble for sunbeds at Majorca hotel
A holidaymaker has been left stunned witnessing dozens of tourists at her Majorca hotel race for sunbeds - because she insists she gets one every morning without trouble.
Clare Wright, 44, said she "has a little giggle" at the guests who she watches scramble for the loungers every morning.
Speaking on TikTok, she said the battle for prime spots at Protur Playa Cala Millor Hotel in Majorca, Spain, "like something out of The Hunger Games."
She said: "People gathered in the cafe area from about 8:30am waiting for a little chain that the staff had put around a small section of the pool to be removed. As the staff finished the cleaning and walked towards the chain, everybody stood.... and as it was lifted, the games began."
In a clip shared by Clare online, tourists can be seen dashing across the pool deck the second the gates open. Holding towels and sunbathing gear, they had been queuing for half an hour.
Clare recorded the clip during her five-day holiday the four-star hotel, which is on the east of the Spanish island.
Speaking after filming the video, Clare, from Nottingham, added: "I watched from my balcony, having a little giggle, went to breakfast and then to the pool at about 10am to find a sun bed without any problem at all.
"The night before, the entertainment manager said, 'No leaving towels down, the staff clean the pool area in the morning and no running as the floor will be wet and slippy, we are all adults here.'
"I thought, 'What? People won't be running to get a sun bed here.' So I decided to watch and film it... I watched from my balcony, having a little giggle, went to breakfast and then to the pool at about 10am to find a sun bed without any problem at all."
Clare said the race was pointless as there were enough sun loungers for everyone. The tourist continued: "There really was no need. It was such a lovely hotel and we had an amazing time there. It wasn't the hotel's fault - they had enough beds for everyone."
The footage racked up more than 57,000 views and commentors described the guests as "sad".
One said: "God, how said if that's what holidays are about." Another person added: "I hate this. I love hotels that remove stuff after 30 minutes if not in use." A third said: "That's just horrific. I'd never fight for a sun bed... Just come back from Majorca and in the hotel I was in, the pool opened at 10 no stress for a sun bed."

Angry mum leaves Butlin's after 'beds wet' and daughter had 'poo on hands'
Mum Jasmine took to TikTok to share her disappointment with the accommodation at the Skegness holiday park. Butlin's has apologised after a family checked in to a "grimy" and "damp" room which was "in need of a massive deep clean". Mum Jasmine took to TikTok to share her disappointment with the accommodation at the Skegness holiday park. Sharing clips of the filthy room with her 19,000 followers, she said: "I could make a 10-minute video on all of the issues in here but here's some of them." Jasmine, who went on to give a tour of the room, added: "Even walking up to the room I felt grimy. This is the Butlin's comfort room. This is my sign to not blindly book something hahaha." As reported by the Mirro r, she said they couldn't stand to sleep in the room for more than one night as she showed dirt throughout, including in the shower and the bin. In her voiceover, Jasmine said: "I was meant to book the apartment but I didn't realise. When I first walked in there and I saw there's only two rooms and one bathroom in the middle, I thought, 'Where's the rest of it?'. "I am going to emphasise that was not Butlin's fault at all though to be fair - it was my fault. So anyway I don't know if the videos can do it justice because the smell when I walked in there was just absolutely wild. "This isn't the cleaner's fault or anything like that - it's the turnover rate is the issue. These rooms need massive deep cleans because a quick once over is not going to help." "I didn't even want to shower in there - in fact, I didn't shower in there. I ended up going to the swimming pools to have a shower. "We spent one night in this room and the beds were so damp - my daughter even woke up asking why the bed was so wet. "I can't explain the smell. I know I keep saying it but it was horrific. The mould was over the windows, there were cobwebs up the walls... This was a dead bug on our bed and then our daughter got poo on her hand walking out and I was like 'nah, that's it, 100% I am going.' "The stuff kids can do here is amazing though - I will not fault Butlins for that. It is just a shame about the room." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! A spokesperson for the holiday park said: 'We're sorry and disappointed to see the cleanliness issues the guest experienced with their accommodation. This certainly isn't the high standards we expect our guests to receive when they holiday with us. We carried out a full reclean and offered a gesture of goodwill which was accepted.' Others shared similar experiences in the comments, with one person writing: "This looks so much cleaner than our room [laughing emoji]." Another person said: "Skegness I had the most horrible room haven't ever gone back. It was a hot year window broke couldn't open it, bedding didn't get changed stuff left under the bed etc was horrible." However, another visitor insisted they had only ever had positive experiences at the holiday park, writing: "Which Butlin's is this?? We've always been to skeg one and never had a room like this. That's grim."

Warning to Brit tourists planning all-inclusive holidays to Spain
Holidaymakers heading to tourist hotspots in Spain have been warned by local police of a spike in robberies and thefts with criminals targeting all-inclusive hotels Brits heading on holiday to Spain this summer have been warned by police about a crime wave hitting all-inclusive hotels. Police have told tourists to be on their guard after a sudden increase in thefts and robberies from individuals and gangs who are targeting these types of locations. Authorities say that although all-inclusive hotels provide a wide variety of services but "safety is not usually among them." Through a video published on its official TikTok account, the Spanish National Police have issued an alert that highlights "a common and dangerous practice among tourists": neglecting their belongings while enjoying the pools and beaches of hotels. The message aims to raise awareness, without alarming, about the need to exercise extreme personal vigilance. "It is essential to remember that travelling to an all-inclusive hotel does not expressly guarantee protection for your personal effects in common areas such as the pool. Therefore, although it is a period to relax and disconnect, it is advisable to stay in control and take measures to avoid unpleasant situations that can spoil your holiday," say the police. All-inclusive holidays are so popular that areas such as swimming pools, bars and beaches within the hotel complex are frequented by a large number of people, making it easy for thieves to strike. Police say holidaymakers leave their bags unattended whilst they swim or enjoy a drink. They are urging tourists not to fully rely on the presence of private security, as there is not always active and constant surveillance in all areas of the hotel is not guaranteed. Thefts tend to increase especially on summer holidays in destinations such as the Costa del Sol, the Costa Blanca, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands, where the influx of tourists skyrockets and security measures can be overwhelmed on certain occasions. Police say it is best to always carry your backpack or bag in front of your body, which allows you to view and control its contents at all times. Avoiding leaving personal belongings on the sand or in hammocks unsupervised is a basic tip but essential to prevent theft. Likewise, National Police say keep your possessions to a minimum when you go to the pool or beach. Take only what is necessary for bathing and staying in those areas. Valuables such as watches, jewellery or electronic devices should be kept in the hotel room, preferably in safes if available. In addition, when walking or moving through crowded areas near the accommodation, always keep your wallet, backpack or bag in a frontal position and under continuous surveillance. "Pickpockets take advantage of crowds to act quickly and discreetly, so a preventive attitude can make the difference between enjoying the trip or regretting material losses," they stress.
