Southport killer 'to be fed through hatch' like Hannibal after prison attack
Southport killer Axel Rudakubana will reportedly be fed through a hatch and get a five-guard escort following his attack on a prison guard.
The 18-year-old, who killed three young girls in July last year, allegedly used a kettle to throw boiling water on a prison officer on Thursday.
His freedom within HMP Belmarsh, in South East London, will now be severely restricted in ways that echo the treatment of Hannibal Lecter, according to The Sun.
A source told the newspaper: 'They will treat Rudakubana much more severely. It will not be far off Hannibal Lecter because they will take no chances.'
Fictional serial killer Lector, who was played by Anthony Hopkins in the 1991 film The Silence of the Lambs, was held in a maximum security jail.
The source added: 'Rudakubana will only be able to open the latch on his side once the officers have shut the box and closed it on their side.
'This is a huge deal in UK jails as it is considered it dehumanises inmates.
'He will be let out of his cell only after being searched and escorted by at least five officers, who will be in PPE and could use a dog.'
They said the unit would be locked down each time he is moved.
In a video posted on X, shadow justice secretary Robert Jenrick compared the hot water incident to the recent attack on prison guards by the Manchester Arena terrorist Hashem Abedi.
He said: 'We must never put the rights of criminals and terrorists above the safety of prison officers.
'Labour's Justice Secretary needs to get a grip or else I fear it is only a matter of time before a prison officer loses their life.'
Abedi threw hot cooking oil on officers and stabbed them with 'home made weapons,' the Prison Officers' Association alleged.
It's thought Rudakubana could now be moved to another prison. More Trending
Rudakubana will spend a minimum of 52 years in prison for the murder spree at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class.
He killed Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and tried to murder eight other children, the class instructor Leanne Lucas, and businessman John Hayes.
On the alleged hot water attack, a Prison Services spokesperson from the Ministry of Justice told the Metro: 'Police are investigating an attack on a prison officer at HMP Belmarsh on Thursday.
'Violence in prison will not be tolerated and we will always push for the strongest possible punishment for attacks on our hardworking staff.'

Police officers at 'breaking point' after surge in mental health and stress absences
Police officers are at 'breaking point' after stress and mental health absences soared by over 50%. The figures, covering the last three years, show a huge rise in the number of cops off work because of psychological issues. According to stats uncovered by Labour, the number rose from 814 in 2021 to 1,236 last year, an increase of 52%. Labour MSP Pauline McNeill said: 'It's clear police in Scotland are at breaking point after years of SNP mismanagement and neglect. 'We owe it to police officers to ensure they have the support they need while they work to keep our communities safe, but it's clear that is not the case under the SNP. 'The SNP has let police officer numbers collapse over the last five years, piling pressure on remaining officers and threatening to undermine public safety." She added: 'The SNP must wake up to this growing mental health crisis and work with Police Scotland to support officers struggling with stress, trauma or poor mental health. ' Police officers cannot keep bearing the brunt of SNP failure – more must be done to support police and the vital work they do.' David Kennedy, General Secretary of the Scottish Police Federation, said 'Police officer numbers have collapsed over the last five years, creating a dangerous shortage of officers on our streets and putting public safety at risk. 'This chronic understaffing is having a devastating impact not only on the service Police Scotland can deliver, but also on the officers themselves—piling unmanageable workloads and stress onto those who remain. 'What doesn't help is senior police leaders continually insisting that the service can cope when it can't—the service may be surviving, but those it impacts are suffering. We urgently need action to reverse this decline, ensure visible policing in our communities, and protect the public from the consequences of this mismanagement.' Alan Speirs, Deputy Chief Constable at Police Scotland, said: "The health and welfare of our officers and staff remains one of Police Scotland's highest priorities with enhanced provisions from both our Employee Assistance and Your Wellbeing Matters programmes. 'This will be further enhanced through the implementation of our new HR structure with increased resource within our Health and Wellbeing team. 'We also have a range of mechanisms in place to support our employees who are absent from work for any reason. 'We continue to work with our occupational health provider to support police officers and staff in their journey back to health and, subsequently, to work.' A Scottish Government spokesperson said: 'Police officers and staff do a challenging job and we have welcomed the Chief Constable's commitment to workforce wellbeing. 'Staff and officers can access a range of services to support their physical and mental wellbeing. This includes access to a 24/7 employee assistance programme, and direct access to occupational health services. 'We are investing a record £1.64 billion for policing in 2025-26 – an increase of £90 million on 2024-25 – and Police Scotland took on more recruits in 2024-25 than at any time since 2013, with more intakes planned this year.'

