National Public Relations Day celebrated
Addressing the gathering, former CBI joint director VV Lakshminarayana focused on the theme 'responsible use of artificial intelligence: role of public relations'. He emphasised the importance of using AI in a manner that benefits society while minimising potential risks. He stressed the need for ethical considerations, transparency, fairness, and accountability to ensure that AI systems remain trustworthy and aligned with human values. MKVL Narasimham, chairman of PRSI, highlighted India's growing strength in the AI domain, noting that the country is now home to 16 per cent of the world's AI talent.
PRSI advisor K Rama Rao called for a proactive approach in driving fair and ethical AI decisions, ensuring compliance with existing laws and regulations. NV Narasimham, treasurer, briefed the gathering about the significance of National PR Day and the various impactful initiatives taken up by the PRSI to foster professional excellence in public relations. The celebrations also featured a vibrant Kuchipudi dance performance by students of Nritya Bharati Dance School, showcasing India's rich cultural heritage.

He is today in the UK," Sharma said. The submission came after senior advocate Sidharth Luthra, representing Chidambaram, said his client was an MP and not a flight risk. Live Events "He is an MP, where will he go? Even today, he is attending Parliament," Luthra said. The court then asked the CBI if one person had run away, did the agency believe everyone else would also flee. "If one person has run away, do you think everybody will run away?" the bench asked. The prosecution then expressed "certain concerns". The judge then advanced the hearing of the case from October 16 to September 10. The high court in March 2018 granted bail to Chidambaram in the INX media corruption case , subject to him seeking trial court's permission before travelling outside India. The CBI registered its case on 15 May 2017, alleging irregularities in a Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance granted to INX Media group for receiving overseas funds of ₹305 crore in 2007 during the senior Chidambaram's tenure as the Union finance minister. Thereafter, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) followed the suit by lodging a money laundering case. A Delhi court in 2018 declared beleaguered businessman Mallya a proclaimed offender for evading summons in a FERA violation case. It had earlier issued 'open-ended non-bailable warrants' against him.

ED deputy director Chintan Raghuvanshi walks out of Bhubaneswar jail on bail
Cuttack, Jul 25 (PTI) Enforcement Directorate (ED) deputy director Chintan Raghuvanshi, who was arrested by the CBI in May for bribery, walked out of Jharapada jail in Bhubaneswar on Friday evening after being granted bail by Orissa High Court. The HC also granted bail to Chintan's associate Bhakti Binod Behera, from whose vehicle the CBI sleuths had recovered the bribe money. Justice Gourishankar Satapathy allowed their separate bail pleas through a common order, imposing stringent conditions. Raghuvanshi and Behera were arrested from two locations in Bhubaneswar after the CBI caught them red-handed while accepting bribe from a city-based mining businessman. According to the agency, Raghuvanshi had placed a bribe demand of Rs 5 crore, which was reduced to Rs 2 crore and Rs 20 lakh was received as an installment. Raghuvanshi had reportedly demanded the amount from the businessman with a promise not to arrest him or attach his property in the 12 cases of financial irregularities pending against him with the ED. Earlier this month, Raghuvanshi was granted an interim bail for 10 days by the HC to visit his ailing wife and their newborn. He returned to jail as soon as his interim protection was over. 'The IRS officer was released from the jail on Friday evening after relevant documents from the HC and lower court were produced to the jail authorities", his lawyer Lalitendu Mishra said. Besides Mishra, senior advocates Ashok Kumar Parija and Soura Chandra Mohapatra also represented Raghuvanshi. Observing that the investigation has made significant progress and that the trial is unlikely to commence soon, the HC stated that bail is the rule and jail is the exception. 'The bail applications of Raghuvanshi and Behera are allowed and both are allowed on furnishing bail bonds of Rs 1 lakh with two solvent sureties for the like amount to the satisfaction of the trial court," the HC said. The other conditions include that the petitioners shall not commit any offence while out on bail, shall remain present in the trial court during hearings, and shall not leave the country without prior permission of the trial court. They are also required to provide the address of their place of stay and surrender their passports before the court.
