Gujarat: Union Agriculture Minister Chouhan to meet farmers in Bardoli under 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan'
Surat (Gujarat) [India], June 12 (ANI): Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan arrived in Surat on Thursday to take part in several programmes, including a farmer interaction in Bardoli under the 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp' Abhiyan.
During his visit, he will interact with farmers in Bardoli, Gujarat, and discuss their practical problems. Before that, he will attend Kisan Chaupal to listen to them personally.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will also be present during the visit aimed at addressing farmers' concerns and promoting advanced, region-specific agricultural research.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Chouhan interacted with farmers during a 'Kisan Chaupal' event held in Tigipur village, Delhi, and emphasised his deep commitment to farmers, declaring that,'serving farmers was like the service of God to him.'
Speaking at the event, the Minister said that serving farmers was like the serving of God to him. He added that this was the reason he was going among farmers across the country and interacting with them.
The Minister highlighted that while the 'Developed Agriculture Resolution Campaign' drew close, it marked 'a new beginning' in India's agricultural policy direction.
The program was organised as part of the nationwide 'Developed Agriculture Sankalp Abhiyan', which concludes today.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, this 15-day campaign started in Odisha on 29 May. Under this nationwide campaign, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has interacted with farmers from Odisha, Jammu, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, and Delhi.
During this program, 2170 teams of 16 thousand scientists from across the country will join virtually. So far, these teams have reached one crore eight lakh farmers through the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan program.
Through this program, farmers are being informed about research for advanced agriculture, keeping in mind the needs of their specific area, climatic conditions, soil fertility capacity, and other factors. Along with this, efforts are also being made to listen to the practical problems and needs of farmers and find their solutions so that the direction and policies of future agricultural research can be decided. A year after enforcement of new criminal laws began, T.N. government works on more State amendments
As the three new criminal laws replacing colonial-era laws complete one year of enforcement in Tamil Nadu, the State government, which has sent its first list of proposed State amendments, is working on more of them. In its first list of State amendments proposed to the Government of India, it has sought changes in the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The State government sent the amendments in January this year. A top official from the Union Home Ministry visited Chennai a few days ago and one of the items on the agenda that was discussed at a meeting was about the amendments proposed by the Tamil Nadu government. One-man committee Meanwhile, the State government is also awaiting a report from retired Madras High Court judge M. Sathyanarayanan, who has been leading the one-man committee, which was constituted to examine the three new criminal laws and suggest State amendments to them. Another list will be sent on receipt of report from the committee, according to a source. In July last year, the Tamil Nadu government announced that it has constituted the one-man committee in this regard, on the directions of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. The State government had then stated that Mr. Stalin, in his communication to the Union Home Minister, dated June 17, 2024, had highlighted key issues in the the three criminal laws — the BNS, the BNSS, and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. The Chief Minister had contended that the Union government's laws had some errors in some basic sections and that they had been enacted without concurrence from State governments. As these subjects were part of the Concurrent List III, elaborate consultations should have been held with the State government, Mr. Stalin contended.

BJP gets new state presidents; ideological association with RSS & caste factor at play
New Delhi: The BJP is close to finalising the presidents of 12 states/Union territories and a common thread emanating from the selection process, besides the caste factor, is that most of the candidates shortlisted seem to have a long-standing association with the RSS. With the state party presidents in place, the stage is set for the much-awaited election of the party's national president. The BJP elected K Beichhua and VP Ramalingam as the party presidents for Mizoram and Puducherry. Barring these two candidates, all the rest of the shortlisted state presidents are ideologically associated with RSS and BJP right from the Jan Sangh days. In the next two-three days, BJP will elect its state unit chiefs for Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal and other state/UT units. In Andhra Pradesh, OBC candidate PVN Madhav, an old party hand and whose family has been associated with RSS, will be made the state party chief. Similarly, in Telangana, Ramchander Rao, a brahmin, is set to be BJP state unit head. He is strongly associated with the RSS. With two Union ministers -- Bandi Sanjay (OBC) and G Kishen Reddy -- from the influential Reddy caste, the party has opted for Brahmin as its state unit head here. In Uttarakhand, Mahendra Bhatt is likely to continue as state unit president. In this hilly state where the politics is dominated by Thakurs and Brahmin and with a Thakur, Pushkar Singh Dhami as state chief minister, the party has opted for Brahmin as state president. Similarly, in neighbouring Himachal Pradesh, the incumbent Rajiv Bandal may continue as BJP state unit president. Here also, the politics is dominated by Thakurs and Brahmins. With Jairam Thakur as leader of opposition in the state assembly and JP Nadda, a Brahmin as Union Minister, the party has opted for a Baniya who has strong associations with the Sangh. India's growing economic leverage on global stage: RSS' Sunil Ambekar
New Delhi [India], June 30 (ANI): The Center of Policy Research and Governance (CPRG) hosted the second session of its Trade Roundtable Series at the India International Centre in Delhi on Monday. The session convened senior industry leaders, policymakers, academicians, trade negotiators, and public policy experts to deliberate on the theme 'US Tariff Policy and Trade Reform: Impact on the Indian Economy.' Speaking on this occasion Sunil Ambekar, All India Incharge of Media and Publicity division of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) highlighted India's growing economic leverage on the global stage, asserting the need to engage with the world 'from a position of strength rather than dependence.' The discussions examined the implications of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), standards compliance, and strategic trade positioning across key sectors such as pharmaceuticals, agriculture, defence, and intellectual property. Opening the session, Dr Ramanand, Director, CPRG, called attention to the need for sustained,stakeholder-led discourse to shape India's long-term trade strategy. 'In a rapidly changing geopolitical context, these dialogues help forge clarity around national priorities and industrial resilience,' he stated.A key point of discussion centered on standards and compliance. Prof. Rakesh Mohan Joshi, Vice Chancellor, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi, observed that 'despite many Indian facilities having international approvals like those of the FDA,' differences in standards, limited mutual recognition agreements, and high compliance costs continue to hamper India's export potential. Dr Omkar Rai, Ex-Executive Chairman Startup Odisha, Government of Odisha, stressed the need to boost India's innovation ecosystem, particularly in electronics and digital sectors. He noted that fragmented value chains and dependence on foreign standards undermine competitiveness, calling for stronger domestic certification frameworks. Panelists also discussed the importance of strengthening India's manufacturing base beyond startups, the need for better data and anticipatory scenario planning in trade negotiations, and the challenges of building competitiveness in global value chains. Several participants emphasised focusing on skill development, consistent quality standards, and improving domestic productivity as crucial steps for India's long-term trade strategy Building on the momentum of the Mumbai roundtable, the session focused on India's evolving trade landscape amidst shifting global tariff regimes, with particular emphasis on the electronics and startup ecosystems.
