Rush hair expert reveals how to repair damaged hair
TINA Farey, Editorial director at Rush Hair, shares her advice…
HOW TO RESTORE DAMAGED HAIR
Whilst you can't fully reserve the effects of damaged hair, you can stop the problem from growing.
Depending on the condition of your hair, I'd recommend getting a trim every six to eight weeks - this will prevent any split ends from travelling further up the hair shaft, which weakens the hair's overall structure and leads to more breakage.
Even just an inch of the ends will completely transform the appearance of your hair – trust me.
When it comes to products to help restore damaged hair, Goldwell's Rich Repair Treatment Mask is a firm favourite – strengthening damaged locks to be healthy and shiny once again.
HOW TO PREVENT DAMAGE
My number one tip is to always use a heat protectant – even if you're only blow-drying your hair.
Consistent heat styling without one will leave your hair open to heat damage.
I'd also recommend refraining from over-washing your hair as this can strip the hair of its natural oils – nobody wants a dry and irritated scalp!
And finally, swap your sleek, slick back for a hair down day!
They may be in fashion at the moment, but over time all that tension on your strands from being pulled will wreak havoc on your hair follicles – this could lead to thinning and bald spots in areas where the hair is constantly pulled.
"I'm genuinely impressed with the results," the customer wrote in their review.

"My hair tends to get oily at the roots and dry at the ends, but this shampoo strikes the perfect balance—it deeply cleanses without stripping away natural moisture."
"One of the best things about this shampoo is how it brings that salon-fresh feel right into your home."

And a holy grail
Plus, a water-resistant hair mask that's a "must-have" for your holiday this summer.

Simone Gannon: The six skincare products I always return to after trying everything else

A friend asked me for a skincare product recommendation the other day, and it got me thinking. As a beauty journalist of more than 15 years, I've had the privilege of trying a lot of new products – especially skincare. Some are instant hits, others quietly disappear into the abyss of my bathroom cabinet. But over the years, amid the endless cycles of new launches and trend-driven must-haves, there are a couple of products I always come back to. The ones I buy again and again without thinking, and often panic over when they're about to run out. These are the ones I reach for (and recommend) because I just know they'll deliver. They're not always flashy or trendy, but they work. And in a world obsessed with the next big beauty thing, that says a lot. CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser (€13 for 236ml at Boots) CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser (€13 for 236ml from Boots) works for all skin types. Everyone in my household uses this, pre-teen son included, because it's gentle, simple, and packed with ceramides that support the skin barrier. It's a reliable all-rounder, even in times of skin sensitivity or stress. It's also a great one to use after aesthetic treatments. SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Antioxidant Serum SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Antioxidant Serum One of the few high-end skincare products I regularly choose to invest in. SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Antioxidant Serum (€193 from Meaghers Pharmacy) is still, 20 years after it launched, one of the best on the market. When I stop using it, I notice the difference in my skin. It's potent, powerful, and brightens, protects and evens the skin like nothing else. When I splurge on this, I justify its hefty price tag by saving on moisturisers and cleansers – it's all about balance. READ MORE Medik8 Press & Glow Daily Exfoliating PHA Toner (€40 from Medik8 Press & Glow Daily Exfoliating PHA Toner One of the easiest, gentlest, most effective exfoliants out there. Medik8 Press & Glow Toner (€40 from Millies ) contains polyhydroxy acid, or PHA. If you've heard of glycolic or lactic acid, think of PHA as their distant, gentler cousin. It gives you smoother, brighter, glowing skin without the irritation often caused by stronger exfoliants. I love the pump bottle too. Rhode Glazing Milk (€42 from Rhode Glazing Milk I've mentioned this many times before, but for good reason. Rhode Glazing Milk (€42 from Rhode ) is genuinely one of the best skincare products out there. If you're dry, dehydrated, have sensitive skin – even if you're struggling with perioral dermatitis – this is for you. I recommended it to a friend recently who was deep in the throes of a perioral dermatitis flare-up, and it made a visible difference. It soothes, calms and boosts moisture levels in a jiffy. Use it after cleansing and before serums, and don't be afraid to apply two or three layers at a time to really ramp up hydration levels. La Roche Posay Toleriane Dermallergo Cream (€25 from Boots) La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermallergo Soothing Cream I started using La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermallergo Soothing Cream (€25 from Boots) several years ago during a bout of sensitivity, and it's been by my side ever since. It's one of those rare moisturisers that's thin, light, and relatively weightless on the skin, but still packs a serious punch when it comes to calming, soothing, and boosting moisture levels. It's also reasonably affordable (depending on where you shop) and suitable for all skin types, including the most sensitive. Supergoop! Play Everyday Lotion SPF50 (€26 from Cult Beauty) Supergoop! Play Everyday Lotion SPF50 My love for Supergoop! has been strong since I first started using its sunscreens in 2019. I quickly became obsessed with Play Everyday Lotion SPF50 (€26 for 71ml from Cult Beauty). I've recommended it to everyone I know (and their mums). It's non-irritating, works beautifully under make-up, has no white cast, and leaves a dewy, lightweight finish. Whenever I run out of sunscreen and need to restock in a hurry, this is the one I reach for. Patchology Skin Remedy Calm & Protect Micro Mist (€12 from This week I'm using ... Patchology Skin Remedy Calm & Protect Micro Mist Patchology stole my heart with its excellent range of under-eye patches, which tackle everything from puffiness and dullness to fine lines and dehydration. Its new Skin Remedy Calm & Protect Micro Mist (€12 from Millies ) is formulated for sensitive skin, containing ectoin and probiotics that soothe, protect, and hydrate even the most irritated, reactive complexions. It's a beautifully packaged, ultra-fine mist that feels like a calming breath for your skin, and it's incredibly affordable at just €12.

