BBC Breakfast star Nina Warhurst has made her return to the show after a heartbreaking family death
BBC Breakfast presenter Nina Warhurst has returned to the programme after her father's passing.

The popular morning show was back on air on Sunday (August 3) with Ben Thompson and Nina presenting together once again.

It's been a tough period for Nina, who recently revealed that her father had passed away peacefully in a care home on July 2 after a prolonged struggle with dementia.

Sharing a touching black-and-white image of her hand clasped with her father's, she penned: "My Dad died on Wednesday night. From Sunday me, my Mum and sisters spent precious time with him around the clock....singing, crying, laughing, sharing memories. On his last day we had nursing home afternoon tea, chippy chips and wine together.

"He drifted away gently with me and Amy (Nina's sister) holding him and telling him to 'go head. We'll see you there soon.' And he did. I had my hand on his heart as the ripples softened and stopped.", reports the Express.
"A gentle end to a gentle life. So much love and laughter and sunshine across days I'll never forget. He is in my mind all the time now as we adjust to a world without him in it.

"I can't quite accept that's real yet. But we think it's really important for anyone going through this to know that the end can be peaceful and beautiful."
Supporters immediately flooded Nina with messages of comfort at the time. One viewer commented: "Oh my darling, this is such sad news. He seemed like a beautiful soul." Another said: "So sorry, dear Nina and family. You did him proud. Always."

However, a few weeks later and on Sunday, Nina was back on the famous red sofa on BBC Breakfast - and fans were more than chuffed to see her back. On X, one person penned: "Lovely to see Nina this morning."
Nina's father Chris, had been diagnosed with mixed dementia, which is Alzheimer's and vascular dementia, in 2022.In April this year, she spoke candidly about how his condition had affected her life.
The mum-of-three penned in an Instagram post: "I don't think I really became a proper grownup until we had to look after my Dad. Because of dementia I lost the home I could go to and still be a child. I lost one of those few pillars of people who I knew would love me, whatever. I thought that support was lost.
But now I know that just being with him is enough. I don't know if it's primal, hormonal, chemical, emotional….. but leaning my head on his chest and closing my eyes for a few minutes gives me the sense of safety and love that I've always had and that I still need."
BBC Breakfast airs everyday from 6am on BBC One.

BBC to air The Repair Shop despite rape charges against ex-host Jay Blades

Jay Blades, the former host of The Repair Shop, was charged with two counts of rape. West Mercia Police confirmed the charges against the star and said that a magistrates' court date is set for 13 August The Repair Shop will still be airing on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Tuesday evening after former host Jay Blades was charged with two counts of rape. West Mercia Police last night confirmed charges against the 55-year-old TV star, who stepped back from presenting The Repair Shop last year, and said that a magistrates' court date is set for Wednesday 13 August. "Jason Blades, 55, of Claverley in Shropshire, has been charged with two counts of rape," a spokesperson for the force told The Mirror this week. "He is due to appear at Telford magistrates' court on 13 August 2025." At 8pm tonight, The Repair Shop will air on both BBC One and iPlayer. However, Blades will not be featured on the episode since he stepped down last year. The experts tonight include Dominic Chinea, Suzie Fletcher, Will Kirk, Lucia Scalisi and Brenton West. The first person looking for an expert's help is a woman from Nottinghamshire with a weather-worn concrete portrait of her late father. The artwork was commissioned as a present to her late father by the women in need of Scalisi's help to restore it. Next up is a father-daughter duo, Ian and Issy, who bring in a rare and precious silver statuette of a paratrooper. It's revealed only 100 was ever made and the object belong to the father of Ian - a proud veteran of the parachute regiment. After surviving a dramatic shipwreck off the coast of Tenerife, the object was left ruined. Other people requiring the experts' help include Pari, who brings in a leather baby hammock from her childhood in Iran, and a battered flight case once owned by Trevor Bolder. Furniture restorer Jay Blades found fame on restoration programme The Repair Shop, which he started presenting in 2017. He left the programme last year. He also presented the BBC's Money For Nothing until 2020, and appeared on Celebrity Masterchef and Celebrity Bake Off as well as Comic Relief. The Mirror have reached out to the BBC for comment.

Yungblud goes shirtless while unwinding in a trucker cap during beach holiday as rocker celebrates his 28th birthday - after paying tribute to Ozzy Osbourne

Yungblud took to Instagram on Tuesday to share an array of holiday snaps as he celebrated his 28th birthday. In one photo, the English rocker, whose real name is Dominic Harrison, sported a Chrome Hearts camouflage trucker cap emblazoned with the words 'Chrome Hearts f**k Hollywood', as he appeared to relax on a boat out at sea. In another snap posted to his Instagram Story, the singer posed shirtless in just a pair of black swimming shorts, drink in hand, as he let his hair down on the beach. He captioned the birthday post: 'Made it through 27. thank f**k. here's to 28. love you all. i will forever.' The birthday snaps come after Yungblud shared a picture of the gift Ozzy Osbourne gave him before he died, hours after he gave a reading at the funeral at his home in Buckinghamshire. The singer had a very strong relationship with Ozzy, whom he first met in 2022, and it appeared that their relationship grew into an almost father-son type bond. Yungblud reportedly gave a touching reading at The Black Sabbath frontman's funeral last week, after his death aged 76 on July 22. Following the emotional day, the 28-year-old took to Instagram to share a close-up snap of the cross necklace Ozzy gifted him in 2022, during the filming of his The Funeral music video. Yungblud later returned the favour by gifting Ozzy a custom-made cross necklace before Black Sabbath's final show at Villa Park in Birmingham. He wrote in the caption: 'goodnight oz. your light will forever shine. I love you,' with fans noting in the caption that Ozzy has 'passed the torch of darkness on' to Yungblud. Yungblud previously revealed that the gift from Ozzy is the 'most precious thing' as he paid a 'truly heartbroken' tribute to the rocker. The singer performed Changes at Black Sabbath's final concert and has vowed to play it in Ozzy's memory going forward. Rock legend Ozzy was buried in the grounds of his own mansion in Buckinghamshire - as he had said he desired. His widow, Sharon, 72, and their children were joined by heavy rock royalty at the event at the family's home near Gerrards Cross, where he was being laid to rest near a lake at the heart of the sprawling 250-acre estate. Marilyn Manson led the stars arriving at Ozzy 's private funeral as the heavy metal icon was laid to rest. Following the funeral, Marilyn took to Instagram as he penned: 'Today we laid to rest a beloved friend. I am eternally grateful that you let me into your life Ozzy. 'Your inspiration and love will always be with me. Thank you Sharon and family for a reverent, beautiful ceremony. Your legacy lives on.' Guests also included Manson's wife, Lindsay Usich and Ozzy's lead guitarist, Zakk Wylde. And in true Ozzy fashion, stars arrived in gothic and heavy metal attire, with Rob Zombie donning skulls on a black scarf while Manson wore a long black jacket. A huge floral tribute in the grounds of the mansion spells out an affectionate tribute to the heavy metal legend, with the words, 'OZZY F***ING OSBOURNE', on the banks of the Osbourne lake.
