Rihanna Is Officially Fashion's Coolest Mom

Rihanna Is Officially Fashion's Coolest Mom

Vogue4 hours ago
Alongside her glittering music career (let the record show Don't Stop the Music went triple platinum on my iPod Shuffle), Rihanna has long secured her place as a global fashion icon. Who else could deliver legendary bangers such as Cheers (Drink To That) and B*tch Better Have My Money while clocking up prime position on the best-dressed list at the Met Gala year after year? Aside from the canary yellow Guo Pei gown and pope-core Margiela moment, it's her maternity wardrobe that's truly the stuff of fashion legend. No expandable waist jeans or maternity dungarees here.
Pregnant with her third child (a wordless announcement was made on the 2025 Met Gala steps in custom Marc Jacobs tailoring), Rihanna hit the Los Angeles premiere of The Smurfs in a Saint Laurent fall 2025 gown that ticked every box of her signature maternity style: lingerie-inspired and statement-making, with a biker jacket thrown in for good measure. Perhaps the biggest fashion flex of all? Her sons RZA and Riot joined her on the red carpet, dressed in mini custom Dior by Jonathan Anderson, fresh from his debut runway show for the French house.

Rihanna's Two Sons Make a Surprise Red Carpet Debut—In Dior Men, No Less

RZA and Riot, the two sons of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, made their joint red carpet debut together on July 13 at the L.A. premiere of Smurfs. Rihanna not only stars in the movie as the voice of Smurfette, but she also recorded a song for the film's soundtrack. Rihanna is currently pregnant with her third child, who she has said definitively will also have a name that begins with an 'R.'Rihanna and A$AP Rocky's two sons RZA, 3, and Riot, 23 months, had a big Sunday night alongside their glamorous mother. The two boys also marked a milestone on July 13 as they attended the Smurfs premiere in Los Angeles: it was the first time that the two jointly attended a red carpet together. Dressed in Dior Men, the two were on the arm of Rihanna, who voices Smurfette in the movie (which comes out July 18). A highlight of the evening on Sunday? RZA and Riot got the chance to meet Papa Smurf. Rihanna, of course, is currently expecting her third child with A$AP Rocky, revealed at the Met Gala back in May. She, too, made a fashion-forward appearance on the red carpet, wearing a chocolate brown Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello look with a lingerie-inspired lace-trim top and ball gown-style skirt, which she paired with a matching leather jacket. At the Smurfs premiere in Brussels, Belgium on June 28, Rihanna had Rocky on her arm; for that occasion, she wore a Chanel ensemble that accentuated her baby bump. At that same premiere, Rihanna told Entertainment Tonight that, when it comes to their third child (or, it seems, any child thereafter, should that be the case), 'It's always going to be an 'R' name,' she said. 'That's the one thing me and Rocky don't fight over.' Rocky seemed to take details about the family's new addition a step further, hinting to Entertainment Tonight that he and Rihanna are expecting a baby girl: 'Is that the girl you've been waiting for?' co-host Kevin Frazier asked the rapper, to which Rocky responded, 'It is, man, it is.' In a quick-on-his-feet save, Rocky then held up a Smurfette toy—who Rihanna plays in the film—and added, 'Right here, right here,' to which Frazier replied, 'You know what I'm asking!' as Rocky laughed. 'Rihanna and Rocky couldn't be more thrilled to be growing their family again with baby number three,' a source told People. 'They've really embraced this chapter, and their bond has only deepened since becoming parents.' The rapper 'has been incredibly attentive and nurturing throughout this pregnancy,' the insider added. 'He's so hands-on with RZA and Riot, changing diapers, doing bedtime routines, and keeping them entertained so Rihanna can rest. He's completely tuned into her needs.' This includes 'bringing her late night cravings when she's in the mood or creating little ways for her to unwind,' they added. 'He'll run her baths, massage her feet, and take care of things around the house so she doesn't have to lift a finger.' 'This pregnancy feels especially meaningful because they've grown so much together as partners and parents,' the source continued, adding that 'Rocky is Rihanna's biggest cheerleader. He always makes her laugh—he keeps things light and full of love. They both prioritize their family time above everything, and it's clear this is what matters most to them.' James Gunn Explains the Circumstances Where His Superman Might Kill Someone — GeekTyrant

