THIS weekend is very much the calm before the Royal Ascot storm - but I still reckon I've managed to unearth a tasty punt.
I'm hoping to warm up for the big meeting with a decent eachway run from Blue For You in the 7f handicap at York.

My selection is handicapped to go well for David O'Meara and Danny Tudhope.
To be honest I don't often get this yard right, but I think Blue For You is worth taking a risk on as an animal who loves the track.
Blue For You usually goes over a mile, and was a winner at York in July of last year off 95.
Having not scored since, he's on 95 again now, and he had a perfectly decent run over 7f at Haydock in April.
He's hard to predict but a few quid each-way is, in my opinion, well worth it.
Elsewhere at York I wonder if some headgear will spark up Chillingham? Time will tell… but I'll give him a go each-way too.
Meanwhile, the Greyhound Derby final is here and it's the defending champion against a fellow Irish champion in a right old smashup.
That's what we get in the climax of the coveted £175,000 Starsports Greyhound Derby at Towcester on Saturday night, which promises to be an absolute belter.
De Lahdedah, handled by Liam Dowling, bids to become just the fifth greyhound in history to achieve back-to-back successes.
And remember those that have done so are names from yesteryear that will always live long in the memory of dog loving fans.
Think Mick the Miller (1929-30), Patricias Hope (1972-3), Rapid Ranger (2000-1) and my personal favourite Westmead Hawk (2005-6).
But to score, De Lahdedah will have to destroy Graham Holland's Bockos Diamond, who aims to make history and do something only Toms the Best has ever achieved, and that's to land the Irish and English Derby.
This is a proper race, and after ITV duties at York I'm dashing straight to Towcester to enjoy the moment.
I hope you will be there to. Those in charge have put on loads of entertainment and music throughout the day.
It will be a party atmosphere. So come on down and say hello.

You'll find it with a simple 'Google' search.

Any support is always welcome and it's something the game takes very seriously.
So who will win? And is this a two dog race?
Well the answer to the latter question is clearly no. We have all been around too long to dismiss the unexpected.
As is always the case in greyhound racing, though, the draw is crucial and Bockos Diamond is plotted up in the black and white stripes of Trap 6, with kennel companion Cheap Sandwiches next to him in the orange of Trap 5.
That also happened in the semi-finals, when Bockos Diamond destroyed Cheap Sandwiches for early pace.
The former doesn't always get out as quickly as he did that day, in an impressive 3.95s. But Trap 6 seems to be the spot where he traps best.
Cheap Sandwiches also chased home Bockos Diamond in his Irish Derby victory, where the latter dashed better early pace despite not getting an electric start.
Some have a theory that the inside of the track is the place to be at Towcester, and that means De Lahdedah will have plenty of supporters.
He's in the white jacket of Trap 3, and that box holds no terrors for him, although he landed his semi-final from the blue of Trap 2.
De Lahdedah will need luck in the early stages, as he's a strong stayer who lacks early dash.
He does, however, have tremendous track craft and he'll keep plugging away.
If Bockos Diamond gets away I can't see him being picked up, but we are talking narrow margins here.
It just promises to be a wonderful event, and greyhounds are beautiful animals to watch in fluent motion.
Their long, powerful legs, deep chest, flexible spine and slim build allow them to reach speeds of 40mph.
Bockos Diamond will need to use all those attributes at 9.15pm tonight. Shine bright Bockos, like a diamond.