Amazon slashes price of 'brilliant' and 'reliable' blood pressure monitor

Let's face it, arranging an appointment to see your GP in Ireland can be hard to do. Some of us have to phone our local surgery countless times before we can get an appointment and even when we do it can take several weeks to see an actual doctor. Thanks to technology, we can now keep tabs on our physical health at home without having see a doctor. According to the prevalence of hypertension (high blood pressure) amongst men in 2019 was 38.2 per cent. High blood pressure or hypertension significantly increases the risk of heart, brain and kidney diseases, and is one of the top causes of death and disease throughout the world. If you are currently being treated for high blood pressure or perhaps you are concerned about your general physical well-being, an excellent way to keep on top your health is keeping tabs on your blood pressure at home and what better way to do this than with a reliable blood pressure monitor. Amazon has slashed the price of the UA-611 A&D Medical Blood Pressure Monitor by 12 per cent to a remarkably affordable €21.99. Other options include Currys' OMRON M2 Basic Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor (€49.99) and the BRAUN ExactFit1E BUA4000 Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor from Boots (€37.49). The UA-611 A&D Medical Blood Pressure Monitor is clinically validated for accuracy - British and Irish Hypertension Society (BIHS) and European Society for Hypertension (ESH) approved, recommended by national health authorities in both the UK and Ireland. The UA-611 A&D Medical Blood Pressure Monitor comes with a 22cm-32cm cuff; 30 memories and an average reading function; an Irregular Heart Beat Indicator (IHB); World Health Organisation (WHO) Blood Pressure Classification Indicator and a unique five year product warranty - for complete peace of mind One of the things customers who purchased the UA-611 A&D Medical Blood Pressure Monitor like about it the most is its reliability and how easy it is to use. "Bought this to keep an eye on my blood pressure at home, and it's been a brilliant bit of kit," raved one satisfied customer. "Simple to use - just wrap the cuff, press the button, and within seconds you've got a clear, accurate reading. The display is easy to read, and the colour-coded indicator helps make sense of the numbers at a glance," the customer added. The customer continued: "Highly recommended for anyone wanting to monitor their blood pressure without fuss—reliable, straightforward, and a great way to stay on top of your health from home." Another content customer said: "This is a very good machine and just as accurate as others in this tier. Very happy with my purchase, delivery and price." It wasn't all five stars reviews however with one disappointed buyer saying: "Reading are too low. I have two other machines and they both give higher readings than this one." Out of almost 45,000 reviews on Amazon the UA-611 A&D Medical Blood Pressure Monitor currently has an average rating of 4.6 out of five. The vast majority of the reviews are all positive. One final customer said: "This is a great product, I use it regularly, I'm very happy with my purchase."
