Suvendu Adhikari stresses on need for door-to-door review to identify Rohingya voters in Bengal
'In the Special Intensive Review conducted by the Election Commission of India in Bihar, which is going for polls this year, a few lakh illegal Rohingya infiltrators have been identified. Similarly, several illegal Rohingya infiltrators have entered West Bengal after illegally crossing the state's borders with Nepal and Bangladesh. There is a need for an urgent door-to-door review to identify these Rohingya voters,' LoP Adhikari told media persons on Wednesday.
He led a BJP delegation to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (West Bengal), Manoj Kumar Agarwal and raised the same demand there.
While he was accusing the state administration and Trinamool Congress of facilitating illegal Rohingya infiltrators in getting their names enlisted in the voters' list of West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was addressing a gathering in another part of Kolkata.
At the end of the rally, she protested against the alleged and selective harassment of Bengali-speaking people in some other states after branding them as illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators.
Ridiculing the protest rally by Trinamool Congress, the LoP said that the main intention behind the protest led by the Chief Minister was to protect these illegal Rohingya voters in West Bengal.
'Mamata Banerjee had sent her party's Lok Sabha member from Krishnanagar constituency to the Supreme Court with the same intention. The CM is claiming that preventing illegal infiltration is the duty of the BSF. My question is why is the West Bengal government reluctant to provide land to the force,' he questioned.
He also said that the maximum increase in the number of voters in West Bengal, as per the last revision, had been in the nine districts that share International Borders with Bangladesh.
'If the names of 30 lakh false voters have been deleted from the voters' list of Bihar, in case of West Bengal, the number will be nothing less than 90 lakh,' he claimed.
He also claimed that the demography of certain regions in West Bengal changed following this massive illegal immigration.

West Bengal police launches helpline for migrant workers facing harassment in other States
Amidst reports of targeting of migrant workers from West Bengal in BJP-ruled States, the West Bengal police have started a helpline number for workers to seek assistance. Responding to the development, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari shared his email-id and added that any citizen of the State who is 'harassed by Mamata's police' may reach out to him. The West Bengal police in a social media post stated that they are receiving 'reports from various sources that many people from Bengal, who have gone to work in other states, are facing various problems and instances of harassment'. 'If any citizen from Bengal working in another state faces any kind of trouble, we appeal to them or their family members to immediately inform their local police station. You may also contact the district control room,' the police said in the post. The West Bengal police in the social media post said that the helpline number is 9147727666 which will be available only on WhatsApp and the people can send a message there with the necessary information, including your name and address. 'Each piece of information will be verified, and we will coordinate with the concerned state authorities to take the necessary action,' the police said. According to West Bengal Chief Minister about 1000 migrants from the State were detained in other States. There have been reports of detention of migrant workers in BJP ruled states on allegations of being Bangladeshi nationals. Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari called the post by West Bengal police politically motivated to mislead Bengalis residing in various parts of India for work, so that they become alarmed and confused. TMC MP Alleges Centre's tea garden creches in north Bengal are 'non-functional, unfit even for animals'
Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Ritabrata Banerjee has accused that despite claims of Union Government, the creches in tea gardens run by the Centre in north Bengal are non-functional. Mr Banerjee had posed an unstarred question at Rajya Sabha on July 25 (Friday) to the Minister of Heavy Industries regarding the issue. 'Whether it is a fact that there are no operating Creche houses in Karbala, New Dooars, Banarhat and Choonabhutti tea gardens of Andrew Yule group,' he asked. In response, the Minister of Heavy Industries, Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma gave a list of five creches that are functioning in these tea gardens. Notably, these tea gardens are not directly Central Government owned, but managed by Andrew Yule and Company, which is a public sector enterprise owned by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India. After the Ministry's response came in, Mr Banerjee issued an official statement and said that before the Monsoon Session of the Parliament begun, they had conducted a survey among the tea gardens workers of north Bengal, among many problems, non-functional creches were sighted as one of the major problems by the workers. 'Since Saturday morning our Trinamool Cha Bagan Shramik Union (TMC Tea Garden Workers Union) members have individually visited these creches and none of them are functioning. We made videos and taken photos. How did they claim these to be operating?' The videos which were shared widely show that houses which are known as the creche are mostly closed or in dilapidated condition. Mr Banerjee accused that the creches which the government has called an 'operating creche' is not even suitable for 'animals, let alone humans.' He said that the creches mentioned are better suited as 'cattle sheds.' On the other hand, the MP also highlighted that the West Bengal government and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have already decided to make creches for the tea garden workers and the ease of their children. 'We can also make creches in the four tea estates of the union government, but we would need their No Objection Certificate,' Mr Banerjee added. Mr Banerjee then went to shed light on the other plights of the tea garden workers including lack of a provident fund and irregular wage payments, and more.

Wife of BNP man who lived illegally in India for 30 yrs held
Bagdah (N 24 Parganas): A BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) worker's wife was arrested on Saturday at Bagdah in North 24 Parganas for allegedly aiding and harbouring her Bangladeshi husband, who had been living illegally in India for nearly 30 years using forged documents. Police sources said BNP worker Rezaul Mondal had illegally entered India three decades ago and married Sherful Mondal of Bagi village in Bagdah. To obtain Indian identity documents, he allegedly showed his mother-in-law as his mother. There are also allegations that Rezaul cast votes in India. Police sources said Rezaul was from Jhinaidah village in Bangladesh. Following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina govt, Rezaul returned to Bangladesh a few months ago, police said. "The matter came to light during an investigation after Rezaul's son Firoz eloped with a girl. Police found both Rezaul and his son were Bangladeshi nationals," said a senior officer of Bongaon District Police.