Graham Carey is confident the Lions have what it takes to cope in top flight Graham Carey says Livingston have the quality and mentality to thrive in the Premiership, and know how to win games. The Irish winger looks to the example set by Dundee United in their return to the top-flight last season, but says the Lions have a better squad. Carey caught the eye of boss David Martindale when he scored a scorching winner for St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup last season and watched Livingston's play-off final win over Ross County to return to Scotland's elite league. The 36-year-old former Celtic youth liked what he saw, and is pleased to be on board this season as the Lions prepare to visit Kilmarnock – a side they lost narrowly to 1-0 in the League Cup at Rugby Park earlier this month – in Saturday's top flight opener. He said: 'Because I knew there was interest, I was watching them in the play-off final, and when we [St Johnstone] played them in the cup last year when we beat them, we should have been three or four down at half-time. 'Compared to some of the teams I played against last year with St Johnstone this team, I feel, is better than quite a few of them – and we've added some quality and experience as well. 'We know how tough this league is, we know it's going to be tight, and we just feel like we have the quality in the squad and the mentality that the boys built last year by winning a lot of games. 'You saw even Dundee United last year when they came up, they had a winning mentality. 'They didn't necessarily play great football all the time, but they knew how to win games, and I think that's important.' Former Plymouth Argyle and Ross County star Carey says Martindale played a huge role in his decision to join the West Lothian club, after St Johnstone were pitched into the Championship. He said: 'When I spoke to the manager in the summer he said some of the problems they had in games last year was when teams were in a low block and they found it difficult to break teams down at times. 'That's what he brought me in for, to be creative, and add to the culture we have here as a winning team. 'People want to score goals and they know how to win games, and if I can help that throughout the season, then great. 'It was quite an easy decision, especially when I looked at the facilities that we have here, and the new pitch that was going down. 'It's like night and day compared to last season, it's really enjoyable to play on, and to train on. 'I've known him over the years, playing against his teams, and I've always found it difficult. 'They're always high-intensity, want to play good football, want to get the ball forward, but in the right way. 'We feel that we have good enough players to be able to play through teams, not always over the top. 'After speaking to him in the summer it was quite easy, it was done over the course of a couple of days. 'When I saw the facilities it was great for me, and it's closer to home as well.' Carey has had a varied career, including in England and Bulgaria with CSKA Sofia, which he feels has benefited him. He said: 'I definitely don't think I'd be still probably playing at this level if I didn't go abroad. 'I think coming off the back of that I played four years in England, where I played almost 200 games, so that was a lot of games on my body. 'Going abroad, we had winter breaks, international breaks, and not as many games – even playing in a warmer climate, I felt like it reset my body a bit. 'So when I came back I was still able to play at this level at my age.' Meanwhile, defender Ryan McGowan insists the narrow loss at Killie won't have a baring on this weekend's clash. He said: 'I thought we equipped ourselves quite well and we played well without scoring. It was a good opportunity for players that have not played at that level to sample it. In a stark change from the dictatorial regime the United squad endured under former boss Erik tan Hag on their Asian tour last summer, Old Trafford chief Amorim and his fitness team have seen enough to ensure a relaxed environment at their Chicago base. From day one, it was clear to the club's sports science staff, when the numbers clocked matched their reports, that the players had been treating the demands seriously. A bleep test-style sprint exercise, ramping up the requirements, brought extra intensity to the initial sessions, as Amorim and his staff wanted confirmation that the players recognised how much was needed. But the positive statistical feedback was proof that the squad wanted to be part of a new approach, with that push for fitness continuing over the past four weeks. But the coach to training - at Chicago Fire's impressive Endeavour complex - has left on the dot at 9.15am. And with the heat in mind, Amorim - with not even the club cameras rolling - has started his tactical work with the squad. That is about making players feel emboldened to make decisions under pressure, with just two or three bullet-point style instructions. Set-piece work is overseen by assistant manager Carlos Fernandes, viewed by Amorim as his trusted confident and second set of eyes - not dissimilar to the role Jose Mourinho had under Bobby Robson at Porto. However, Amorim's initial plans for his side to do two training sessions each day have not been required because of the high fitness levels. That has allowed Amorim to give his players their afternoons largely off, with the extra free time providing an opportunity for them to strengthen their internal relationships. Players have relaxed in cafes and gone shopping - with Chicago offering a relative anonymity they would not get at home. Unlike on previous tours, though, few of Amorim's side have utilsed the games room install at their Waldorf Astoria hotel, mainly as it is sited on the third floor, two stories below the main rooms level. Amorim is understood to believe he needs to treat the players as adults rather than petulant or truculent children, as happened under Ten Hag. Skipper Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire have been influential figures, speaking to the various player groups and staff to help foster the collective environment the manager has been determined to achieve. That has all helped, especially for the players who remember the Ten Hag pre-season tours with a shudder. It is about discipline within an agreed system, rather than a draconian crackdown. That was shown when Ten Hag and his players were in the Thai capital Bangkok. The lifts in their hotel were very slow and with Ten Hag imposing punishments for anybody who was late to attend a meeting or a meal, many of the players ended up using the stairs to ensure they were on time.
