Coronation Street star Farrel Hegarty 'in tears' after 'baby joy' news gets hilariously out of hand
Coronation Street star Farrel Hegarty was left in tears of laughter after news of her reported 'baby joy' got hilariously out of hand. The actress has recently jetting off to join her partner in Australia, seemingly after wrapping up filming for the ITV soap after joining earlier this year in the role of Lou Michaelis. As viewers saw, Lou was quickly followed to Weatherfield by her husband Mick, played by Joe Layton, back in February and the pair have wasted no time in ruffling feathers as the street's new 'nightmare neighbours'. Get all the latest Corrie gossip and spoilers in our newsletter here And the there has been quite the drama for the new family, but more recently Mick has found himself behind bars for killing PC Craig Tinker in a shock drunken attack. Lou has since continued to live on the street, to some dismay of her fellow Weatherfield residents, but Corrie have already been left gutted by the news that she will soon leaving the cobbles, after it was confirmed both Farrel and Joe would be bowing out of the show this summer after just six months in their respective roles. A Corrie spokesperson previously said earlier this year: "Mick and Lou were brought into the show to cause chaos on the cobbles in the build up to a major storyline in the summer and they are already making their presence felt. "Joe and Farrel were contracted for a specific length of time, some characters come in for a long time and some like Mick and Lou are brought to pass through and leave a trail of destruction behind them. Both actors are still filming with the show and will be on screen until the summer." While it's been confirmed that Mick will stage a prison break and siege, it is not clear how Lou will eventually leave but Farrel is already busy as at the end of last month, she revealed that she was flying to Australia to reunite with her partner. It comes after she previously revealed that she almost moved out of the country before landing a dream role in Corrie. Farrel has since been sharing updates from the other side of the world but on Monday (July 7), she was left stumped by a social media post which suggested she was expecting a baby. She has been made aware of the post by a friend, which read: "Huge congrats to Farrel Hegarty (also known as Lou Michaelis) who recently met up with his partner in Australia… and now they've shared the most heartwarming update: they're going to have their first baby! Such a lovely new beginning beyond the soap opera world." Speaking about the post, Farrel said in her own video: "Um… um… my friend's just sent me this. HIS? Why am I a boy?" She continued: "Am I pregnant? The best thing is there's quite a lot of comments, and they're all like 'Congratulations'. Hashtag baby joy, hashtag actor's life. I am dying." As she wiped away tears from laughing so much, she added: "God, that's really brightened up my day that. What a beautiful article. Well written, lots of research put into it. Better start thinking of some baby names!" After sharing her reaction in a string of videos to her Instagram Story, she eventually made the post into a video for her main grid and said: "Made this into a post so I could be remembered of my babyjoy forever. I title this: 'My extremely unexpected baby news; A thread' #babyjoy #actorslife #corrie #fyp #coronationstreet #funny #comedy." And her followers were quick to respond. @alexrowe.95 said: "Hahaahahaha this is fantastic." @defonotlex commented: "i'm howling." @jnaplescampbell wrote: "I can't stop laughing at this." @ replied: "The Internet eh? What's it like!" @jamjunex posted: "You are hilarious … it's great seeing you crying with laughter!" @manveerlochab added: "You crack me up!! We have the same sense of humour!!! Many congrats!!!" Later, Farrel continued to see the funny side as she posted a video alongside partner Tricia Stone and cradling their friend, who had covered his head with his jacket, the soap and social media star quipped: "'Happy to announce… it's a boy!" Strictly star Dianne Buswell supported by fans after sharing moving tribute to her grandfather
Strictly Come Dancing's Dianne Buswell has been flooded with support after she announced the death of her grandfather on Sunday (6 July). The Australian ballroom dancer, who joined the BBC show in 2017, posted an emotional tribute to her 99-year-old 'pop' on Instagram. Buswell commented: 'Rest in peace pop. You were 99 years young. Thank you for all the stories and I just know you will be up there dancing with Nan already.' The 36-year-old won the show alongside the actor and comedian Chris McCausland in 2024, for which she was awarded with a Bafta earlier this year. The dancer's Instagram tribute shows a video of her dancing with her grandfather, after surprising him in Australia following the win. Recorded by the YouTuber Joe Sugg, Buswell's partner since 2018, the footage shows the two dancing together. Colleague Michelle Tsiakkas commented: "'I'm so sorry for your loss Di Sending you and your family all my love". Fellow Strictly star Nancy Xu posted: "D D Sending you all the love". Johannes Radebe, who has been a dancer on Strictly since 2018, wrote: 'So sorry Dianne Darling.' Spanish dancer and fellow Strictly star Gorka Marquez added: 'Sending love to you and the family.' In March, Buswell announced the death of her grandmother on social media, commenting: 'Rest in peace nan Love you very much. I'm so grateful I was home to say goodbye to such a special lady in my life. Now go be with pop he has been patiently waiting for you.' Buswell rose to fame in 2018 after she reached Strictly Come Dancing's final with the actor and model Bobby Jack Brazier, best known as Freddie Slater in EastEnders. Earlier this year, Buswell and McCausland announced that they are recording a podcast together. They shared the news on their respective Instagram grids, both posting a video of them having a laugh together and writing: 'Want more of this nonsense? Chris and Dianne are going to be hooking up for a weekly publicly available catch-up, otherwise known as a podcast.' Buswell previously revealed she had been told that she wouldn't make it far in the competition once she had been assigned McCausland. The pair had named their team 'Winning is not everything,' as McCausland admitted that he felt other couples were better. In a dedication to Buswell in his victory speech, McCausland said: 'We've lasted and lasted and Dianne has got so much out of me. She deserves this so much. Every day she's just positivity and belief and she's just one of the easiest people to be funny with than I've ever met.'