Gabrielle Davies, 21, from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, claims she was standing at her doorway when the man made the crude motion towards her. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 3 The man was captured on Ring doorbell footage making the lewd gesture Credit: supplied 3 In an email seen by The Sun, the man reportedly told the police 'I had ants in my pants' Credit: supplied 3 Gabrielle Davies, 21, with her boyfriend Joseph She was able to save the footage of the incident, which shows the man in the neighbouring garden look toward Gabrielle's front door before making what appears to be a mock-masturbating motion with his hands down his pants. Disabled Gabrielle called South Yorkshire Police, who came and took a statement from her community nurse. According to an email seen by The Sun, the investigating officer says she tracked down the man in the video footage, who does not live at the residence and is not based in South Yorkshire. However, the police told Gabrielle in an email: "He has given his version of events, stating that he was shaking ants [from] his shorts due to being sat on the grass prior. "He states that he did not see Gabrielle or speak to her at any point." The officer adds that it would be hard to prove malicious intent without seeing the footage leading up to the incident. As a result, the policewoman said the investigation has been closed following a discussion with her duty sergeant. Gabrielle, who lives in the house with her partner Joseph, said: "When the police went to speak to him he said he was shaking ants from his pants. "I really don't know how she believed that. I feel like it's not been investigated properly. "His excuse was pathetic, his gesture was clearly directed to me. Monster GUILTY of stabbing Daniel Anjorin, 14, to death and slashing at cops with Samurai sword in 'ferocious' rampage "People online are saying my neighbours are angry because the Ring doorbell is pointed into their garden but it's actually just pointing straight out from our front door. "I want the police to reinvestigate it, he needs to be charged with indecency. I'm classed as a vulnerable person being disabled." A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: "We take every report of crime seriously, with a full investigation launched into this incident. "Following numerous enquiries, including the gathering of CCTV and witness statements, this investigation was filed due to a lack of a realistic prospect of conviction." Do you know more? Email

Kerry Katona's daughter Heidi in tears as she recounts harrowing childhood memory
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Kerry Katona's daughter, Heidi, was reduced to tears as she recounted a harrowing childhood memory of witnessing her stepfather assault her mother. Heidi was just a child when Kerry was married to her third husband, former rugby player George Kay. Tragically, George passed away in 2019 at the age of 39 due to a drug overdose after reportedly consuming cocaine at a hotel. Now 18, Heidi - who views George as her father despite her biological dad being Kerry's second husband, taxi driver and drug dealer Mark Croft - has spoken candidly about her upbringing, confessing: "I saw things as a child I should not have seen." READ MORE - Brit gobsmacked by prices in 'unreal' Spanish supermarket and warns 'we've been had' READ MORE - One of Greece's most famous islands left 'empty' as business owner shares concerns The young woman revealed that she witnessed George physically attack her mum, who is also the mother to Kerry's 11 year old daughter Dylan-Jorge, affectionately known as DJ. On one occasion, he even threatened to kill DJ by injecting her with heroin. Heidi, who aspires to follow in her famous mother's footsteps, now harbours mixed emotions towards the man she once called dad. In her first-ever interview with The Sun, she admitted: "I am grieving for him. But I also saw my dad hitting my mum.", reports the Mirror. "She didn't realise at the time how much I saw. It has an effect on who I am now. I saw things as a child I should not have seen. Mum sent me to a therapist but I don't see the point of it. I try to be tough. Like mum I use humour to cover things up, but it's not always easy." The 44 year old Atomic Kitten singer, known as much for her turbulent personal affairs as for her musical career, is a mother of five and thrice married. Kerry Katona's eldest daughters, Molly, 23, and Lilly-Sue, 22, are from her previous marriage to Westlife star Brian McFadden. Her middle children, Heidi, 18, and Max, 17, were born during her second marriage to Mark Croft. Notably, Heidi marked Father's Day by honouring Kerry on social media rather than her biological father, posting: 'The woman who did both jobs @kerrykatona7 Happy Father's Day. ' The youngest of the brood, 11 year old DJ, is from Kerry's third marriage to the late George Kay. Kerry Katona, who grew up in foster care, has seen her share of ups and downs over a 25-year spell in the spotlight, including careers in singing and reality television and experiencing bankruptcy twice. However, she has reclaimed millionaire status after starting an OnlyFans account, with her daughter Heidi divulging that Kerry sought her children's consent pre-joining the platform amidst lockdown. Heidi has spoken out about the family discussion, detailing how their mum said 'I want to do OnlyFans - tell me if you have a problem with that' and clarified the nature of the website. Heidi commented: "Lockdown meant her other work had stopped. We all agreed she should do it, she's a grown woman who makes her own decisions. "She bought us all Airpods with her earnings. I thought, 'This is great'. She's done glamour before, she's been pictured with her boobs out, there's not a huge difference. This way she takes control and makes money from her sexuality. "We didn't know at the time that she was struggling for money. She has hidden a lot from us over the years." Nowadays, her mum is living it up in a luxurious five-bedroom house in Cheshire and zipping around in a flashy Lamborghini, thanks to the cash from OnlyFans - Kerry reveals she's raking it in with feet pics. Heidi, however, has her eyes set on loftier goals; she's determined to become a solicitor or dive into property development. She's adamant about steering clear of Love Island too – she can't stand the thought of her mum spotting her snogging on telly.
