The Weeknd Joins Taylor Swift, Madonna And Drake With A New Hit
Throughout the past decade-plus, The Weeknd has evolved from an underground R&B favorite to a true global pop icon. He's spent years racking up hit after hit and crossing genre lines. This week, the Canadian superstar is back in familiar territory — but this latest success isn't a solo effort.
He joins forces with Playboi Carti on a brand new track that launches high, earning both artists a major win. For one of them, it's the continuation of a stellar streak, while for the other, it's a milestone moment that places him into an elite group of superstars.
Playboi Carti will dominate the Hot 100 this coming week (once Billboard refreshes its charts tomorrow, March 25) with two brand new smashes debuting inside the top 10 – and he may fill as many as 30 spaces with new releases.
The bigger of the pair inside the top 10, 'Evil J0rdan,' narrowly misses out on ruling the tally, starting at No. 2. Just behind it, 'Rather Lie' opens at No. 4. That latter track credits both Carti and The Weeknd, who adds another hit to his already-packed discography.
With 'Rather Lie,' The Weeknd officially claims his twentieth top 10 hit on the Hot 100. That figure places him among a select group of musical acts who have reached the same tier of chart success. According to Billboard, he is now the twenty-seventh artist in history to reach that mark.
While The Weeknd's 20 top 10 hits are impressive, he still has a long way to go to match some of the all-time leaders. Fellow Canadian superstar Drake currently stands far ahead of the competition with 80 appearances inside the top 10 on the Hot 100.
Taylor Swift follows with 59, and Madonna isn't far behind with 38. The list of artists who've landed at least 20 top 10 hits also includes global legends like The Beatles, Rihanna, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Mariah Carey, to name just a few.
This new top 10 hit follows closely behind The Weeknd's recent album Hurry Up Tomorrow, which debuted atop the Billboard 200 earlier this year. That release produced a sole top 10 on the Hot 100, and — just like his latest success — it was also a team effort with Carti.
Their previous collaboration, 'Timeless,' soared to No. 3, becoming the biggest cut from Hurry Up Tomorrow. Another focus track, 'Cry For Me,' came close to hitting the top 10, but ultimately stopped just short, peaking at No. 12.
The Weeknd's 20 top 10 hits include seven that went all the way to No. 1. His roundup of wins span a variety of styles and collaborations, and he's earned his success through a mix of solo smashes, superstar pairings, and featured appearances. Throughout his career, The Weeknd has not only conquered the pop world, but has also earned wins in electronic, R&B, and hip-hop spaces.

‘Desperate' and ‘irrelevant': White House slams ‘South Park' Trump parody
South Park's season premiere mocks Donald Trump with controversial AI-generated scenes, drawing sharp criticism from the White House. The White House denounced the show, calling it 'desperate' and 'irrelevant' despite its 27 years on air. The episode comes as Paramount secures a $1.5 billion streaming deal and navigates merger talks with Skydance. The White House lashed out at the creators of South Park on Thursday after the bawdy satire skewered Donald Trump in an episode featuring an AI-generated version of the US president crawling naked through a desert. In a no-holds-barred season premiere, the animated Trump character is also seen begging Satan for sex, only to be rebuffed - in part because his penis is too small. The White House was not amused. Spokesperson Taylor Rogers said: This show hasn't been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention. 'President Trump has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in our country's history - and no fourth-rate show can derail President Trump's hot streak.' The adult animated series, which frequently touches on hot-button issues in American life, is now in its 27th season and remains one of the world's most valuable TV shows. The season premiere begins with the foul-mouthed Cartman appalled that NPR has been taken off the air by the president, while Randy, a parent, is disturbed by the presence of Jesus in public elementary school. Complaints to the fictional White House receive only a threat from Trump to sue the mountain town of South Park for billions of dollars. Meanwhile, animated Trump is threatening to bomb Canada 'like I did Iraq.' 'I thought you just bombed Iran,' the Canadian prime minister replies. 'Iran, Iraq, what the hell's the difference?' replies Trump. The episode, which sees the fictional Trump ride roughshod over many aspects of American life, ends after the town of South Park makes a financial deal with the president, including an agreement to make public service announcements. The AI-generated short that follows - ostensibly one of those announcements - shows an overweight Trump staggering through a desert as a narrator casts him as a latter-day Jesus. The short ends with a naked Trump as the narrator says: 'Trump. His penis is teeny-tiny, but his love for us is large.' Watch it here At a Thursday panel at pop culture event Comic-Con in San Diego, South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker revealed internal discussions over depicting a fake presidential phallus. 'They're like, 'Okay, but we're gonna blur the penis.' And I'm like, 'No, you're not going to blur the penis,'' Parker told the audience. After 'a whole conversation with a lot of grown-up people for about four ... days,' Parker said they decided to add eyes to it to avoid it being blurred. View this post on Instagram A post shared by South Park (@southpark) Merger The episode aired days after creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone reportedly penned a $1.5 billion streaming deal with Paramount that gives the company global rights. The deal comes at a sensitive time for Paramount, which is trying to secure government approval for a multi-billion-dollar merger with entertainment company Skydance. The CBS parent caused a furore this month when it agreed to pay $16 million to settle a lawsuit Trump had brought over an interview the storied 60 Minutes current affairs program aired with Kamala Harris ahead of last November's election. The payment was criticised by Democrats as little more than a bribe to help smooth the merger, with Paramount initially dismissing Trump's lawsuit as meritless. Last week, CBS sparked fury after it cancelled The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, whose host is a pointed critic of the president. The network insisted it was a financial decision, but opponents have painted the move as the latest example of American institutions bowing to Trump.

Sabrina Carpenter Reveals ‘Man's Best Friend' Tracklist via Golden Retriever
Sabrina Carpenter has taken the notion of 'man's best friend' quite literally in the weeks leading up to her seventh studio album, Man's Best Friend. Set for release on Aug. 29 via Island Records, the LP's rollout has been anything but ordinary: Carpenter enlisted a golden retriever puppy and a pair of lucky fans to unveil her tracklist, two songs at a time, in a series of Instagram and Twitter posts that combined star power with canine cuteness. In her caption she wrote, 'track #12 is 'Goodbye' but mariah is helping us say hello to our tracklist reveal.' Two days later, Carpenter returned to the pup brigade to share track 11 — 'House Tour' — featuring fan Neriah in a similar snapshot, captioned 'neriah & a golden = home sweet home. track #11 is 'House Tour.'' Both posts drew hundreds of thousands of likes, with fans applauding the innovative, heartwarming approach. Carpenter then took to X to amplify the moment, reposting excited reactions from @overdosedontun ('omggg sabrina asked me to reveal track 11 'House Tour' from Man's Best Friend !!!') and urging fellow fans to rally: 'Track 11 stans rise.' Beyond the puppy reveals, Carpenter has maintained momentum for Man's Best Friend by leaning into playful fan interaction and capitalizing on her comedic timing — qualities that have earned her more than 5 million Instagram followers and built genuine community around her music. The forthcoming album follows 2024's Short n' Sweet and arrives amid Carpenter's latest lead single, 'Manchild,' released on June 5. Man's Best Friend will drop almost exactly a year after Carpenter released breakthrough album Short n' Sweet, which spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. So far, fans have gotten to hear only one song from the new record — 'Manchild,' which dropped in June and debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100, marking Carpenter's second-ever No. 1 song. In keeping with the album's canine theme, Man's Best Friend is available to preorder in multiple formats, including a Jacob Rochester–painted picture disc that depicts Carpenter in a surreal tableau beside a suited figure.