James Gunn's Superman is finally here, and it's looking like the DCU is off to a strong start. With David Corenswet donning the cape and a stacked cast including Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, and Nathan Fillion, this rebooted take on the Man of Steel already is very different, brighter, more hopeful, and a little weirder. But don't assume that means Gunn is softening Superman's edges completely. At a recent Wired Q&A, Gunn was asked directly about whether his Superman would ever kill. After reading a card that asked, 'Why doesn't Superman kill?', Gunn turned to Corenswet but answered the question himself: 'I believe he believes in a basic right to life. I mean, I think that's just not in him.' However, Gunn quickly followed up with some added complexity: 'I think that if, for instance, he had to kill to protect somebody's life, he would probably do that, even though that would be hard for him.' So no, we're not likely to see a trigger-happy Kryptonian, but Gunn is leaving the door open for morally grey situations where Superman might make an impossible choice. This echoes the divisive moment in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel , where Henry Cavill's Superman kills General Zod to save innocent lives. Snyder stood by that decision in a GQ interview last year, arguing: 'Zod wasn't going to stop. He would fight [Superman] until either he killed him or Superman killed Zod… If Superman can't handle that position, then he's fake… He had to address the scenarios that come to him. He doesn't get to pick and choose when something is outside of your morality.' Whether you love or hate that moment, Gunn seems to be acknowledging a similar reality. This new Superman may face choices with no clean outcomes. It's not about abandoning his values. It's about what happens when those values are pushed to the brink. Interestingly, Corenswet himself has expressed interest in exploring a darker path for the character in future projects. In a previous interview, he said he'd love to see his Superman in an R-rated setting. That doesn't mean we're heading toward a hyper-violent Superman movie, but in the world Gunn is building, it's clear that even the most virtuous hero might face the kind of dilemma that makes him question everything.

David Zaslav Says DC Has Finally Taken Flight After SUPERMAN's Box Office Win: 'The Vision Is Clear. The Momentum Is Real.' — GeekTyrant

After years of starts, stops, and superhero stumbles, the DC Universe may have finally found its footing, and David Zaslav is leading the victory lap. Following a $122 million domestic and $217 million global opening weekend for James Gunn's Superman , Warner Bros. Discovery's CEO isn't just celebrating the numbers, he's doubling down on a unified DC future. In Zaslav's view, this is the beginning of a new era. 'Three years ago, I hired James Gunn and Peter Safran to reimagine and unify the creative direction of DC under one leadership team, by breathing new life and excitement into one of the most iconic storytelling franchises in the world,' Zaslav said. 'James and Peter's commitment to honoring the legacy of the DC Universe while forging something new and enthralling is inspired.' The early success of Superman , starring David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, arrives on the heels of a string of DC misfires like The Flash , Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom , Shazam: Fury of the Gods , and Blue Beetle all struggled to make an impact. But with a fresh vision, a rebooted tone, and a clearer roadmap, Gunn's Superman has become a much-needed turning point. Zaslav recalled his initial meeting with Gunn, noting how personal these characters seemed to him. 'When he spoke about the DC characters, they were like his family.' That level of connection, he said, made it obvious Gunn was the right person to guide the cinematic reboot. Zaslav made it clear this was only the beginning, saying: 'This weekend, we watched Superman soar as James Gunn's passion and vision came to life on the big screen. Superman is just the first step. 'Over the next year alone, DC Studios will introduce the films Supergirl and Clayface in theaters and the series Lanterns on HBO Max, all part of a bold 10-year plan. The DC vision is clear, the momentum is real, and I couldn't be more excited for what's ahead.' That 10-year plan includes a full slate of interconnected films and series, with Supergirl and Clayface already in motion and a new Wonder Woman project reportedly in early development. The goal is creating a cohesive universe with consistent tone and purpose—a far cry from DC's scattered past. There's still some pressure though, as a $225 million budget means Superman needs strong legs to prove it's not just a frontloaded win, and with Disney's Thunderbolts recently flaming out after an impressive start, there's reason to be cautious. But right now? Zaslav along with the cast and crew of the film are enjoying the success.
