Fez Psychiatrist Accused of Sexually Assaulting Patients
A Moroccan psychiatrist has been accused of sexually assaulting female patients after allegedly drugging them with cocaine and sedatives, according to reports. The shocking case, reported by Al-Ahdath Al-Maghribia newspaper, involves a specialist in mental health and addiction treatment who is said to have exploited vulnerable women seeking his help. Authorities in the city of Fez have been investigating the claims, which came to light after the doctor's own wife alerted prosecutors. She had reportedly discovered disturbing videos on his phone – footage of him assaulting patients – after returning from a trip to France. Police say the psychiatrist, along with his cousin, targeted women suffering from mental health conditions, convincing them that he could treat their psychological struggles. Instead, investigators claim, he used his position to manipulate and drug them before assaulting them. Some of the alleged victims were divorced or married women and had trusted him as their doctor. In one particularly disturbing incident, he is said to have given a sedative to a patient's young daughter so he could be alone with the mother. According to the newspaper, the psychiatrist would schedule appointments late at night under the guise of therapy. Once there, the women were allegedly given cocaine and other drugs before being assaulted. The investigation only began after the doctor's wife reportedly found incriminating evidence on his phone, including videos of the assaults. She immediately went to the authorities. The accused and his cousin have already appeared before an investigative judge, who has set a hearing for July 9. Police are calling for other victims to come forward. Spanish Police Seize Over 15 Tons of Hashish Hidden in Moroccan Watermelon Truck
Rabat – Spanish authorities, working closely with Moroccan and French counterparts, have intercepted a massive shipment of hashish smuggled into Spain from Morocco, seizing more than 15 tons of the drug concealed in a truck loaded with watermelons. The truck, which arrived in the port of Almería from Morocco, was stopped by Spain's national police. Officers discovered 13.3 tons of hashish stashed between watermelon pallets and inside cleverly disguised fake sweet potatoes. The operation, which also led to the arrest of five men, including the truck driver and others involved in surveillance and logistics, was the result of months of international cooperation. The suspects, accused of belonging to a criminal organization and drug trafficking , have been brought before a judge and placed in pretrial detention. According to a statement from the Spanish police, the raid was coordinated with Morocco's General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and France's anti-narcotics office (OFAST). The investigation began in early June after OFAST alerted Spanish authorities to the activities of a Spanish-Moroccan criminal network trafficking large quantities of hashish into Europe. Investigators soon determined that the group planned to use a semi-trailer truck to smuggle the drugs via Almería, exploiting the steady flow of agricultural shipments between Morocco and Spain to avoid detection. Police eventually tracked the truck to a warehouse in an industrial area, where they uncovered dozens of packages of hashish hidden among watermelon pallets. They also found sacks resembling sweet potatoes, which turned out to be hollow containers designed to conceal additional drugs and evade inspection. Spanish authorities hailed the operation as a successful example of cross-border cooperation against organized crime. Tags: drug traffickinghashishspain police

Moroccan man sentenced to life in France for double femicide amid tense separation
Mohamed O., a 41-year-old Moroccan national and father, was sentenced to life in prison on Tuesday, July 1, by the Gard Assize Court in France. Subject to an order to leave French territory (OQTF), he was found guilty of murdering his wife and sister-in-law in May 2023 amid a tense separation, AFP reported. The double femicide took place in Salles-du-Gardon, in southern France. Mohamed O. went to the home of his wife Halima, 26, who had been staying with her sister after leaving the marital home. An argument reportedly erupted when Fatima, 39, asked him to return the house keys. He then stabbed her fourteen times, including once near the heart, before turning on Halima and slashing her throat. During the trial, the defendant admitted to killing Fatima «in a fit of anger» but claimed his wife's death was «an accident», alleging that she fell onto the blade of his knife. This version was firmly rejected by the forensic expert, who explained: «The throat wound is nine centimeters long. There's a lateral motion across the neck—you have to apply pressure to do that». «He came in with the knife covered in blood, with a dark look on his face», recalled a beautician who witnessed the scene. The jury found evidence of premeditation and sentenced him to life imprisonment, with a mandatory minimum term of 18 years, and revoked his parental rights. The defendant has filed an appeal.
